Cleveland Subway/Bridge Tour + Surrounding Area 2009 / 2010
These are very good pictures particularly of the Stonebridge area, and the West Flats in general. I didn't see these when they were originally posted.

North Linden, Columbus
Thanks for the tour. I like seeing all aspects of a city.
-
I went somewhere. I took photos.
Columbus looks fine. I don't think the "winterscape" scenes create a mood as much as the cloudiness does. If it had been a sunshiny day, the snow and modern buildings would've reflected the sun fantastically. Anyway, good pics.

Chef Dante Boccuzzi back in his element with new restaurant By Joe Crea, The Plain Dealer January 12, 2010, 3:12PM At the stroke of midnight Dec. 31, 2008, Dante Boccuzzi became a chef without a restaurant. Noted brewmaster Andy Tveekrem returns to Cleveland to pour his energies into microbrewery By Michael Heaton, The Plain Dealer January 12, 2010, 2:00PM He's baaack. Thanks for the exact wording on the sign. I guess I didn't read it clearly.

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
I don't think that I've seen anything mentioned here, or in other threads, about the signs up at the former Susy's Soup in The Park Bldg. for an East Of Chicago pizza place--coming soon. Also, there looks to be something going on in the former Mr. Hero's in the Comfort Inn at E. 18th & Euclid. In the same building there are some renovations taking place in the former Celebrities(?), which was the bar (I think) for the Comfort Inn. And there seems to be something possibly happening in the space to the Right of the front doors of The 1900 Euclid Ave Lofts. Anybody know anything about these?

Ohio's Carnegies - 3 Successes, 3 Failings
I saw this one on Jefferson Ave in Cleveland's Tremont. Were these later, simpler editions of Carnegies? It sort of looks like the Brooklyn branch you have pictured. Sorry, btw, if this is already in this thread...

Broadway Cleveland
^ I don't think there's a possibility of something like that happening anytime soon. The neighborhoods of Slavic Village and Broadway cover a lot of ground, plus the city doesn't have any "disposable income" right now for new hires ... as most cities (pretty much all governmental agencies in general) are cash-strappped. Here is a website with some info on the neighborhood

Whitopia: A controversial view of sprawl
CDM--Totally true. I'm just wondering about one thing. We are talking strictly along racial lines (this has nothing to do with religion, sexual orientation, etc.)... and we are also talking about things that will certainly take a couple generations (if not more) into the future to resolve. The racial make-up of America is, of course, changing day-by-day. At some point in the (somewhat) near future, non-Hispanic whites will be 49% of the population and dwindling therefrom. At some further point, there could conceivably be 4 racial/ethnic groups at about 25% each of the total population. (It will most likely not be exactly so...but you get what I'm trying to say). This is going to influence all decisions in the future. We, living in 2010, can not even begin to imagine the possibilities for all involved, but also the compromises that will have to be met. No one living in America now has lived in such an America where there is no clear-cut majority group. How will this affect relations, etc. among all of us? Will there continue to be just one village or multiple villages? I wonder.

On a lighter note.... I guess I won't be doing a photo thread on the St. Patrick's Day parade in a couple months. LOL sorry, Back on topic...

Whitopia: A controversial view of sprawl
I'm not saying that women or Irish have to defend anything. It's clear that there have been a fair number of allusions to drunkenness and pugnacious behavior of the Irish in this thread and one of the photo threads. I'm a grown guy though I can handle it. I felt the need to point it out though. With respect to women...I'm saying that a bunch of guys are , for the most part, deriding the remarks of a woman for how she may feel on a train, especially with a small child... or in other scenarios that she gave. By default, we can not totally understand exactly what she feels because almost all of us are guys. It could be that other women may think differently. But we're talking about RnR's coments here.

Whitopia: A controversial view of sprawl
What kind of a question is that? I don't know what's in anybody's heart until I know them. And I'm not going to extrapolate anything from what she has said, since being labelled "racist" is not a thing to take lightly. I do think though that there has been some sexism, if I dare say so, in the treatment of RnR and her concerns. Just sayin'

Whitopia: A controversial view of sprawl
This is a bit off topic but what is with all the Irish-bashing on this website lately??? It's in this thread and some of the photo threads. WTF? :? I am offended as someone who is Irish. I guess the "Irish-need-not-apply" attitude still exists....

I'm pretty sure it's "Zoup". YUM! Which I think would be a great addition.

Cleveland's Kamm's Corner
I've not had a cheesesteak in Philly, so I can't compare to an authentic, but I thought it was pretty good. I got the Cleveland cheesesteak which was a normal cheesesteak (shaved steak, onions, mushrooms, peppers & cheese) with a side of an au jus-like gravy for dipping. Sounds good. I'll have to get over there

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
I am of the mindset to wait and see what something is like until it is completely finished. And then come to some sort of conclusion on it. Much like McCleveland implores us all to be. I intend to move to the 668 at some point. But I must say, if construction were to end today and 1) that west wall looked like it does today and 2) those "sheds" looked like they do at this moment... I would not be moving there. But thankfully there are a few months to go. So we'll all see soon.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I believe that's called the Southworth Building. It is part of the Park complex. Last I knew, it is supposed to be the indoor parking garage and fitness center for the residents of The Park.

Thanks. Is there any chance that those are authentic Philly style Cheesesteaks ? (if you've had them---especially in Philly---you'll know what I mean)
