Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
^Interested to hear about it. I looked back in this thread and I wrote in an April 3 post that there was some activity around there (back in early April). I myself haven’t really seen anything except for the owner (Lucic?) go in and out a couple times.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
This building was boarded up and 'for lease' for a considerable time that I thought it was because the western brick wall is literally in St George's church parking lot. I wasn't sure if a drinking (or a dining place w/drinking) establishment could go here because of its proximity to a church. Evidently an invalid concern now. That's good. I think Cleveland has some ordinances limiting the uses of buildings that are very close to schools, and I extrapolated that to churches. Or maybe Im thinking of something/somewhere else??

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Thanks, Strap! An update in the Market District area of OC...plastic has gone up on the windows in the former Ohio City Blooms space and workers were going in and out yesterday. Last account I heard was to convert it to the bar-restaurant "Town Hall" by Fabio Salerno and others. I remember reading the dollar amount at 1 million. Maybe someone knows if the information has changed, if it indeed has...

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
I cant really answer that THe relationship between UH and CWRU is a very complex one and involves so many layers of contracts and agreements to create the symbiotic relationship where both benefit. Of course because these agreements have expiration dates, a lot of time is spent every so many years re-working the relationship. Among many other things, I think a recent overhaul of the "relationship" was partly to blame for the ouster of former CWRU prez Edward Hundert. Not to go off-topic but his problems were many-layered. Im digging into my memory bank now so dont quote me on anything. :-)

Yeah Uh wanted to demolish all of it (the apartments and all of the homes) about 12 years ago for a bigger-footprint Wolstein Research Bldg. Opposition to this plan saved the housing stock and made the Wolstein building plans conform to a smaller lot.

The rumor going around the block club is it's going to be some kind of pizzeria-cum-upscale brewpub. Just a hunch but I think the stained glass window was uncovered. Just a hunch from watching events un-fold there. I'll stand corrected if wrong. I like the idea in the rumor mill

I believe it's almost entirely Case students. I've walked that street countless times and I also park on it now and then... and that's the impression I get.

I cant imagine that green staying on either structure in the near future. The house is just too much...it's not so bad on the Station. Still, I think they'll nix the green. I guess we'll soon find out. I dont know of any date

Im not really a Sub guy either. In fact I had my first Subway sandwich this past fall at one of the Euclid Ave locations. I cant understand why those are so popular (arent there like 5 of them now on Euclid Ave in downtown-CSU ?). Now cheesesteaks, I dig those. I've had a ton of them in Philly since I spent many summers there growing up at my aunt and uncle's. That ad for Penn Station that KJP posted is enticing. Btw, Potbelly's 515 Euclid store opens Wednesday June 6, per the sign on the door today.

I asked yesterday but got no takers. Im impressed that you definitely know (applaud)... 'cause it is literally straddling the border. JMO though...the part of Franklin that accesses these terrace rows seems like the D-S Franklin. I think RR tracks(?) cut Franklin in two (near W. 85th).

I don't know why I think this, and I could be totally wrong, but I thought that the green house went with this and that it would be incorporated into the project. Although, it definitely looks like it caught fire... so maybe it will be demolished? Depending on how much space the addition in the back takes up, I would think that the rest of the available space back there is for parking?

At least they're getting some TLC. That increases the chances that they'll be around maybe for a future wave of gentrification. This part of D-S is admittedly rough but it has some interesting architecture and urban-living. I plan on taking more pictures of it some time.

If a gathering of people on a 50 ft L-shaped street, on one lonely little weekend in May, contains our dirtiest people...then we're doing pretty good. Fact is, there are large swaths that go on for miles, or key intersections (like W. 25th & Detroit), that out-dirty anything on Hessler. I love this town, but we're not that pretty.

It seems like these terrace row houses sit just inside Detroit-Shoreway, around the 8700 block between Detroit Ave and a 'no-outlet' extension of Franklin Ave. They're situated almost just like the Cudell terrace rows...facing each other, etc. This side looks almost done Same side but at the Franklin end The work is just beginning on the oppposite set of rows Same row but at the Franklin end (not yet started) The alley between this just-starting side and yet another stretch of rowhouses The front entrances of the neighboring rowhouses. Maybe these will be renovated soon?

I also took a couple shots of these. They're around W. 87th or 90th, cant remember...& Detroit. That would be Detroit-Shoreway? Or still Cudell? EDIT: yes, I agree, Detroit is way too wide there

Your cousin's kid takes a good picture. So, this could be Coventry Street Fair, circa 1979?? That tradition lives on
