  1. ESPN seems disappointed thus far. Watching the morning talk and reading a few articles on line, one by Heather Dinnich, feels like the punishment (and apology) didn't go far enough...
  2. Totally. Guys eluding/fleeing the police on dirt bikes/ATV's that are speeding & running red lights are about to become roadkill if a truck or car collides into them
  3. I've seen the videos posted on youtube, they post quite a bit. Not the huge rally like what we just saw, but just a few guys riding through neighborhoods to get to some vacant lots, railroad access, etc. Their adventures often start around E 185th. I'd think a TINY bit of police work would uncover who a few of these folks are....
  4. the more details dripping out about this woman and her allegedly crazy behavior makes me wonder why the reporter (ex ESPN guy) actually ran with the story?
  5. That seems like a hell of a stat, that Bush had approval ratings lower than Trump currently does. Especially considering how strong the economy was in 2006...
  6. Results aside, I'm reading that this election is meaningless - the two candidates will face off again in the fall???? Did I read that correctly?
  7. I think there's a ton of spin on this story, but to be fair, it's a huge story - Meyer is arguably one of the top coaches in college FB, second only to Saban. Any sort of a takedown piece on him or OSU is going to be a big story The reporting on the matter is very inconsistent - what Courtney Smith says, what police knew, what university knew, what actually happened, all appear to be different things. I don't doubt at all that people from the football or athletic program were actively working to keep this story quiet, including paying Ms. Smith a visit, possibly giving her financial incentive to keep it from going public. But if Meyer says he followed protocol back in 2015, and university backs that up, it's probably a closed matter. If Zach Smith was pulled off a recruiting trip back then, that might be evidence that Meyer reported it up the ladder. The marital issues of this couple appear to be something worthy of a reality show, which is unfortunate
  8. Here's his competition: 45 Erieview - totally empty AECOM - 55% occupied 55 Public Square - 50% empty 1215 Superior - 75% empty 55 PS is being partially converted to apartments. Buildings such as Fifth Third Center, 1111 Superior, Oswald Center, Terminal Tower, Keith building, Halle, Caxton and Hanna are all pretty healthy. There are some struggling buildings downtown particularly in the East 9th/ Lakeside area but overall it's a healthy market. Yeah the other buildings you mentioned are in better shape but they will never be in competition with Tower at Erieview
  9. Here's his competition: 45 Erieview - totally empty AECOM - 55% occupied 55 Public Square - 50% empty 1215 Superior - 75% empty
  10. I walked this property a few weeks ago. The new owners have a long, long, LONG way to go bring this building up to par. It's very dated inside, everything from lobby, common corridors, restrooms & mechanicals need updated. I think the idea of apartment conversion for a portion of the building, is even a stretch. Who wants to share a class A office building with apartment dwellers? It's no longer class A at that point... the whole idea doesn't make sense. Edit: I just watched that youtube clip above - I saw the renderings of those new apartment towers last year. Never happening. I wonder what, if anything will actually change at this property.
  11. I read the same rumor on the message board. Said she called 911 dozens of times saying he was beating her/chasing her, and he was on campus at the time. At the end, 911 stopped sending a car. Powell police apparently testified on Zach's behalf at the divorce hearing. The woman allegedly freaked out when Zach was going to lose his job because that meant her child support (means of living) was going to drop way down as she doesn't work. All this is total rumor mill of course but if it's true at all, it would explain why none of the other coaches' wives did anything when she was texting them all...
  12. I think the smoking gun here is less about the text messages to Urban's wife and more about the life coach who visited the wife and tell her not to press charges... To me, it's almost believable that Urban's wife would not mention it to him. But its not possible to believe these guys paid her a visit and Urban didn't know Maybe Urban will drop dead before the hammer comes down on him sort of like Paterno did. He does have some sort of heart condition after all right?
  13. how about the veiled threats by Zach Smith & his wife to bring the entire program down? The reporter made mention of it twice in his interview on ESPN today, almost saying but not quite that there was something more serious that would take the program down if it were made public....
  14. Reading more this morning, I think he's probably done.
  15. "football culture" indeed. Meyer will get a stern reprimand but not lose his job. It would be a terrible precedent to fire a head of a program over something like this. Any head of any team or organization. Should my boss fire me because I hit my wife? Maybe? What if he heard rumors but never any facts? Hello, wrongful termination/defamation lawsuit! Was Meyer supposed to conduct an investigation into the guy? Fire him on grounds of morality? Who's to say this guy's personal life wasn't already discussed long ago behind closed doors and a group decision was made to keep him around for awhile, let him make amends. We'll never know... I agree with this. I also think Meyer is smart enough to realize when he was getting himself in hot water and how to stay at arms length from a shit storm he probably saw coming on this.
  16. ^sounds like the bill was written almost deliberately for the Nucleus project. I think the Weston Warehouse project is dead last I talked to some folks in the know at the City The term "Class A" office space hardly applies to most of Cleveland's downtown buildings anymore. E&Y tower, Key Tower and 200 Public Square are all that offer full service buildings with real amenities attached like a restaurant. Even One Cleveland Center, or PNC or North Point which are nice buildings, are a B building in most other cities. Cleveland has a LONG way to go in terms of attracting Class A tenants before it justifies building another new office tower. Tenants are taking less & less space with flexible work schedules, open floor concepts, etc
  17. Very true. Nothing grinds my gears more than hearing Clevelanders complain about f****** parking. REALLY!?!?! I walk all the time and that "pit" parking is much farther than you think. And it's mostly full as it stands now. There really isn't as much parking nearby as you might think.
  18. how the heck are they going to manage parking during construction? the surface lots are basically full most days and overflowing the rest. Taking even half the lot away is going to cause some chaos. Should have built another parking structure on the north lot before they did that last apartment building. Something that could've had office or residential built atop it
  19. somewhere in a box full of boxes, in the basement on a back shelf, I have a pietasters CD from college. a "live" version I think. Some fun songs. Never quite mainstream though
  20. Can anyone confirm how many apartment projects are currently underway (not planned) but actually being built? I know several projects but not actual number of units 1. May Company 2. Play House Square Tower 3. Terminal Tower 4. Beacon Building (515 Euclid) Flats East Bank (planned) Tower at Erieview (partial conversion to residential planned) If anyone can help weigh in with actual units and timelines, it would be great - thanks
  21. wow I'm out of it. I"ve never even heard of most those places, let alone been in one. Hard to be excited for the shopping but I'm sure the development will do well.
  22. Did you read the press release or the links? 24 other sites were evaluated.... Also, this is not "Geis" as in Geis Construction/Development. This is separate investment/development team led by Fred Geis, who is no longer part of Geis Construction... http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2016/10/geis_cos_ownership_shifts_from.html
  23. That's a really interesting article. I've lived all over the midwest and while I'm excited for the future of Cleveland, it's got a big uphill battle compared to Columbus or Indy or even Detroit at this point. Many things to point at as obstacles but I truly think the 50-some municipalities is a big road block. I deal with real estate projects that compete from Wickliffe to Highland Hills to Solon to Bedford.... every 2 bit mayor and economic dev official wants to land a project regardless if it makes sense for their community or not... meanwhile places like Medina are growing simply because they have land, nothing else. How do you change all that??? well it's going to take a big hand to come down & force the matter. I thought Kasich started the process but it seems to have stalled.
  24. Even if they had the money to do it themselves, the City would still be burdened by their own baloney procurement processes for hiring architects, contractors, furniture, technology, etc.... no way. Doing what they did was the only way to get the deal done
  25. not sure why the news is reporting that it's a $60 million purchase.... it's a turnkey lease deal. Unless they get the facility at the end of year 15...
