Perhaps something to do with Port Financing package. Weston and other developers can save 8% on sales tax on a development when using the Port as finance partner

US Economy: News & Discussion
Latest job report out and it's not good. "US created 38,000 jobs in May vs. 162,000 expected" "There's one word for it, which is just shocking," said Dan North, chief economist at Euler Hermes North America. "Unfortunately it does look like a trend. It's not great news. The drop in the unemployment rate was primarily due to a decline in the labor force participation rate, which fell to a 2016 low of 62.6 percent, a level near a four-decade low. The number of Americans not in the labor force surged to a record 94.7 million, an increase of 664,000." http://www.cnbc.com/2016/06/03/us-nonfarm-payrolls-may-2016.html The weakest recovery ever is over. We are heading back into slowdown.

Cleveland: Cudell / West Boulevard / Edgewater: Development and News
Residential is a very viable option for this site - in fact I think it's the best option. Continuing infill and momentum along Detroit is critical. Battery Park is built on much more contaminated site. I hated this idea for the Kennel being located here without even considering TOD. It's really a dumb idea. Matt Zone or someone really needs to explain why this is being located here

CLEVELAND - Spring Meetup
another fun venue I'd love to hit is Sunset Grill at Whiskey Island. They have new management (again) this year and it's got a really good vibe. It's not a brewery though

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
^I thought he was hurt. Looked like he was nursing his knee on the bench. Not sure what Dellavedova adds when he's on the floor. He was getting burned on defense and was never open on offense, wasn't even looking to take a shot... Toronto was on fire last night, great ball movement, tremendous defense. Totally different game if Cavs hit a few more of those 3 point attempts in first half.

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
So many things to consider for casual observer to this project. #1 is the size. it's truly immense. #2 is the apartment conversion. Having this in place drives the value of the retail component. They are also somewhat related in terms of overlap, parking requirements, access, utilities, etc The apartment conversion is not necessarily related to any retail on first floor but they are very closely intertwined.

Can't believe there were 20k more people working downtown in 2002. That's a big number

Cleveland City Council
^ I just wonder how many council people will have the guts to vote it down

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
it seems like Cleveland, east side especially, is going through a really rough stretch. Multiple shootings is becoming the norm for the weekend. Councilman Zach Reed witnessed a shootout right in front of him. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2016/05/cleveland_councilman_zack_reed_8.html#incart_m-rpt-1 And a Cleveland RTA bus was hit by a stray bullet on the west side. WTF!!! http://www.wkyc.com/news/local/cleveland/stray-bullet-hits-cleveland-rta-bus/182461019

Cleveland: Nautica Development
From a marketing standpoint, how many people actually want to live downtown and have their boat right next to the building? This is NE Ohio. We have maybe 5 months of boating weather....

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
FC will not end up in Nucleus and they won't be leaving Cleveland.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
This is big news for a number of reasons. 1. Turning a high profile building like Terminal Tower into residential adds even more momentum and 24-7 activity into downtown, I think K&D has a great opportunity to make this a really high profile address in terms of city living for a variety of people. The building already has great amenities being located atop a train station and next to a mall 2. Forest City going out into the market to relocate their offices will eat up a big chunk of vacancy in other building(s). Guessing 250k sf they currently occupy at TT is terribly inefficent and low occupancy. Their new number would probably be 150k or less. But that's still a big number. 3. It's really remarkable that Forest City continues to shed assets in Cleveland. I think having Terminal Tower no longer be the home of Forest City will take a long time to get used to

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
about 8 or 9 years ago, Cleveland introduced the "model block" program which targeted a number of neighborhoods with strategic locations and better than average housing stock. An area of Detroit Shoreway, Edgewater Hill, was part of this neighborhood focus. These areas received additional resources in terms of streetscape improvements and other "seed money" to make sure these areas thrived over other neighborhoods in Cleveland. So while it may seem reasonable to encourage development in all areas of Cleveland, the reality is that the city is shrinking and it really only makes sense to target the development in certain pockets where it will provide the most positive leverage. I guess my point is that Detroit does get pretty rough past West 80's and will likely stay that way for a long time due to all the vacant land so focus the improvements where it will continue to add momentum.

Cleveland City Council
Yeah this is pretty bad. There are plenty of other people more deserving. The fact that council voted unanimously to rename the street is yet another reason I think we need to Clean house at City Hall. It's pandering. This is the kind of thing that the supporters feel strongly about and the opponents do not. Pandering to whom? The residents of Cleveland? Or to Zack Reed? Who as a councilman wants their name attached to something most reasonable people consider to be honoring a rather disgusting individual

They were facing the other way this morning. Typically there is a large crawler or two sitting on opposite sides of this port for unloading ships

How many Tower Cranes in Cleveland/Columbus/Cincy downtown skylines?
Of course, cranes are certainly not the only indicator of overall development, but they are a quick reference for new construction, something we've really lacked downtown Cleveland.

How many Tower Cranes in Cleveland/Columbus/Cincy downtown skylines?
so it sounds like there's a little crane activity in Cleveland, Columbus & Cincy, but not a ton in any. Just trying to get a general sense of the overall development pace in each of the cities. I think Cleveland has been lagging Cincy & definitely Columbus.

How many Tower Cranes in Cleveland/Columbus/Cincy downtown skylines?
Cleveland has zero now. We had 1 on the Hilton hotel downtown but its gone now. Curious what Cbus & Cincy have. It always blows my mind when I go to other cities and see them everywhere on the skyline. I was in Nashville a few months ago and stopped counting at over 30 that were visible on downtown skyline...
