It's nice sweeping these series because they of course provide a cushion. The recipe for making a playoff appearance is to win all the series against the "bad" teams and split or take the rubber game against the "good" teams. It's all about the series.

Highland Square needs somewhere to buy groceries of some sort. I lived there in the mid-90s and would go to the Sparkle Mkt. I believe that was the name. Mustard Seed would be the best choice for now though. I still go to their W. Mkt St. location in Montrose.

The Rockwell location would be the best place to start this, even if it is somewhat away from the current activity of Asiatown.

I was thinking the same thing. At one time most parts of downtown were nearly all blade signs.

The isolated street is W. 28th. That has Ignatius's football field on one side and the other side is the rear of Dave's Mkt and the Great Lakes production facility. It's been known for a long time that this is not a great place to park, at night anyway. If this happened in broad daylight then the perpetrators have gotten ballsier. I think W. 26th might have erroneously been mentioned. Anyway, the Market District wants a SID by 2012 which would help fund safety patrols. EDIT: I;m just talking about the small stretch of W. 28th that I alluded to. The stretch of W. 28th with Light Bistro, a few B-n-B's and some of OC's best housing is not isolated at all. I would think this doesn't occur over there.

The Chinato blade sign is up. Looks great, a definite 'plus' for the street.

At W. 25th & Jay, the facade of the Near West Woodworks has been removed and a barrier placed around it This bldg had a for sale sign on it for a long time.

For me, thumbs down on the St V's demolitions and soon-to-be demos. Those are classic buildings to be replaced by blandness. I understand though that it is difficult for hospitals to include these kind of buildings in their (state-of-the-art) futures. On the bldg already gone...they did save the archway entrance and they have moved it out to the corner of the site on Central Ave. as though it will serve as some new entrance or as a decorative piece. It'd be great if they could save a lot from the facade of the next building facing demolition. That bldg has a lot of ornamentation that could be put to use. ^^Yes this should definitely help. If the Board of Ed bldg can get refurbished as a hotel in the not-too-distant future then these hotels, and things like the Calfee, should create a need for retail from the increased foot traffic. Retail could go around E. 6th/Vincent area, in the very cool Fidelity Mortgage Bldg and others.

^^Good to hear! It will be great if the same experience can be had on those 70° - 80° nights this upcoming summer. The beautiful summer weather and the fact that schools/colleges/universities are out ramp up the volume. If the relative civility continues, then last summer's B.S. will just be a blip on the screen.

At this time E. 18th could be considered far west but that may change over time as Asiatown eventually bumps into the Campus District of CSU and its associated housing/residential component. The city is probably thinking long-term. Good. We need connectivity. Perkins has everything to do with Asiatown, it's just south of Payne. It is rightly considered a boundary to the neighborhood. The sidestreets b/t Payne and Perkins contain the shotgun houses that characterize other residential parts of the area and have many Asian households. There are only warehhouses north south of Perkins. The first wave of immigrants were in the middle part of the nineteenth century, i.e. mid-1800s. That may have just been a trickle and probably account for the Ontario settlement. By the late 1920s the Rockwell Chinatown finally was conceived and, by 1930, built. It's true also that more immigrants came in successive waves after this time through the mid-century.

Great news. The chances of E. 6th St becoming a premier street are increasing all the time.

These prices are similar to other quality places around town. I suggest you look at the menu for Tremont Scoops. Btw, anyone buying Jeni's ice cream in Cleveland (me included) is paying 9.99 or 10.99 a PINT! It's good so I'm not complaining.

RE Mkt Garden Brewery, I've seen it mentioned a couple times lately that the opening would "be later this year". That's up for interpretation, of course.
