Pet Peeves!
I'm sure I have more than just these but here goes: 1. People walking or driving with their cell phone glued to there ear. 2. People talking or texting while driving. I used to think I was behind a drunk driver but now believe it's someone on their cell phone. Especially annoying at traffic lights - when having to wait for someone to get moving and then usually wind up stuck at the light because they were yakking away and then they finally notice and go through but I get stuck! 3. Whenever I hear someone say: "At this point in time." or "At that point in time." , etc. I want to scream!! Why can't they just say "At this point." or "At this time." ??? 4. When people use double talk or big words or phrases because they really don't know what they are talking about or they want to sound important.

Photography/Photoshop tips and tricks?
Well yes- I agree. Such was the case last weekend when I went with a friend of mine back to my old neighborhood. I shot some pictures of some of the houses across the street from where my old house used to be. I had a friend who used to live in one of them and there was an elderly couple who lived in the other. Anyway- a man came out of the house where the elderly couple used to live and wanted to know why I was taking pictures of his house. I explained that I used to live there ages ago and that seemed to placate him. But he still didn't seem too thrilled about it. I brought my friend along because I knew the neighborhood was not as safe as it once was. My friend thought the man might have been concerned because he might be up to something illegal but you just never know. I can understand his concern either way. I remember being somewhat harassed by a police officer once when I was taking pictures at a cemetery once when I lived in New Jersey. Then there is the concern I brought up about seeing a good spot to take a picture or pictures but unfortunately- it's right in the middle of a street or road! :(

Photography/Photoshop tips and tricks?
Now that I've found the right "forum" to post this in- Need/ would like advice on the best times of day and/or times of year for taking pictures of buildings. I obviously don't want to be shooting right into the sun and don't want to have the sun reflecting back at me from a building window when I take the picture. Also sometimes I feel like I would have a good picture if it weren't for all the "junk" in the way i.e. construction, light posts, telephone posts and wires, trees, etc. Another thing is- sometimes I see a spot that would be a great place to snap some shots but realize or remember - "Uh, yeah but you'd get hit by a car if you stood there to take the picture(s)!" Anyone else have this problem? Thanks for any and all advice you can give me on any of this. :)

Dayton, OH- Ya gotta wonder what the story to this is! :)
Reminds me of a time when my dad (who was a bit of an eccentric) was bringing home shoes, only he would bring home one shoe that he found (that is- not pairs of shoes). He told my mom he thought he might be able to sell them to people who only had one foot/leg. He did come up with some wild ideas sometimes! :D

Photography/ Photography tips & questions- Is there already a thread on this?
Just wondering if there is already a thread about taking pictures & if so where/how would I find it? If not- where would be the best spot to start one (here in UrbanOhio.com of course)- well I hope I'm making sense. I know what I mean but I don't feel I am expressing myself very well. Thanks for any/all advice, ideas, etc.

Dayton, OH- Ya gotta wonder what the story to this is! :)
Being that the shoe looks so clean and new- I wonder if it possibly fell out of someone's bag? I suppose anything is possible. But I keep getting this image of someone trying them on and then the bus arrives and they take off with only one shoe.... :D Silly, I know.

Dayton, Ohio-Accident scene memorial-Finlay Street near Monument
It's a shame that people feel the need to get drunk/high/etc. at parties or anywhere else to celebrate. I believe it was determined that the driver had been drinking and then speeding (drive at a high rate of speed) when this accident happened. They said the car hit the railroad tracks and then jumped several feet hitting the fence in front of the business. You can "google" stories about the accident and some will ever show pictures of how the car looked afterward. Horrible! Yes- definitely no need for this to have happened. Very tragic indeed.

Dayton- Oregon
Thanks. Beautiful houses. I like the Oregon too but will not drive down through there to get home anymore as my poor car don't do so well on the brick road even at 25 MPG. So I usually have to turn just before the bridge (RR overpass) and then make my way to 4th and then Wayne and then 5th.

Dayton, OH- Ya gotta wonder what the story to this is! :)
This caught my eye a few weeks ago when I was taking some other pictures. I really wonder what the story is behind this. Found it somewhat amusing. This is the bus stop on Third Street in front of Sinclair Community College.

Dayton, Ohio-Accident scene memorial-Finlay Street near Monument
Here are some pictures of the Accident Scene Memorial where five people lost there lives in a horrible crash on New Year's Day. So sad. :-( I took these pictures yesterday. 8-24-09 I do not know exactly when the memorial was put up but I am sure it was not too long after the fence surrounding the business was repaired but it may have been put up sooner than that. "Shawn Roush, 32, of Franklin, Trisha Roush, 33, and Dustin McDonald, 22, of Dayton, and Nichole Hill, 29, of Bellbrook were killed. While cleaning up the wreckage police also discovered the body of 11-month-old Hayden Phann, Hill's son. All five were pronounced dead at the scene by 12:20 a.m., and all five remained in the car despite the jarring crash."

Dayton- A few Dayton churches
There are two Catholic churches- St. Joseph and Holy Trinity. I do have one of a First Baptist (I think that is the name but it's not that good- I can still post it though). Haven't gotten around to taking any of synagogues yet.

Dayton- A few Dayton churches
I agree- I added Patterson Park kind of as an obligatory since I go there sometimes. And since I'm a member of Community UMC I added them as well. But they aren't quite as pleasing to the eye as the others. I'm quite fond of the beauty of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Oakwood which I attend once a month to go to the Shape-Note singings there. Sept-May

Dayton - Old Dayton View-Meredith Street & Audubon Park (My other old 'hood)
Yeah-I know. It's pretty sad indeed. We were talking with a man who lives over there and he said several of the houses were on the list to be torn down. I remember when we lived over there there was a house in Audubon that was abandoned (now there are several) but some kids got in and managed to set it on fire. I forget the exact year - I think it may have been 1990 but I could be wrong. I just remember my husband coming home and seeing all of the fire trucks, etc. and thinking it was our place at first. Ah- never a dull moment when we lived over there! But didn't feel too safe either.

I remember when The Soldier's Monument (Private Fair) was located on Sunrise Dr. (Edwin C. Moses Blvd). I don't remember when he was moved though.

Dayton - Old Dayton View/Jane Reece Park (My old 'hood)
I need to find some old pictures to post for comparison but I don't know if I even have any. Weird as I know my dad used to take lots of pictures! I'm sure they are probably packed away in a box somewhere probably deteriorating :( I will definitely scan and post if I find any though!
