  1. but I'm asking you not to post as such, so you dont confuse anyone. It adds nothing to the conversation. YHGTBFKM It's the developers playing games with the name.
  2. "this project" = The Wolstein / Fairmount Properties FEB project. The structure is not in the East Bank of the Flats at all. It is in the Warehouse District, since it is bound by W. 9th St, Front St., Main Ave., and W. 10th St.
  3. This page, albeit short, contains posts from suburbanites or expats. Is it any wonder parking is the main worry of any developer?
  4. These shots show this is a WHD project. The part that's in the FEB will be open-air / greenspace. A big yawn from me on this, the renderings look too suburban-Rockside Road. The one good thing it should do... is get W. 9th repaved. I can't imagine that minefield, especially under the Main Ave bridge, will be found acceptable by the new tenants.
  5. Changes coming as soon as this Fall?... Reviving old Chinatown Published: Sunday, August 28, 2011, 5:41 PM By Robert L. Smith, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/08/reviving_old_chinatown_whateve.html
  6. IMO, freshwater is conveniently overlooking the Cooper/Kinko's Bldg demolition. It is very likely -- and they've got to know that. CSU has said though that there's a small chance (very small) the facade could be worked in a final design. I see this going the way of the Corlett.
  7. Im very glad Market Square Park's renovation is underway (started yesterday) But did every "old-growth" tree there have to be leveled today? There's nothing standing. For shame
  8. According to the renderings, East First St. (the covered alley that runs along the May Co Bldg from Prospect to Public Square) gets extended into this project. It terminates near the first floor Valet Drop-off area but there are other points of entry/exit for it. It looks like you could valet and use E. First St. to walk to the Prospect Ave sidewalk.
  9. We do know that there must be other exit/entry accomodations planned since...from Friday August 19's article in the PD..."Craig Wasserman, an architect representing developer Rock Ohio Caesars, told the group that the skywalk probably would open a couple of months after the casino." (http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/08/cleveland_officials_okay_casin.html) The Casino is, by all accounts, opening without the bridge.
  10. The two-story building is being replaced by a two-story building. As much as I dislike the taking-out of the Columbia and the addition of this autocentric "Welcome Ctr", mostly because those things change the Lower Prospect neighborhood forever, I am for the skywalk and don't mind that it pierces into the back of the Higbee Bldg (it'd be a different story for me if it was somewhere else). It's needed. And not everybody is going to use it. It's an option and, as has been said, "connected" spaces were probably part of the deal. Not everybody is a twenty-, thirty- or forty-something looking to paint the town red before or after gambling. And not everyday's weather is like today. Still, people will be out on the sidewalks year-round. It seems possible that the Americans With Disabilies Act might even come into play here.
  11. Deering Vintage is going in 1836 W. 25th St (most recently the Yellowcake pop-up shop). Dragonfly is building an "elevated patio" behind the restaurant to have views of downtown. To be completed in September.
  12. Totally agree. This should not be demolished. Don't count on it surviving though. The William Tecumseh Sherman bulldozer brigade is probably salivating over this one.
  13. Crop Bistro's website has been updated with a blurb about their new location and a good picture of the bank's mural that evidently will be in the bar area of the restaurant. http://cropbistro.com/
  14. RE Banh Mi Dragonfly in Ohio City may have these on the menu in the (near) future.
  15. It's summer break
  16. I was wondering what was going on here. So, with the two homes over at 108th & Magnolia possibly being razed and now the ZBT house on Bellflower probably being razed...that's 3 mansions in this historic area that we're going to lose. Despicable. The march goes on and on...
  17. The Columbia...Homes in Magnolia-Wade Pk district...the Cooper School of Art. More casualties in Cleveland's unstoppable march towards blandness.
  18. Probably the "Holiday"
  19. As far as I know it will be not that different than Mercury. Actually there is a full page ad for it on the back page of this week's Scene magazine...shows their logo, etc. Definitely a lounge/dance place.
  20. 1392 W. 6th In the former Mercury location.
  21. Slowly but surely this is coming along. One of my faves downtown. As I anticipated, the "completion date" has been changed to Fall 2011 (originally scheduled as June 2011). This pdf contains a glimpse of some of the interior work. The interior should be just as stunning as the shell. http://www.clevelandconstruction.com/ProjectPDFs/CCI_Rockwell-Profile.pdf
  22. The ball is now rolling on acquiring Clean Ohio Revitilization Funds for the demolition of the former Holiday Inn/Viking Hall and the lovely former Kinko's building next door (bastards). The placard is up on the property announcing this.
  23. ^Well, this stepwise procedure has to be completed first. The latest... State Controlling Board approves CORF grant for John Hartness Brown buildings. In this link to the Controlling Board, the JHB project is at #46. Clicking on DEV0101638-12, it shows this was approved at the 7.11.11 meeting https://ecb.ohio.gov/Public/ShowAgenda.aspx Evidently funds will be released this Fall.
  24. Thanks EC for your diligence to downtown. RE John Hartness Brown This from a June 29, 2011 Ohio Dept of Development press release http://www.development.ohio.gov/newsroom/2011PR/June/8.htm This from an early 2011 City of Clevleand Dept of Economic Development (scrolling down gives detailed info and a rendering of the project) http://www.city.cleveland.oh.us/clnd_images/ED/PublicNotices.pdf
