Cleveland: Clark–Fulton / Stockyards: Development and News
the last of the original structures at the 4-way Clark Ave & Fultion Rd intersecton has been down for a while now (Zannoni's). 60s/70s facadomized but original structure A (?) Rally's w drive thru looks to be almost complete. unfortunatley the intersection namesake of the Clark-Fulton neighborhood now is as auto-centric and suburban looking as somewhere out in Macedonia. Big parking lots in front of a Rite Aid, Walgreens, a gas station and now a fast food drive thru. this is what happens without "gentrification." At least (just away from the intersection) Mazzone & sons italian bakery still prospers KJP's article: http://blog.cleveland.com/thesun/2007/07/zannonis_is_moving_west.html

the new Corner Alley really makes that corner come alive as the place literally spills out onto the street (in nice weather)

^ yeah by the time it opens itll probably be 1.5 yrs out from when Symon gained control of the space. Thats short compared to the pushing-3-years for hansa Haus brewery in Oh City and Arcadian in D-S. I like it Yes the sign has that iconic mid-century urban diner look. Like the diner scenes in TCM's 'up all night' station breaks. But the sign rendering is nothing more than the La Strada' sign - that has always been there - but in a different color , and La Strada was decidedly not a diner. Just this week....

Cleveland - Buona Festa
Thanks mu2010 for the information. I dig the Detroit / W 65th old neighborhood. Micro-Italy i think is how some refer to it. Yes its hard to believe that this is Ohio City's southern neighbor (and Tremont's western neighbor). BUt I-90 makes it seem worlds apart sometimes. To put it into perspectve, St Rocco's Church is only 5 minutes by car down Fulton (maybe 4 minutes if you make all the lights) from the Bridge/Fulton epicenter of Oh City (for the cool cats out there, thats only 4-5 minutes from Le Petit Triangle Cafe). And oh, sorry, to my italian places in Little Italy, tremont, Parma, Cleve hts, downtown , Euclid and River....but this is quite possibly the best for Italian in Cleveland, Bruno's on W 41st Street. (to put its location into perspective, its prob only 3 minutes by car down W 41st from the uber hip Jack Flaps in Oh City)

The Unionville tavern is looking as bad as Ive ever seen it :( from this month- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
recent observation at 618 Prospect: There's a sign in the window.... "Construction Event Storewide sale / everything half off / our loss- your gain" there's also a (generic) illustration of a bulldozer on this sign. So i spoke w someone assoc w Mr Albert's Mens world and asked : Will you be moving to a new location? and do you know when demoiltion of this building will take place? "I don't know" was the answer to both questions i guess theres the possibility that the "Storewide sale" may just be because of Prospect's pavement re-surfacing?- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
^thanks , and they've added the refrence to the Hotel- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
fyi the signage (nucleus logos on the signage, etc etc) has changed at the property. no huge deal but is different- Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments

Nice! Didnt get to go but overheard some at the Tribe game tonight say that they were going to take the train back to this station. Btw the game just ended!- Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
MAybe there is some news on this but i dont know about it...there is what appears to be a new power substation being built on Chester near E. 89th. Directly on CCF property. And recently the tall victorian home at the corner of E 89th & chester (http://www.orcahouse.org/) has an "available" sign on the property. That historic home must be the tallest victorian in Cleveland (the picture on the orca website has its scale out of order). I dont think that that part of E. 89th St is in the protected city Historic District. Shameful if CCF buys that and knocks it down.- Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
There are 2 buildings opening in a just a number of days that are supposed to incorporate the terra cotta of the demolished structures that came before them. 1) Cle School of Arts and 2) CSU's CIMP. In both cases, i believe, the agreement was that the salvagd elements would be incorporated on the interior. CSA is using the original CSA's facade. CIMP is using the (?) Cooper School of Music's facade. itll be interesting to see if this is indeed the case w/ both of these new bldgs.- Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Watterson coming down (last week), may already be largely gone- Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square

Love the Clarence Macks in LAkewood, you have one of 'em photographed here. there are also a few of them in Shaker, notably around SHCC /Courtland Blvd- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
there's a netting that makes sense. THat cornice is very delicate , looks just like the one on the City Club building, and the building is uninhabited. Letting buildings fall into dangerous disrepair hopefully is becoming a thing of the past, (inspections? especialy after what happened at Garfield, soon Corning Pl. , and one of JHB's facades). Perpetual nets probably wont go away. I believe this is actually known as the Kendal Building. If accurately restored (?when accurately restored) it would look fantastic. No matter what, it is in my top ten favorite dt buildings (*low-rise Belle Epoch commercial building - a rarity in dt Cle). For this cluster to be demolished would be a terrible thing. Btw as i understand it, the far left building's c.1930s "modernization" will not be removed b/c it is historic in and of itself. I wonder where all of this stands now (quoted from the G'Way thread): *edit- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
"TOLI" is a work in progress last i saw. Looks and sounds like its gonna be neat. Pizza Fire in the old Zoup loction opens on Tues Aug 18 and evidently it will be open until 11 PM. That stretch has become a dead zone (hard to believe) at night since NoodlaCat now closes at 8. As of right now only Chipotle has lights on late. So we'll be back to 2 of the 4 staying open late after Pizza fire arrives, alleviating (somewhat) the strange dead-zone feel after dark currently seen at the top of Euclid ave. - Exurban Cleveland - a drive through winery and nursery country
