Cleveland: Cudell / West Boulevard / Edgewater: Development and News
This is in the heart of the Cudell so it would be the southside of W. 117th area. No? These terrace row houses are getting a new lease on life (they're a Nat'l Historic Landmark -- not sure when that was designated). It's essentially two very long buildings that face each other with retail and/or apartments on the ends (this all sits between Detroit, Madison, West Blvd and W. 101st). Right now, a big brick building on the corner also seems to be getting rehabbed. As well as one of the streets, W. 101st. This side is not yet under construction THis side is starting to take shape The storefront area on Detroit The taller brick bldg at W. 101 & Detroit W. 101st St

Really? I asked the guard who checked my ID and he said no problem taking pictures, just respect people's privacy and don't take pictures of the table games. Great pictures. I got the vibe that it was un-welcome too. Glad somebody took some.

Zoup at 2nd & Euclid is "temporarily closed and will re-open under new management." I wonder if it will re-open as something other than a Zoup?

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Thanks! There really wasnt any fog, or clouds for that matter. But there was high humidity and no wind which probably added to the ethereal 'look' of Key's lighting. The BOE is really in a unique and interesting location. Would love to see it developed soon. In general, E. 6th is a great street, getting better.

Sorry to sound like a pimp for Jake's lately, but they are open 24 hours now. They are on Public Square, across Ontario Street from the casino. Can't get much more convenient than that. Yeah that;s awesome. We walked over to the casino yesterday evening..mostly to eat at B-Spot and have a cannoli at Rosie and Rocco's. I asked someone at the counter at B-Spot their hours...she said midnite during the week and 2 AM on the weekends. I asked the same at Rosie and Rocco's...he said 1 AM during the week and 3 AM on weekends. Or until the last pizza is gone for each night. I dont know if those are in synch with posted hours, but that's what I was told.

Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Yes, I sure did. :-P Speaking of across the street, here is the awesome view the Calfee has at night (or early morning). The BOE definitely would be a stunning hotel ... MayDay...a bittersweet moment -- time for another one to go in the Completed Projects section? Although it is nice to rack 'em up in there, means stuff is getting done.

Great job on this one. Exterior fully lit now for a few nights. Again, CRM, Calfee and Cleveland Construction (and the Nat'l Park Service) did a great job.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
^Trés vrai. I believe it's the 60s (I'd be surprised if it wsa the 50s). I was using "70s" more as an adjective to describe its appearance/style, that was so mod for that era.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
Yes it's great to see. The 70s skin was removed summer of '09, so this would be the first movement on this in 3 years. Wow, it's been like pulling teeth.

I suspect they were removed for the exterior cleaning. Now that the cleaning is long since completed, I agree that they need to be brought back. They are still doing some restorative work on the outside of the building, especially the PS side. I think until that is completed they wont be back. Not sure if the Superior side is finished or not, but I don't think so. Seeing this from the PS side this weekend as a casino visitor really made me wish that they had some kind of banners on the Renaissance explaining that restoration work was in process. We pretty much all know that but, of course, someone form out-of-town, or a local unfamiliar with downtown, might look at it and interpret the situation wrongly. It really is in a "shambles" state right now (including the Superior side to some extent). It doesnt bother me because I love the fact that it is getting restored. The cornices were replaced a couple years ago, as was some lower window ornamentation. Now, they have everything in between. The 100th anniversary is in 2018 (i believe). It should be well done before that.

It's going to be a plus, but i dont know if it's that significant. But I definitely applaud the enthusiaism

I like the building (so far) And I think it's good that it evokes feelings from people who wouldnt otherwise be interested in buildings/architecture.

Cleveland: Downtown: A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building Renovation
No, but the lighting did accent it somewhat. Hard to tell from the picture. Of course that western view is now just nothingness at night, save for some lighted office windows.

Ok, then it is a complaint against state law(s), not the casino. I drank Stoli so i dont know what a beer cost, but maybe that was for a Heiniken (or something?). A Miller lite would be less??

Had a great time on Sunday at the casino, brunch was awesome. I dont like to talk numbers but I spent 300 on gambling and then another 100 on our food and drink. But I won a goodly amount so it was all free and I'll be spending the winnings in urban core places to keep it in the local economy. I think the complaint about no free drinks is valid. All the other complaints are highly highly questionable.

Yes that is substantial amount of work, but they cant keep the lights on at the courthouse on the river (cost-cutting measure?). THese lights near the top havent come on for a year... (April 2010 picture)

Well anyway to get my mind off that^ for a minute... I was at a red light and decided to snap a pic of the Black Pig logo (i had to become a contortionist as this lady walked right up to the crosswalk and shielded me from an easy pic). I like it.

I dont like being the bearer of bad tidings especially re this, but some of the fianancial backers have pulled out of the Santorini Restaurant venture on W. 25th in OC so it will not be happening. Tommy says he still has the desire to put a Greek restaurant somewhere in the urban core but this one is off the table. This sucks.
