Cleveland - taking Chagrin (Blvd) to Chagrin (Falls)
Scott Wolstein? Do they have a village house too? I remember this house that was featured in Cleve MAgazine a few years back (I think this is actually in Hunting Valley, could be wrong tho) http://homesoftherich.net/2009/02/scott-wolsteins-ohio-mega-estate/

Pretty sure that is a Belgian Malinois Oops, took out the extra pic of the hound and put in one of the houses I meant to. What a beautiful dog he was though. just checking in to the forum in the longest time...didnt foresee all the comments, thanks! And KJP thanks for the post-Sandy pics of the Falls. Yes, Thursday Oct 25 (the day I spent in Chagrin) was worlds away from the day I posted these pics.

Also today, the gorgeous weather facilitated a lot of street work (until sundown actually). Asphalt being poured in the roundabout. Lol I'm not interpreting this.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
From today, As Hootenany said... No. No asphalt...bricks right up to the edge. Here is a picture from near the top of Main Ave hill ,where more of the work is completed

Unless there is some new-fangled lookalike for granite...my eyes interpreted this (and the ones over on Front Street) as real granite.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
The original part of Main that went down to Old River Rd was removed only about 7-8 months ago. That portion was also brick, split by a median with honey locust trees. For those old enough to remember the heydays of the Flats, the brick street went down to the building that was home to D'Poos(?) and then Hooters. In this pic from andrew's 2007 photo thread, one can see a lot of the bricked Main Ave. I really hope they saved these bricks when they removed them last spring and re-use them in the new roadbed. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,15342.0.html#msg534700

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
In my post above (with the 2 renderings)...the roundabout at the bottom of the pic (in rendering #1) is essentially a new extension of Main Ave hill. Main Ave hill is a red brick street, sometimes that's hard to see under the bridge because it is so covered in dust (no rain to clean it). It seems only apprporiate that the new extension be brick. (Im guessing that the entire extension, and not just the roundabout, is brick because of the beige shading in the rendering)

Im almost certain it is more than 1". I'll try to get some confirmation of that. EDIT: did not know about a timeline for fixing up Settler's Landing Park. A year sounds good!

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
We do, however, have nearby reminders of what can be. A 5-minute walk from here down Old River Rd is Settler's Landing Park, also on the east bank of the Flats. That waterfront public space is not something we want to emulate. Sorry..gotta say this... but it has become a total embarassment.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I'll stand corrected if wrong, but I do not believe there are any apartments or homes built "right up to the street" in Shaker Square. If there are apartments above the retail that lines the square, that may be...but I think that is all offices. I cannot visualize anything at Moreland Courts that abuts any sidewalk. Again, I might be wrong.

Does the beige coloring on the roundabouts mean that they will be brick? I see there is the same shading on one of the Front St crosswalk intersections (top right)...these newer crosswalks are generally brick. EDIT: Looks like there will be brick http://www.flatseast.com/image-gallery/index.htm

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
^ yeah thats great news --- so fitting because there are a lot of columbians and south americans living on the westside. A little Colombian flavor in Lakewood. Barroco, the one that started it all, has been on Madison in Lakewood for a substantial amount of time. Helvetica is an off-shoot of Barroco.

I guess for not-very-sophisticated reasons. I like the way the new jet black asphalt looks and it tends to stay a little cleaner looking at least for the first couple-few years. The smallest of stains show up on concrete. Concrete definitely does last longer, although that can vary. I remember on the Euclid Corridor at the beginning of Midtown (about E. 30th to 55th), that particular concrete started to break apart and left rather large potholes only a year after the street re-opened. I believe RTA(?) said that the contractor used the wrong mixture. Then they went ahead and filled these holes w/ the (black) asphalt which doesnt look so great.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if it was brick pavers going over the concrete. Perfect location for it.

Good to hear. Hope activity resumes soon. the work stoppage on this is the biggest disappointment this year downtown development-wise, at least for me,

Yes I know what you mean. When I take Lakeside into the WHD and further into the Flats by going down Main Ave hill, that covered street feel is very apparent. I notice that some people from out-of-town remark about it as something unique.
