Living on Foreclosed rental property
I lived in a rental in Royal Oak in 2000. When I found out that the house was in foreclosure, I told the landlord that i wasn't going to be the last month's rent. He was holding my $1000 security deposit and I knew that I wasn't goin to get that back.

Ohio's Yesterdayland - Remember This???
^awesome. I love it. What year was that? Sometimes its hard to remember that certain things that are now gone. Its easier to remember the things from my childhood that are still here: Malley's. Maybe its the fact that all our school fundraisers involved selling malley's; maybe its because one of the Malley's daughters took a liking to me; or maybe its because that store on Madison is so quintessential.

New credit card scam -- pretty slick!!
MasterCard just called me (last week) to ask if I had spent $300 in Syracuse, NJ and $2000 in DC. I didn't. Its nice to know that they will believe me without having to jump through a bunch of hoops.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I think that Ohio City is a mixed bag. Here are some observations: In some people's minds, the area totally gentified a while ago. Therefore, they see poverty and think that the area is on a downward trend. I think that the presence of a few nice restaurants gives outsiders the impression that the area has come farther than it really has. This is why when they see poverty on the streets they think that the sky has fallen on the OC. In other people's minds, it is an area that has been steadily gentrifying for a while. I, myself, notice that there is a steady march towards the renovation of the existing housing stock. The change is slow, but its there. I also see a lot of homes that are on the market for a long time. i also see some homes sell very very quickly. Newly-constructed housing that is maintenance-free and provides secured parking sells very well. Older properties where you still have to tend to your garden are not as desireable, even if they are really beautiful. Fact: The OC lost population between 1990 and 2000. The OC gained back that population by 2003. Fact: Crime is down (as of 2005). Fact: As of today, a $300,000 home across the street from my house sold in two weeks. :)

Homicide totals
Yeah, but the sorts of residents that we have lost since 1972 are not the types of residents who were committing homicides.

Homicide totals
I saw in an arictle today that Cleveland had 333 murders in 1972. Wow, i can't even imagine that.
