  9. Absolutely Beautiful! I wish I could go back over there and visit. It's been about 31 years since I was in Germany.
  10. Here are some pictures I took while out walking today. Not all of the trees are changing colors yet but I took a few pictures of the ones that were. The last picture is of my neighbor's flowers. I think they are pretty and colorful so I took a picture of them. :)

Any guesses as to who that is playing the horn in the "Jazz Central" Mural? I am guessing may Dizzy Gillespie but I'm just not sure.

Beautiful! Seeing those boulders/rocks reminds me of Clifton Gorge in Yellow Springs.

I had a hard/interesting time trying to photograph the Dayton Canoe Club mural as it is so big and I don't have a camera that is capable of taking in the whole mural in one or two shots. Also I had to wait for traffic to go by and shoot when I could. Riverside Drive is rather busy.

Well I wouldn't say it was terrible for me but I'm sure it was pretty rough for some people. I know people who were sick and elderly didn't fare so well during that time. Especially if they depended on electricity to run medical equipment they needed. Also if anyone had damage to their house or car or person .... I think I remember that at least two people were killed from it here in Ohio.

I think we were without power for about a week. I remember I had to go to a friend's house in Kettering to do laundry. She had power on her side of the street but the power across the street from her was out. Also in my neighborhood there were some streets that had power but others didn't. We still had hot water so I was able to do dishes and take showers. Was interesting when it got dark. Using flashlights and candles. My neighbors across the street had a generator so they could even watch TV. I remember ice was hard to come by and so had to call places to find out if they had any. Wound up giving some of my hamburger to a neighbor since I couldn't cook it. I have an electric stove. Did a lot of reading during the day as no computer access unless I wanted to go up to the library or the church which both had power. I did a couple of times. Also used church to plug in my battery charger and recharge batteries for my radio. Also recharged my cell phone there. It was a rather interesting week.

I just remembered- last year we were getting hammered by strong winds. The remnants of Hurricane Ike. I remember standing looking out my bedroom window (with the window open none-the-less!) watching the trees swaying back and forth. Worrying if the one in our front yard was going to come crashing down. We did lose several limbs from it though and many more from the trees in the back yard. A few rather large limbs too. But thankfully no major damage from the storm. Some of my neighbors didn't fare so well. :( I have some pictures of the limbs in my back yard but they aren't loaded on my son's computer which I'm using so I'll have to post later.
  21. The one mural between Henry Street & La Belle is located at 1516 E. 5th Street and the business of M & R Electric Motor Service, Inc. is located on the Henry Street side of the building.
  22. I was happy to see that the mural at 1516 E Fifth St was "touched up" and the tagging also was removed very recently. :)
  23. I'm not sure whether this belongs here or whether it belongs in the Ohio politics thread(s). Just wondering about how everyone feels about whether Ohio should have casinos or not. I will be voting against it as I don't believe in gambling. Also I am not convinced as to whether it will help bring in money to the state. If it does, I am not sure if the money will go where it is supposed to. What are your thoughts?
  24. Also wondering- When you hear "Dayton"- Do you think of just the "city proper" or do you think of Dayton and surrounding areas? I guess what I mean is - do you consider places such as Kettering, Oakwood, Beavercreek, so on as Dayton or as their own separate places? I hope I'm making sense. I guess this question is aimed more at those who don't live in or near Dayton.
