Grassroots "Ohio-just-as-good-if-not-better-than-other-places" Movement
A lot of people these days need instant gratification. They want their sports bars and lifestyle center's 5 min away. They don't want to take the time to go exploring Little Italy, Coventry, Lakewood or downtown Cleveland.

Grassroots "Ohio-just-as-good-if-not-better-than-other-places" Movement
I have been to a lot of the surrounding states and Ohio is by-far the nicest. Name 1 big city in Indiana besides Indianapolis. Name 1 big city in Kentucky besides Louisville. Name 1 city in West Virginia that has electricity. Name 1 big city in Pennsylvania (on the western half) besides Pittsburgh. Name 1 big city that does not look like a third world country in Michigan. Where else can you live in the heart of a downtown area and only pay $800 a month for an apartment? We are home to a world class orchestra, many hall-of-fames, one of the largest college's in the world, one of the best hospital systems in the world, and Cincinnatti has 10 fortune 500 companies. I dunno but Ohio does not sound that bad to me.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Good point. That would be awesome if all of the lots in the Ware House district were developed by then. If Cleveland were to keep all of those government jobs, get a new bridge, and launch district park, I would not care if that was the only development news for 2005.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
I was really pleased to read Litt's article in the PeeDee today. When comparing the two articles that he has devoted to the Inner Belt, the latest one sounds a lot more positive. and that (gulp) it may become a reality. I know getting a "signature" bridge could be great for Cleveland, but does anyone think that it may hurt the density of downtown? If they open up more land for development wouldn't that make people want to build new buildings on the new land instead of investing in the heart of downtown?

Cleveland: A Christmas Story Museum
It's amazing how this thing is starting to get big. I was listening to the radio morning show Bob and Tom yesterday and they were talking about this house. Bob and Tom thought it was a good idea, and their audience is huge. I think they are syndicated on 150 stations across the nation.

Cleveland: A Christmas Story Museum
What an awesome idea! Its things like this that make neighborhoods unique. It will be interesting to see the spin-off from this. What is the surrounding area like? I know that I will go at least once. I doubt anyone will come to Cleveland because of this, but if someone is in the 'burbs maybe they will travel to the city to see this museum. And the best part about this is this project is done with PRIVATE MONEY! I remember I had jury duty a few years back, and I was stationed at the county courthouse downtown, and one day for lunch I was just sitting by myself and a security guard came up to me, and he took me on a tour of the building. He said that the first scene from Air Force 1 was filmed there at the courthouse. On a side note, I think that is the most magnificent building in Cleveland.

Cleveland: Prospect Place, Joshua Hall, & Mueller Lofts
It is amazing what our public officials in this city b@tch and moan about You would think that city council would just be happy that people want to live in our city and would bow down to the developers who are making these projects a reality. What was at stake here? Did the developer want to buy the garage and build on top of it?

Cleveland: Prospect Place, Joshua Hall, & Mueller Lofts
After the District Park debacle it is really good to see some of these projects coming to fruitition. As stated above "20 here and 40 there will start adding up". That is a great way to look at it. Also, I am sure that most of those apartments/condo's will have 2 people living in them. Although there are no really big projects going on, these smaller projects are starting to link neighborhoods together, and that is how you develop a good neighborhood. The thing that impressed me most was that the one condo building was going to rent its units for $1 per sq.ft. That seems like a lot of money, so there must be some demand if they can charge that much for rent.

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
I have some questions about the red and silver line. Are both of those trains or are they buses? I know the red line just celebrated its 50th, but how old is the silver line? Which areas of Cleveland do they service? Do they have a lot of passengers? Sorry, I am just very uneducated about the Cleveland's public transportation options. Any info would be great!

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
A new cable bridge would be awesome! Not only that, but as Litt pointed out in the article a lot of land would be opened up for development, and we would not have any traffic tie-ups during construction. The bridge would be an instant landmark, thus making major development on the "new" land almost certain.I really hope this gets done. As far as steel prices go, construction would not start until 2008, so hopefully they would come down. I just think this can be a real catalyst for the city and hopefully it can help Cleveland turn the corner. Hopefully it is not too late, and a new Cleveland landmark can be erected. Does anyone have any educated guesses as to whether or not this will be built.

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
I really like the Ameritrust site :-). However, something needs to be done to the outside of the tower. I am not an architect or engineer, so I will open this question out to the experts. Can that surface be painted? Call me corny but I think re-doing that tower, and making that more attractive will kind of go hand-in-hand with the rebirth of Euclid Ave.

Toledo: Downtown: One SeaGate
Another good ethnic restaurant is Tony Packo's. I know it is not a "high class" place, but you can not beat that food. I actually had an internship down in Atlanta this past summer, and they don't have any real good local ethnic restaurants, but you can not beat the BBQ. Another thing that I have noticed while I have lived here is that people's heritage does not mean as much as it does back home (Cleveland). I don't even think that Toledo has a St. Patricks day parade. Do you think the same thing?

Toledo: Downtown: One SeaGate
Thanks for the welcome. My home town is actually Cleveland. However, I re-located here for school. I found it absolutely amazing when I talk to people from Toledo, and they tell me that they have not been downtown for 10 years. I love going to the docks, that may be better then any restaurant area in Cleveland, 5/3 is a beautiful ballpark, but it is only used 50 times a year. I went to club Bijou once and left when people started throwing glass bottles. I totally agree that Toledo is anti-big business, and the unions have control over everything in this town. It tells you a lot when Toledo offers $3 million more then P-Burg and OI still wants out.

Toledo: Downtown: One SeaGate
I have heard from a few sources that OI in downtown Toledo is history. One guy I talked to owns a store there and he said that they most likely will be leaving after the lease expires. Another lady I work with has a husband that works for OI, in P-Burg, and she said that they have already hired an architect to design their new suburban headquarters. This is really sad, people in Toledo just do not get how important a strong downtown is to the local economy. It seems like the Burbs' in Toledo are the place to be right now, and nobody seems to care. :?
