  1. Yeah my brother-in-law was kinda sorta thinking about putting a restaurant here but, lo and behold, somebody else already got to it. W. 9th is seeing renewed interest because of FEB. We just need the street re-paved, please.
  2. Get pictures wherever you can...inside, outside, street scenes etc.
  3. update at top of thread
  4. I hope this is for that loomingly large brick wall...
  5. "BRGR9" coming to 1382 W. 9th (formerly Zdara) As the sign says...Burgers, fries, shakes and salads. Should be good since I'm pretty sure that the same owner of Heck's is in charge Heck's burgers downtown...yum
  6. The Great Lakes tradition in Cleveland for the second year
  7. Dyngus Day...Appropriate timing to highlight some of the Eastern European heritage that is such a part of Tremont! Cincy and Cbus look great. THey just freshened up this place, one of the more well-preserved homes on Lincoln Park. Wish they'd nix the chain link fence tho. Also, there's a neat old commercial building near here (b/t St George's Orthodox and the Lincoln Pk Bath condos) that is under a "historic" renovation and currently for lease/build to suit. Can't wait to see that completed.
  8. "I added Cleveland to the thread title so people know where the photos are from." No problemo MayDay, thanks
  9. updated photos top of thread: Public Square side at night. It's so nice to see this classic building as something to gravitate towards instead of something to steer clear of.
  10. Heavens to Betsy. Thanks for the kind words, especially from the Columbus and Cincy guys. I'm kind of burned out on making photo threads. Although I have an idea or two. I did make several but I cant think of which ones still "exist", since I've moved my Photobucket folders around, I mean albums. "A New Day in Cleveland" recently done by jmicha and any of MayDay's surpass anything I could do. By the way, I was at the W. 9th St Constantino's this morning and asked when the Uptown store would open. They said April 26. Maybe that's already out there but it was the first time that I had heard an actual date.
  11. I was walking around / driving around in UC after work Wed and Thurs. Was wondering if I walked by Stanley Saitowitz and didnt know it, haha. I took some pics of Uptown and the general UC area.
  12. It's kinda amazing how many interesting shots you can get in that short block (W.2nd/Prospect/Huron).
  13. Casino update, mostly night shots
  14. A bit much to digest all at once. Happy to hear about Hodge's humming along on a Tuesday. Still need to make it over...
  15. Ugh is right. But I dont see how that could be true. The Barley House group is supposedly going for the old Ohio City Blooms space (next to Alaturka), the one that they want to remodel for a million and call Town Hall. Btw, 806 Wine Bar Closed, Joe Cimperman Trying to Block Former Owner From Taking Over Space http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2012/04/04/806-wine-bar-closed-joe-cimperman-trying-to-block-former-owner-from-taking-over-space
  16. Glad to hear that El Guero has improved. I went once early on, and was not happy about it. Their business really slowed down but hopefully the changes will keep customers coming back, or thinking of coming back. THere's gonna be some competition for WHD fast-casual soon. If the WHD Barroco Grill is anything like the Birdtown location, people will probably choose to go there over El Guero. Renewed activity at Tomo Japanese. Hauling in big items last night.
  17. ^^ from the moment I heard it didn't make sense. Surprised it made it to UrbanOhio
  18. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but ... Marlin Kaplan's Dragonfly, Garage Bar close in Cleveland: Restaurant Row Published: Tuesday, April 03, 2012, 3:26 PM By Joe Crea, The Plain Dealer "It's a drama worthy of Tolstoy or Verdi, but at least this much is clear: At this moment, the doors are closed at Dragonfly and Garage Bar in Ohio City. There's plenty of he-said/he-said between the restaurants' principals, chef-operator Marlin Kaplan and landlord Adam Waldbaum. 19. I thought he did have an ownership stake in it, but that's just my guess. I do think this is bad timing (actually there's no good time for stufff like this) with the Market District's resurgence and all the festivities planned for this summer and fall. It's unfortunate for a lot of reasons, I hope replaecments are found soon.
  20. I asked because Marlin and Melissa have just gone through a divorce (still going?). If I recall correctly, she got Luxe restaurant in the divorce
  21. Is this about Jeff and Ursula, or Marlin and Melissa?
  22. As far as i know, Yes. Btw, the coffee at Nexus is terrific. And Im not a regular coffee drinker
  23. Black Dog Kitchen and Bar opening this summer at 8th & Euclid http://www.facebook.com/BlackDogKitchenandBar/info
  24. Love Jonathon Sawyer's last line: "We're tired of being behind the rest of the country," Sawyer says. "We'll open every kind of niche concept to keep our city viable."
