  1. Pictures taken 8-22-2009 This is where I lived with my mom, dad and sister from 1966 until I graduated from high school and got married in 1971. My husband and I moved back to Dayton (after living in another part of Dayton & then Virginia, Florida & New Jersey). We moved back in 1986 and moved into a house next door to my parents. Both houses are gone now. I think they were torn down about 4-6 years ago and replaced by senior housing. Mostly there is a street running right through where the house stood and the new houses are what used to be the projects which I think were called "Edgewood Court" As with the other post I made about my other old neighborhood- I wish I had taken more pictures, so I must plan another trip and do that. I think it's very sad what became of Audubon Park. There were a lot of very nice homes in through there. There still are but most are towards the end. Why I didn't take pictures of them I do not know. Anyway-our house was next to the reddish colored house. The front of the house was across from Audubon Park and the back faced "the projects". Then there was another house (which we -my husband, kids & I) lived in that was next to my childhood home and then an alleyway. I see that the nursing home is still in business at the corner of Superior and Meredith. I sure wish I had a picture for comparison. I might be able to dig one up and do another post later.
  2. This is the neighborhood where I lived on Riverview Terrace from approximately age 4 until I was about 14. We moved from here in November of 1966 (if my memory serves me right). I wish I had taken more pictures yesterday but I may still make another trip to do that. The house we lived in is now an empty lot (formerly 876 Riverview Terrace. It sat directly across from Riverview Park. Up the street from us was the "old firehouse" that we referred to as "The Witch's House" We were just kids and the place looked creepy to us. The gnarly old crab apple trees in back and to the side of the house didn't help things either. We didn't know until many years later that this was where the famous photographer Jane Reece lived! We thought the old woman was a witch! We then felt bad that we had tried to get rid of her by pouring a mud concoction in her mail slot! Kids! One of my childhood friends lived in the house across the street from me. Her name was Peggy. And the house next to hers was where an older couple lived named the Bassetts. I vaguely remember either us or someone calling them the "Baskets" (I guess they either thought that was their name or they couldn't say Bassett). There's was the reddish colored house. Looks like the awning house come down from the front porch. I will try to make another trip sometime soon to get some more pictures of other houses and angles that I didn't get this time.
  3. Well this makes it pretty disappointing and discouraging for those like myself who are hoping to see some nice photos only to not be able to see them. :( Would it be rude or inappropriate to ask the person to re-post them (in the case of the ones that are missing). Thanks for the information about the bandwidth thing.
  4. I've noticed that sometimes when I click on a subject to view the pictures- I scroll down and there may be a list of what was taken but no images. Or... I see little boxes which say Missing Image or something along those lines or..... I see boxes which state that the bandwidth has been exceeded. Could someone please explain each of these to me? I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot by asking about these. It's just that it's very disappointing to get your expectations up and then be so disappointed when you can't view the pictures.

Very nice! I wish there were more!
  7. I like his work but I also really liked the shelves with the pottery. I don't know what it is but I really like the shot I got of that.
  8. Thanks- I was spending the weekend "pet sitting" for my daughter and son-in-law who live in the Cannery Lofts. They had gone down to Nashville, TN to celebrate their 5th anniversary. I saw it as an opportunity to take some pictures. I had been meaning to get down that way anyhow and take some so I lucked out (so-to-speak). :)
  9. Heh, heh- My daughter works part-time at Blind Bob's. I've never been there myself though.
  10. Cannery Art & Design-Dayton, OH http://canneryarts.com/ I don't think I would ever want to sit on that chair!

  14. I took a break from "pet sitting" for my daughter & son-in-law and visited some of the shops and galleries nearby. These were taken Aug. 15, 2009
  15. I made a point to go downtown and take pics of them as I knew I might not get another chance to do it before they were gone. I wish I had known about them sooner last year and the time before that. I see that some are "repeats".
  16. Why thank you. I'm just recently getting into taking pictures on a more regular basis. I've had my camera for 5 years now (so it's considered "old") but as I mentioned- I'm just now starting to really use it!

  20. Can anyone tell me why Main Street is all torn up and is being rebuilt? Starting at First Street and going down to I guess about Sixth St. they are doing construction/reconstruction (?) work on Main St. You can't even drive on it in some parts now. Would like to know what the deal is and estimated completion date if anyone knows. Thanks I am attaching a picture that shows some of it.

Great shots but would love to know the names and/or locations of some of these places. I know many of them but some I don't as in I don't know what neighborhood they are located in or what street they are on. Mostly the houses.

  25. Dayton "City Life 2009" -Part 2 At first I was upset they had placed the one titled "Holding Out" so close to the barrier tape but when I saw the title it all made sense.
