Did some drive-bys after Parade the Circle yesterday.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Went for a jog through the east bank today (yeah, I'm crazy, it's 90+ degrees) and they're pouring the concrete pad. Woohoo!! (A coworker heard on the radio about it, that was what inspired me.) Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I was chatting with the owner at lunch today and mentioned the new sign and how much I liked it. He said "there was a lot of excitement around here yesterday when they put it up." Unless I misunderstood him?

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
OCB is one of my favorite places around. Great food; the owners are such down-to-earth, nice people. Went there for lunch today and congratulated them on the new sign. It really looks great, and bet it will be an eye-catcher at night in particular.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Wow, MayDay, nice one! I really didn't expect to see any structural steel for quite a while. That will make this summer's progress even more fun to watch!!

Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
I walked down to the Powerhouse about a week ago with tlazar39 ... we both now work a couple of blocks away in one of the Stonebridge buildings. There was a whole lot of nothing going on. We walked in and all around and it looked abandoned with the exception of a sales & marketing luncheon going on upstairs. Can't wait until this really gets going. :-)

Cleveland: Downtown: A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building Renovation
I'm dying to see what this will look like. Litt made it sound like approval would likely take place at the Tuesday meeting. I was hoping it would be unveiled yesterday or today (yeah, I'm impatient). Anyone have any insight into how quick (or slow) the GSA will be about this? :-)

Okay, looking at those photos, here's a dumb question that never occurred to me until now (sorry!) — Will they dig out and replace that one length of St. Clair or leave it alone? Not sure what's going on underneath there structurally. But it will look pretty bizarre having two gaping bathtubs on either side of St. Clair for a long while. And I'm sure driving down St. Clair will feel a bit bizarre, almost like you're driving over a bridge ...

Cleveland: B&O Railroad Terminal Building
Here's a rendering from about 8-10 years ago, when they were going to turn it into the Cleveland International Heritage Center.

Any frequent hotel travelers on UrbanOhio?
Sorry for the late response, the last week has been insane! It can be. I'd prefer to quote people, but I'm also working in some comments with, "A lawyer based in Texas..." kind of blurbs. rockandroller, PM coming your way!

Any frequent hotel travelers on UrbanOhio?
I’m writing a story on hotel guest loyalty programs, from a frequent traveler perspective. I'm looking for a handful of people to answer some questions on why they earn with certain programs, or what they like/don't like about their preferred program. If you play the "points" game or know someone who's really into it, pm me or respond to this thread, would love to include your thoughts (I've got some specific questions I can send). :-)

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I'm stunned by what Gilbert said! Totally agree with it, but wow, to say that publicly. Maybe that was a letter he should have saved and then re-read tomorrow morning. I encourage all of you to turn your anger into something positive with the "Cross out 23" campaign at NEOKidsblog.com. It's just sort of my way of channeling my anger/frustration, but please share the link with your friends, and let's do something for Cleveland that is positive. :-D

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I'm starting to worry about the glass wall on the north side of the convention center, looking out to the lake. While it will likely be stunning, does it stand in the way of a better future development? I've long wished for a grand staircase of sorts or a Mall D (maybe something futuristic like that great, swoopy Public Square proposal) that would truly connect the malls to the lakefront/Rock Hall/GLSC etc., in a pedestrian-friendly way. I can SO see leaders (I use the term loosely) saying for the next 50 years that we can't do that because it'll block the view from the convention center. Look at how the intermodal proposal above is already tiptoeing around blocking things.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
Brown has north and south mixed up in that article, doesn't he? I'm staring at the diagrams in my Sunday PeeDee—and his descriptions of the locations of the two new theaters seem transposed directionally.
