  1. They're finally installing the angled-out portion of the eastern facade. See attached pic from the webcam this morning. I duped it below and highlighted the angled panes in red, in case it's hard for anyone to pick out. Should become much more apparent as we get more of these angled panes, as they'll reflect light from lower in the sky.
  2. Eyeing the renderings, here's where I think the angled portion of the facade will fall (starting with the next level of glass). Ignore the lower left half of the line, lol, I suck at Photoshop. ;-)
  3. I'm guessing those might simply be windows on each floor's elevator lobby area, like you see in many hi-rise hotels ... ?
  4. Lol, as much as I love the glass, how awful to see it reflecting the Justice Center! ;-)
  5. Maybe. :-) If I'm counting right, we have one more normal floor of glass to be installed on the east side—after that will be the first to include a section of the facade that starts to angle out. I've been eagerly waiting for that, to see how it'll look.
  6. Forgive my lack of Photoshop skills this early in the a.m., but the Cleveland School of Arts is actually visible in my aerial, above. Here's a part of it zoomed in ...
  7. One of the things that most surprised me when studying the photo was how friggin massive the VA is!
  8. Hope you all will enjoy this aerial shot I got of the whole UC region on Saturday while flying home. You can see many of the current projects, including Upper Chester and the CCF Holiday Inn and Cancer Center ...
  9. Was flying home Saturday and went right over downtown. Was aiming to get photos of the new Hilton and I realized this morning that the one shot had a pretty nice view of PS, too. :-)
  10. Flew over downtown on Saturday and barely was able to get a view of the construction site. So cool to see it from this angle! Enjoy.
  11. Am I crazy, or was that long narrow 4th floor balcony-type concrete protrusion facing the mall not on any of the renderings? I couldn't recall seeing that feature, and in a quick look back at some of the renderings, I can't quite see it. Maybe this is a replacement, of sorts, of the outdoor space we lost on the 4th floor of the Lakeside frontage?
  12. This building is more stunning every day ... grows on me more and more.
  13. They totally cranked them out Sunday morning from about 8 am to Noon!
  14. OMG, the Savage Lovecast is the best thing ever. My boyfriend and I are OBSESSED with it. Dan Savage is so great! It's done by the sex advice columnist Dan Savage, who writes Savage Love (available in many free weeklies).
  15. We drove by last Saturday on the way to Parade the Circle (sorry, couldn't take any snapshots), and both my partner and myself were pretty dismayed at how bad Phase 1 looks. I'd been so excited for this, but the materials/color look incredibly dated already. :-(
  16. I'm already referring to it as the Dreary Plaza Hotel in my head.
  17. Interesting, thanks for sharing!
  18. Ram23, I'm familiar with 56 Leonard Street, but I'm not a huge fan of it, not sure why. What I like about this Bangkok design is how the pixelated portion wraps up around the otherwise traditional boxy glass tower. Looks weirdly post-apocalyptic to me.
  19. Here's a rendering of it completed:
  20. I think this building's design is one of the most spectacular of anything that's currently under construction. And aspects of it remind me a little bit of the nuCLEus tower proposed for Cleveland. Anyway, it's slated to be 75 floors and 1,026 feet. I was fortunate enough to be in Bangkok for a work trip last week, and on my one free day, I walked a couple of miles in 100-sh degree heat to get a closer look at this beauty. Enjoy. :-)
  21. It's also pretty visible now coming up I-77 northward into the city. :-)
  22. I cannot get over how awful that looks. They've about ruined a beautiful ballpark. :-(
  23. Maybe I'm alone in this, but the 515 stuff makes me nervous. I think that old original rendering of the tower is ugly, and my worst fears (born and raised in CLE, what can I say) are that that thing gets built and nuCLEus gets scrapped down the road. It's be great if he builds both (and has a newer, better vision for the 515 tower), but personally, I'd like for the full focus to be on nuCLEus, which would be such a game changer.
  24. I find it a tad bit surprising that they didn't have the new Hilton rendered in there for that video. It would have given a much better representation of the city view + the final bridge project, as it'll appear fairly massive from those angles.
  25. I vaguely remember that Wendy's...I wish we still had one downtown though Yes, I occasionally ate there in the mid-to-late 90s when I was working downtown. There was a particularly grumpy older woman (who was very mannish, looks-wise) who worked there. She'd bark at you if you dared to move two tables together to accommodate a larger party. And she'd barely grunt a word at you if she was behind the cash register. I was always amused at how little she matched her name: Angel.
