  1. As far as I know this face is carved right into the tree but I think they used paint or something to stain it. The other "face" I believe is just something they tacked on there. This house is not too far from where I live but you have to go up a very steep hill to get to it. I find this place both "whimsical" and a bit scary. (Not sure why). But very pretty flowers, etc. all around.

I was given this huge fern last week for Volunteer Appreciation week. Decided to name it Audrey. :D

I think I pronounce it differently each time I say it. :/ Sometimes I think I say bis at the end and sometimes bus. Weird!
  5. I need to find a new place for myself and my grown son (possible Autism) to live. We currently pay $595.00 per month rent for the house with detached garage (full of our junk). I am looking into 1-2 bedroom apartments or maybe another house. Do not really want to pay more than $450-$500 per month. Hopefully someplace that pays utilities as well. Also in a safe area of course. Range of $350-$500. Please if you could let me know if you know or hear of any places. I have also been checking online, etc. Thanks!

I think I'm a mixed race. My mom was from the south and my dad was a "Damn Yankee!" :D ROTFL!

I am rather pissed right now. I cleared my front porch, steps and walkway so the mail carrier can get through, but the damned city as usual- has piled all the snow from the cul-de-sac right in front of the walkway/steps leading up to my house (it sits on a hill). Now the mail carrier will not be able to get through. It's too much for me to shovel an opening. I call the street maintenance/snow removal people but I don't think they really give a flip. I live in Dayton.

Thought I'd start a "Weather" thread. (Please advice if there is already one on here and I will delete if you'd like or if necessary). It's snowing here again in Dayton, OH. Not sure just how much snow we already have. I cleared snow just a while ago and it seems I may as well have not bothered! Lost a member of the church I attend to this stuff. He was out shoveling this past Wednesday and died of a heart attack. He was 82 years old. I don't have a job I have to get to so I am not affected by it too much but I do volunteer at several places so.... What is the weather like where you are and how is it affecting you?
  11. Beautiful!
  12. Some pics at the church I attend. Community UMC, Dayton, OH February 14, 2010 at about 9 a.m. or so.
  13. My m-i-l lives in a town called Lewiston in Michigan up near the tip. I haven't been there in many years but I do know they sure get the snow!
  14. Thanks everyone for the compliments. I wish I could find the pictures I took when we got socked in '04 with a big snow but I don't know where they are. I think they may be on my computer which I am not using (long story).
  15. Here some pics I took this Tuesday. 1-9-2010 My car after I had already cleared it off at least once (maybe twice!) My house Fire hydrant looks like it's wearing a hat made of snow! :) Some planters on my back (side) porch My neighbor's pine tree Snow on the branches in the tree in front of my house Looking across cul-de-sac from my front porch Neighborhood kids trying to shovel out cul-de-sac Neighbor's snow fort
  16. Nice pictures! I go up and down this street almost daily on my way to and from places where I volunteer. Nice to know more of the history of the various buildings. Thanks! :)
  17. I love the Dayton Masonic Temple and it's grand & beautiful (no denying that!) but Springfield has a really neat looking Masonic Temple also. I don't have a picture of it. It looks like a castle if I'm not mistaken.
  18. Well he's still laying on his side and they don't seem to care or make any effort to put him back up. They have another smaller Santa on the other side of the house who's more or less laying down as well. A bit to the right of this Santa here is a inflatable snow globe with a carousel that goes round and round night and day. My neighbor next door to me can see it from her big picture window and says it's constantly on. As of yesterday I noticed "Big Santa" is gone. He has either 1. Been stolen or 2. Taken down The Snow Globe still spins round and round. :O

    VERY NICE!!! :)
  23. Well some are more so than others but yes, I can put up with it. I think it's kind of funny. I told my son that if that's the worst they do we can consider ourselves lucky. :) Some of my neighbors still have pumpkins sitting on their front steps along with the Christmas decorations! :/
