Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
The second floor windows above Chinato have been papered for about a week now. The former Tenth Floor/Bridgeline Software Mgmt's offices will now be home to a law firm. http://www.blackrocklp.com/pdf/01312011Lindner%20press%20release.pdf http://www.blackrocklp.com/commercial/

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
If I may go back in time....in this June 2007 article Ari Maron points out how wildly interested prospective tenants are for E. 4th. If we name just 3 places (that are named in the article) that means he turned down 150 others 3-4 years ago. 150! According to him. I would love to know what some of those were. "For every deal we do we probably turn down 50 deals," he said. "It's got to be the right fit." http://blog.cleveland.com/earlyedition/2007/06/artslife_new_spots_coming_to_e.html

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I really like how the Celebrezze building looks now, but we'll see... Renovating Cleveland's Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building...Whatever happened to ...? Updated: Monday, January 10, 2011, 7:30 AM By Plain Dealer staff Whatever happened to the $121 million makeover of Cleveland's Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building? The stimulus-funded makeover is progressing and on schedule, but changes to the building won't be visible for more than a year. The 32-story office building at East Ninth Street and Lakeside Avenue is among federal buildings across the country being renovated to become more energy efficient. About $5.55 billion will be spent on the projects over the next several years. read the rest at: http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/01/renovating_clevelands_anthony.html

Youngstown - retro downtown tour 2002
Very good thread. I know this theater has been discussed several times on UO, but has the fate of this building been determined yet?

Cincinnati: Historic Photos
I think the usage of "single family homes" is a misnomer here. The great majority of Cleveland homes were/are Cleveland doubles or triples. Even some of the smaller frame houses scattered around had 2 or 3 families living in them. This was extremely common in the immigrant families in Slavic Village/Broadway. It was commonplace 75-100 years ago. Also scattered around the city, but really evident in Little Italy, Slavic Village and some of the near-west neighborhoods is a second home on the property, usually behind the main house. This was for either older family members or younger ones who were newlyweds, etc. That was done when zoning laws alllowed for that...something else from yesteryear. I think the aerials with the A-frame rooftops are misleading people to think those are single family. Only a small amount are.

I vaguely remember a somewhat bizarre 90s movie with Matthew Broderick called "A Road to Wellsville" or something like that. I guess I can google it...

It's a wrap
Can't help but notice the coments about the fog picture. Good feedback for me because I didn't think much of the picture at first and I wasn't going to post it. Also for fog...Here's a cell phone pic a relative of mine took from Key Tower (late Nov or early Dec)

Good shots of the Juvy Justice Ctr. I agree, it's too bad that it has to be so big.

My trip to Cleveland - November 21, 2007
As we approach the fourth year from when these pictures were taken, it'll be interesting to watch how much here will change in the coming four years. As of now, some of these Flats streetscapes are the same, in fact the area in the first 5 pictures is even worse but of course i understand that is due to the stalled FEB project. How I long though for the original buildings on Old River Rd. btw, Good photos Andrew.

It's a wrap
Thanks for the comments! Some of you may notice a few of these pictures from a deleted thread earlier this month...I was asked to post them again. Not sure what church you're talking about MTS, the two Victorian Gothic masterpieces are Catholic. I'll admit those interiors are awe-inspiring to the point of intimidating. Here area the 2 Pentecostals:

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
A couple small, but important, retail items to post here. first, at 2912 Euclid Ave directly across from the University Studios Apts (E. 30th & Euclid) a new coffee shop and hookah place called Pasha Cafe has opened. The gentleman in there tonight said food will be avaliable in a week or so . There is no sign up as of yet. Down the street in Univ. Circle...the 'Circle Convenience' is closed for remodeling through the end of January, accdg to a notice on the door. This is in the same bldg as Luchita's Express, Falafel Cafe, etc. Good news here because the interior of this place was really subpar and, if memory serves me right, I don't think it had air conditioning. Walking around UC on hot summer days and then walking in here was not fun. Maybe that will change.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Thanks for this update and I second the yay for Asiatown. I've been wanting to go to the E. 30th Cafe as well. Evidently it's run by the Hom family and I have liked all of their other places...Li Wah (in the same shopping area), King Wah in R. River and Ho Wah in LaPlace-Beachwood. The odds are good that this new one should be worth a visit.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Glad to see another one of Ohio City's commercial buildings getting some attention. This is around W. 32nd & Lorain. I don;t know if this is a stabilization thing or part of a full restoration, but I'll take it.
