  1. Short aside; being on the forum this morning inspired me to try typing, "A photorealistic view of downtown Cleveland in 2050 if all local proposed skyscraper projects had ever been built." into OpenAI's image generating software — just to see how bad it would be. Giggling at the results. Enjoy the CLE that might have been! 🤣
  2. A bit of a different view from this afternoon. It's really starting to stick out from more places downtown!
  3. Was able to catch a glance at the site just before landing at Hopkins last night! 🛬
  4. Two cranes in one photo ... from landing just a bit ago at Hopkins. 😀👍🛬🏗️
  5. It's even visible from our offices on the 26th floor of 1111 Superior! Well, barely ... 😉
  6. Yes, can you at least give us a timeline as to when this sort of news may drop?
  7. Totally agree! I left Cleveland to go to school at Georgia Tech in Atlanta ... at the time (late 80s), the two cities were much more similar in size. When I go back to Atlanta today, it's amazing to see how the city and state have embraced GT and realized its potential as a research center, incubator, and technology/manufacturing hub. The campus is growing in so many directions, even across the connector. I hope that Cleveland takes a cue and does the same with CWRU in the coming years.
  8. There's a good nuCLEar bomb joke in here somewhere ... 🤣
  9. Here are four random old projects I did find while looking; some of you may be amused.
  10. Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about! The "shaping the vision" one. I just looked and don't think I have mine any more. 😕
  11. I have (or had) that and know exactly what you're talking about ... it was also on a calendar at some point. I also seem to remember that some of the scales of the different buildings seemed weirdly off, like they played with the perspective a bit. Let me dig and see if I can find it.
  12. You all will be happy to know that Marie has apparently gotten herself a great new job at Cold Stone Creamery! 👍🍦📞
  13. Me too! I can remember walking toward the front doors of Terminal Tower onto Public Square, and I'd stop in such a way that I could only see the finished facade portion of Society Center through the glass — and imagine what it'd be like to have the whole thing completed. 😄
  14. I'd love love love it if the roofline was dramatic and structural, like P+C's 1180 Peachtree in Atlanta. Probably won't be, but a guy can dream!! 😉
  15. Ugh, I think that's borderline hideous. Don't like at all. Looks clumsy and IMHO will practically ruin the skyline view from, say Church + State.
  16. A bit more on the meeting tonight ... You are invited to attend the first Public Meeting of the Cuyahoga County Lakefront Public Access Plan! Announced by County Executive Armond Budish during his State of the County address in 2019, this plan aims to improve transportation networks to increase public access to Lake Erie in concert with shoreline stabilization efforts. We are just at the beginning of this public engagement process and want to share information and gather feedback from residents, business owners, and lakefront stakeholders like you! Lakefront Public Access Plan Virtual Public Meeting When: Thursday, January 28, 2021, 7:00 p.m. Where: Virtual Meeting, accessed at: www.countyplanning.us/lakefront This plan is a collaboration among County departments with an experienced consulting team led by SmithGroup. We are excited to share initial findings, learn more about your hopes for the lakefront, and answer your questions about this process. Please learn more on our website, send us an email, and attend the meeting. See you then!
  17. Several entities are participating in a study of the eastern lakefront, from roughly E. 40th through MLK Blvd.: • ODOT (interests are reduced wave action on I-90 and possible removal of old CEI power plant bridges) • Port Authority • Cleveland Metroparks • City of Cleveland • ODNR The Study team is starting to look at possible future project concepts. There is a community meeting on Tuesday night, Feb. 2nd at 7 p.m. The following link has information on the concepts and a survey you can fill out to provide your feedback ... https://www.clevelandmetroparks.com/about/cleveland-metroparks-organization/planning/cleveland-harbor-eastern-embayment-resilience-stud
  18. If we have to have a box, this would be a better option, has a little more panache. It's the new tallest proposed for Oakland. Kendall Heaton Associates is the architect of record, and Pickard Chilton is the design consultant. https://sfyimby.com/2021/01/elevations-revealed-as-415-20th-street-heads-to-oakland-design-review-committee.html
  19. OMG, I can't believe what I'm reading! For a lot of reasons, but partly because we've been driving across the country to Phoenix since Thursday — and am way behind on UrbanOhio. Literally, 4 hours ago, we were in downtown OKC at a stop light; my son was commenting about how tall the BOK building looked through the sunroof, as we were right next to it. I pointed out how you could see the reflection of the Devon Energy Center in its facade. But of course if I'd have read this all last night, I could/would have taken 1,000 pics of it from every angle. Dammit!!!!
  20. I'm told by a very good source (who works for something that rhymes with FODOT, lol) that this is still being discussed ... so hopefully!
  21. For some reason, when thinking about this development, my mind keeps going back to Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. Something like that setup, where several buildings support an interesting roofline over an outdoor courtyard would be incredible — both for SW employees as well as other downtown workers.
  22. Love it except for that hideous outdoor wall. Looks like the back end of a Costco. They need to put a big mural on it or *something*. (I just tweeted that at them!)
  23. No, that was Zaytoon. ?
  24. Agreed! Love it. My first impression was that it's very Vancouver, which is a plus in my book.
