  1. Thanks. Prospect has the chance to become a nice, yet sleepy residential street. I'd love to see some nice 4-story townhomes fill in some of those surface lots between 9th and 14th.
  2. We were pretty lucky with the prior owners. They chose to spend money to buy the naming rights. The Browns have done the same. I don't know of any other city where all the pro sports teams' owners stepped up like that. It was nice while it lasted for two of the three.
  3. How many of the units at Joshua Hall have sold?
  4. The website suggests that 23 of the 30 townhomes have sold. I wonder if the townhome success will lead to more townhomes built in downtown.

A few comments on the map: Pretty up to date (Progressive Field). Is there actually a park called "Wade Park". I thought that it is called "Wade Oval".
  6. ^its a sacrilege, isn't it Pope?
  7. Demolition of the Hustler place will begin once they vacate the space in mid-March. Didn't we already know back in December that Eaton was going into the FEB??
  8. breakfast? Interesting. This isn't your Pope's Euclid Tavern.
  9. An interesting article on Moreland Courts: More than elegant East Side couple's condo a mix of style, history and whimsy Friday, January 18, 2008 Jill Sell A stone gargoyle perches menacingly atop one of the 15 connected buildings that make up Moreland Courts Condominiums in Cleveland, just east of Shaker Square. For centuries, scary-looking gargoyles were part of roof drainage systems or functioned as sentinels to frighten away evil spirits. In recent times, gargoyles have been considered fascinating architectural elements. "A lot of people just walk by, don't look up and never see the gargoyle. But we think it's a wonderful part of the building," says Sue Sherwin, who has lived in Moreland Courts with her husband, George Sherwin, since June 2006. The Sherwins also appreciate their fine oak flooring, crown molding, stately millwork and decorative plaster ceilings. Even their elegant brass doorknob, inscribed with an "M," is original. The view is another plus. From their vantage point on an upper floor, the Sherwins can see the snow gently settle on the topmost branches of mature trees. more at http://www.cleveland.com/arts/index.ssf/2008/08/moreland_courts_posh_living_sp.html

from ESPN Tables Turn For A Night When Cavs Play Spurs By Brian Windhorst Special to ESPN.com SAN ANTONIO -- Spurs vs. Cavs. No-brainer, right? This matchup has long been settled and quite convincingly, everybody knows that, eh? Look again. The two teams that hooked up at the AT&T Center Thursday appear to be heading in different directions. And it's not the way it was seven months ago or even one month ago. So the Cavs beat the Spurs, 90-88. Manu Ginobili, who seemingly couldn't miss all night on his way to 31 points, didn't get a friendly bounce at the horn as his 18-footer that would have forced overtime slipped off the rim. That's not really giant news, after all the Cavs have beaten the Spurs four straight times in the regular season. The Spurs have four straight wins in the playoffs, slightly different. 15. Cleveland State shocks No. 12 Butler for first upset victory Associated Press CLEVELAND (AP) -- Cedric Jackson scored 14 points as Cleveland State, a program in disarray for most of the past 20 years, stunned No. 12 Butler 56-52 on Thursday night for the Vikings' first regular-season win over an AP Top 25 team. www.ap.com
  16. How did the planning commission react to the demolition? I'm assuming they approached the commission to test the waters on whether or not they'd be able to do it. Otherwise, thanks for the update!

I'm agreeing with KJP on Settler's. It is a huge improvement and is paving the way for a possible continuous boardwalk link between FEB and the Center St. Swing Bridge.

  21. Ohio's forests are expanding, and it could pay off Posted by Michael Scott January 17, 2008 04:38AM Categories: Environment, Impact The state's green mantle has more than doubled in acreage -- from about 15 percent of the state's area to about 31 percent since the 1940s, according to the state Division of Forestry. And we might even get some economic bounce from that environmental rebound: There are increasing efforts to get Ohio's forests and logging operations -- both public and private -- certified as "sustainable." That could make the state's timber and paper products more desirable to increasingly green-minded consumers. Read More...
