Exploring Cleveland
Glenville, with all due respect this is a silly premise that you're taking. Are you going to sue Google streetviews or Bing's bird's-eye views for having the audacity to include streets in neighborhoods like Glenville, Forest Hills, Woodland Hills, Buckeye, etc. etc.?? There's nothing to hide, and if you don't like it just turn the channel, to use a TV metaphor.

Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
Yeah I asked the staff at the W. 9th location several weeks ago about this location, and they said April 26. They must've run into construction delays but it sounds very close to opening.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Thanks, yes I remembered reading a comment (couldn't remember if it was on UO or not) that lamented the fact that the wayfinding signs only said " Casino " or " Casino and Tower City " , or something like that, and nothing else. Those signs must've been the first signs put up because there are many signs referencing many Clevleand points-of-interest.

They're gonna have awesome views of the Standard Bldg (one of downtown's best). The ballroom area seems like it's gonna be quite a place.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
That is one of the most assinine articles I've seen on Cleveland. Why is this on the "I love you" thread???? sidenote: those pictures contain, I think, like 1 of Euclid Ave (in E. Clev...which is Cleveland...let's forget the imaginary lines). I definitely like the pictures but they are mostly on W. 25th St in the MetroHealth-Trowbridge area, no less. The 1977 picture is on St. Clair (around London Ave.?) in Collinwood. Euclid Ave.??

^Thank you. Zack, if you took the pictures the same time that you posted the photo thread then I must be wrong in assuming this has been razed. By mid-Feb (or earlier) the site for the new Belmore was cleared. If you took the shots in April, then the old apartment building must still be standing somewhere else in E. Cleveland.

^ and^^ Totally understand but unfortunately that kind of authenticity cant go on forever particularly in the city center. That's that fastest way to get something, or some area, razed. Im glad that those who were chomping at the bit in the late 70s and early 80s to level everything east of the May Company Bldg (all the way to the Rose and Schofield) did not get their way. I would guess they saw it as a quick way to erase the blight. Luckily almost all of it survived (except for the Hipp and for the Central Mkt area southside of Prospect).

Nice. Im totally down with these kind of photo threads. My only grumble is...are Flickr photos always this size? Prob dumb question but I know nothing about Flickr. EDIT: Im guessing that Belmore Apt building has been razed for the new Belmore (CMHA Senior Citizen). Too bad

Wendy's was there for many years, at least through 2004. My boyfriend ate lunch there once a week when he was working downtown and sometimes I'd meet him. Of course, summer of 2004 is when they tore up E. 4th to make it what it is today. And I agree that I'd take E. 4th today...anyday...over what was there. Im old enough to remember the rip-off pawn stores, wig shops, and fast-food restaurants. It cannot be glamourized. Great Picture!

^^ It's really not that bright. But I understand your points. Without seeing the pictures, Im going to go out on a limb and say that there is some kind of photography artifact going on.

I cannot see the pictures here at the workplace, but I dont think that this video board is that bad. I actually think it could've been bigger. I'm wondering what the pictures look like that everybody is referencing as garish... Many more people than just those going to the casino see this since there are various reasons why someone might be driving or walking on W. Huron or Ontario or on the Lorain-Carnegie bridge (from which it s visible). It does add energy.

Yes, definitely. EDIT: Oops Actually, the carriage house is leased. It is the garden level of the main house that is for available.

Just like at the Schofield today, there were workers at the Stanley Block inside and outside doing more activity than I've seen there in the last several months (although the building still looks the same at first glance). They're either preparing for demo or doing some of the "diligent" repairs necessary that are to be performed by this Sunday May 6. Those May 6th "efforts" listed in Pianka's ruling include hiring an asbestos expert and also having workers inspect the facade for safety. It would appear that's what they are doing. Either way, it looks like a week after that (that'd be Sunday May 13) is the day that this all comes to a decision point...on the 13th, a demo permit must be obtained or the 2 efforts must be reported on. Clock is ticking.

For the record, as everybody now knows, this attendant didnt have it quite right. The Casino interests are only 'leasing' this parking lot.

Not strolling, but one day last week near dusk I stopped off to take a picture of this newly renovated house (and rear carriage house) on Upper Prospect. Talked to the man walking who is the architect-owner of this. I believe it's the carriage house that's 'for lease'.
