Franklin Park, Columbus
It's kind of funny how some of the near east side is making a comback and a most of the far east side keeps going downhill. Sign of the times I guess.

Can you see the Minneapolis skyline from downtown St. Paul or vice versa?

msp: minneapolis at night
Awesome shots! I can feel the vibe of Minneapolis through these pictures. What's the economy like up there anyway?

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
I don't necessarily agree. Either Columbus, Cincinnati or Pittsburgh could use an NBA team. Unlike in baseball and football, this part of the country is underserved by the NBA. Trouble is, these cities' arenas are a bit small by NBA standards, though I'm not totally familiar with Pittsburgh's facilities. Nationwide Arena is not a small arena by NBA standards. It's most definitely big enough for the NBA. The real question is if Columbus is big enough to support another major league professional sport.

Southern Orchards, Columbus
Hmm... So it's called Southern Orchards, huh? I always just called it the hood. You're a brave man to roam those streets.

Columbus: Historic Photos
When I drove by the other day, I didn't see the clock. I think they removed it.

Columbus: Historic Photos
Oh wait a minute, do you mean the building with the columns across the street in front of Lazarus?

Columbus: Historic Photos
I think the height of the building and lattice on top of the building is comparable and it seems to sit directly across from the statehouse so that's probably going to be my best guess. These pics make for killer desktop backgrounds though. I just made this one mine.

Columbus: Historic Photos
I believe that's the Huntington National Bank Building. Here's a pic from MayDay

Columbus: Historic Photos
Aren't these great? I was going to downsize all of these pictures so they fit the screen but I decided not to. It's kind of rare to see good quality historical photos of this size.

Then they build at the Arena District and we can't do anything about it.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Fat buildings need love too.

Columbus: Children's Hospital Projects
You know, it makes you wonder if there was something brewing for German Village before the market went south. I'm guesstimating that building would have been around a 30 to 35 story condo tower if it was an actuality.

Columbus: Children's Hospital Projects
What the heck is this building supposed to be that I circled?

Here's a couple skyline pictures taken from Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Columbus: Hollywood Casino
The more I think about it, the more it makes perfect sense to build a grand casino and hotel at the Cooper stadium site. First, you still have the proximity to downtown and by building there instead of the Arena District, they could eventually build a hotel that wouldn't compete with the new Hilton being built at the CCC. Can you imagine staying at a 15 to 20 story hotel built with fantastic views of the skyline? The casino would be right next to the freeway with easy access and to top it off this could start a trend that totally reshapes that part of the city. This would be a win win situation if you ask me.

Dayton: NCR
This is fantastic news for Dayton. Hopefully this the defibrillator that jump-starts the heart of a dying city.
