Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
Bullshit, the guy is dirty. Has been fined multiple times for it, and now will be suspended. He intended to lay out the receiver, no other way to put it. And he is no way a top 3 ILB. How many yards rushing did Pittsburgh end up with? He isn't even top ten Sorry, I got to call BS on you here. The one year he played the full year, 2013, he was second team All-Pro. There were 4 Inside Linebackers on the All-Pro teams, and he was one of them. He is a top talent. He makes plays in the backfield and in coverage on read plays, he sacks QB's, he does it all. Here is the list for you to see it: http://www.pro32.ap.org/abqjournal/article/2013-all-pro-team Secondly, if he wanted to completely knock out Antonio Brown, he could have easily done that. Yeah it was dirty and he shouldn't have done it, I'm not condoning it, but in my mind that was simply a play where he wasn't even thinking, not so much that he was looking to knock him out. You can tell he wasn't 100% when he hit him. If you look at this video here, you can see he puts his full body into it, laying out 6'4", 260 lb. Tight End Maxx Williams. He definitely didn't do this to Antonio Brown: http://www.totalprosports.com/2016/01/10/vontaze-burfict-headshot-maxx-williams-video/ If you're gonna hang your hat on how good he was two seasons ago or that he "didn't go all-in" to knock out Antonio Brown, I guess you've made your point. Every ILB in the league can cover the pass, stuff the run & rush the passer. Ever watch Clay Matthews? How about Shazier? I'd put both ahead of him for starters... I could pick a half dozen more from the other playoff teams Fact is, Steelers had 167 yds rushing and he's gonna get rung up hard by the Ginger Hammer for this latest hit and his past record. Edit: here's a list of top ILB's. Burfict didn't even get honorable mention http://www.scout.com/nfl/story/1560040-nfl-s-top-5-ilbs-mlbs-for-2015

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
I just looked at the map, that parcel will be torn down to become the new east-west connection to BP since Caruso is a dead end
-
Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
If that's the case they would need to have the parcel re zoned, probably show how it would tie into adjacent neighborhood & BP master plan...

Coughlin is not the exciting pick but he's got a long NFL career as a head coach, 2 rings and a LONG list of qualified coordinators & assistants who will come to Cleveland.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Interesting discussion this morning with coworkers on basically this same topic - how long will fans support a failing franchise? how long till the stands are more than half empty? Then what? Haslam moves them to another city? Is this just the beginning of the end?

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Need some established people at these positions if Haslam is serious about building a winning program. Chudzinski and Pettine had never been head coaches before and Farmer had never been a GM before. Was hired as Asst GM, and then promoted to GM after Lombardi & Joe Banner were canned. I could see taking a chance on a coach, but not on a GM. Need at least one of these people to be established "been there, done that"

Cleveland: Shoreway Boulevard Conversion
The issue is trucks and the truck traffic coming up/down W. 25th is a real barrier for Ohio City from a pedestrian standpoint. It's nearly impossible to co-mingle the sidewalk seating and pedestrian cross walks by the Market as well as bike lanes and heavy truck traffic. Ditto for the Detroit/Superior bridge and Ontario, up past the stadiums. These trucks FLY up & down these streets. I see them run the red light at Huron/Ontario all the time. A good route through the flats seems to be the best solution to me. I thought the new connector at East 9th from Canal might alleviate the truck traffic.

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I think they need to stop trying to rely on the credits to make it happen (btw, have they ever tried for the non-catalytic credits?). I feel like this is only going to prolong new life being brought into this beautiful and prominent building. I know they're very committed and excited for their project, but the best option may be stepping aside for someone else who can handle it. Step aside for someone else who can handle it? You know how many historic renovation/conversions Carney, Rains & Goldberg have already done in Cleveland???

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I've walked this building dozens of times, and crunched the numbers. The amount of work it needs to do a market rate apartment conversion with partial parking structure inside, cutting open interior views, exterior renovation, roofing, windows, interior demolition, abatement of lead/asbestos, upgrade of all elevators, mechanical, electrical, plumbing... it doesn't work without the tax credits. Even then, it is probably very tight. Someone would be taking on a major risk

this coming week, 17th or 18th. Geis & other developers closely waiting for this to make their move on the May Co.

Cleveland has plenty of problems to work on. Teen smoking really isn't holding this city back...

The nanny state....except the the nanny is the Cleveland City Council... Cleveland has so many problems with crime, poverty, lack of jobs... How does this even make it on the agenda

Calling Bs as well. No way Haslam pays huge money for Urban Meyer and fires Pettine already. Plus I don't think Urban leaves OSU

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Settlers Point, on West 10th, old Sammy's location is getting renovated. First & third floor tenants signed up, second floor still open. Demo work underway, opening up the windows on front & rear. New elevators & all building mechanicals

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I've heard mixed reactions on Manziel. I heard from insiders that Mccown was a total team player and had a ton of respect among the other players. I also heard many in the locker room wanted to see Manziel play because the felt he gave them best chance to win

McCown is one tough sonofabitch. It seems like the offense runs better with him at QB

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Because the Browns bring such prestige to the city of Cleveland... And I'd actually be curious to see how much of an economic impact the Browns have on the city. I'd expect it's less than most people would think Less. Much less. Much much less. Think about the opportunity cost of the land the stadium is on and what could be done there, be it more Port activity or more multi use development You really think a multi-use development, say like the Flats East Bank (similar size and land-use), would generate more than an NFL team? I'd like to see the numbers. Hell yes. Not even close. Employment taxes, corporate taxes, property taxes. What does Browns stadium generate on any of those levels? A number of the parking & concessions workers are volunteers. How many police does the City pay for to direct traffic around the stadium on that day? Edit: The only real employment taxes is on the players and they pay taxes in other cities half the games in the season. The main offices for the team are not at the stadium, they are elsewhere. The property taxes are basically nothing since the city owns the stadium and leases it to the team for next to nothing.

It was actually a great game to watch if you are an NFL fan. The Browns played hard, made some nice plays on offense & defense. McCown played his butt off and I think the coaches had a nice game plan in place. The special teams killed them obviously with the punt return at the beginning and blocked kick at the end. It goes without saying but in the NFL the difference in a great team and a bad team is not that much. They only have 2 wins but they are not far away from being a playoff team

Gas Prices
Efficiency is a relative thing. Just because you're not spending money on gas doesn't mean you're not spending money on driving. New cars, gas or electric, are expensive and costly to insure. Wanna be efficient & green? buy a used Saturn sedan. run the piss out of it. Now that's cheap mileage.

I love to debate stadium financing and the economic multiplier of having these pro sports stadiums in downtowns. This didn't get debated far enough, in my opinion, during the last time they passed the stadium maintenance funding.
