  1. If you haven't checked out the webcam lately, you can now see the panels being installed on the west facade, mostly along the 2nd floor on the left side of the picture. http://www.clevelandmedicalmart.com/about/live-web-cam/

Excuse my horrible Photoshop skills, but the yellow outlined ones are some of the ones that always strike me in person as off in color.
  3. Ok, must be Toby Keith's "I love this bar & grill" thing ... ? http://www.wlwt.com/money/26376050/detail.html

No, even in person, it pretty distinct. It is certain panels all the time.
  5. Does it rhyme with "Schmapplebees?"

Strangely, some of the panels have a much more deep black color and some have a slight greenish tinge. Very odd, not sure I like that.

    From last Friday ...
  8. Cool, thanks roserob!!!
  9. Here's a thought. With all my focus on watching the cut-in portion of the tower develop, it has occurred to me that I've never seen a rendering of the building's east face. All of the pictures on the Flats website show the western facade. Not that I expect that there would be a cut-in on the opposite side of the building, but I worry that there might not be the same variations in cladding or detailing that you see on the west side. It would be a shame if the design was far blander on the "back" side of the tower, because that's the one that all of downtown will see.
  10. Thanks ... and dave68, don't put too much faith in the shade from my pic. It's a zoomed in part of a crappy phone pic. The colors/shading could be way off from reality and it wouldn't surprise me! ;-)
  11. They looked pretty bad in person, actually. I was kind of like, "Oh." I, too am hoping they look better up, with the glass as well. Fingers crossed!!
  12. Went for a walk/drive at lunch today and took a couple of shots from the 2nd floor of the Marriott. Also saw a truck delivering facade panels!!! What timing I have ...
  13. Somewhat related ... I work in the Stonebridge building at 2019 Center St. (the one with the Cuyahoga County Engineers office and the Viaduct Lounge—formerly Ponte Vecchio) and we had a huge water leak on the 5th floor of the building two days in a row about 2 weeks ago. Water was pouring down our brick walls on the 3rd floor. Not saying it was K&D's fault—no clue what led to it—but really just a bizarre situation.
  14. I think it's a bit of both.
  15. Thanks, gottaplan! I figure that the bump-in CAN'T be any lower than that, because there is no one-floor cutout in the floor plans up to that point. So, yes, I think this thing will be a bit taller than we're imagining. :-)
  16. I've been wondering for a week or so as to whether those double-high pieces of steel on the NW side of the building represent the exposed columns from the cutout portion of the building. And I'm pretty convinced of it after staring at the building during my run at lunchtime. See webcam shot and rendering with area highlighted.
  17. Amused to see this big structural member coming up I-71 this morning!

The cam is up and working again. :-)

No, the more I see it, I'm sure that this has to be some sort of underlayer that they are going to put the black/glassy skin over. It looks nothing like the renderings (colorwise) as it is.
  23. Walking from my car into work this morning (I work in Stonebridge on the West Bank of the Flats) and a trucker stopped me to ask for directions to Sycamore St. I apologized and said I've heard of it but don't know the street names around here at all. So then he says he's looking for the aquarium. Oh! I point him in the right direction and he thanks me and drives away. It was then that I realize he is hauling countless HUGE bags of sand. Amused me to no end. Guess things ARE progressing ...
