U.S. House OH-11
while I agree with you on all those points, I doubt many of them were on the minds of those who voted for Shontel. She had a nice smile, looked sincere, and had a nice photo with her & Biden...

U.S. House OH-11
I'll take that as we are in agreement!

U.S. House OH-11
So you dont think there was deliberate and focused efforts by the DNC to get Biden the win and not Sanders?

U.S. House OH-11
Somewhat related, but one of the attacks against Shontel was that her boyfriend got huge contracts... I looked up the firm, McTech. They do in fact appear to be a very large construction firm but have zero info on their website about the principals or ownership. Being in construction myself for 25 yrs, this is very odd. https://www.mctech360.com/about-mctech not a single name or face of an individual who is a principal or owner. Edit: Nevermind, I found out who's behind it all: https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2008/09/your_tax_dollars_flow_to_a_fam.html

U.S. House OH-11
yeah. It was rigged by the DNC, manipulated with media & tech, to ensure the desired outcome

U.S. House OH-11
I'm joking. It was a ridiculous thing to point out. My money is on Nina Turner

U.S. House OH-11
so you're not upset that she voted to give herself a seven THOUSAND dollar pay raise???? ;-)

U.S. House OH-11
surprised there's not more chatter here. This race is getting a lot of national attention and endorsements https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/democrats-face-off-in-heated-battle-over-ohio-s-11th-district-primary/ar-AAMSIlw

Brecksville: Valor Acres Development
agreed. The presenter basically said they wanted to be a set back facility and not interact with the public. Looks like they got what they wanted.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
The project at 45 East Ninth will be a tough sell. It's such a large building the operating expenses are significant. And it really doesn't have much parking under it at all, which is large part of why it struggled to lease up as an office building... I wish them luck but it would have been better as a big user taking half the building then targeting smaller users for the rest...

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
Winking Lizard is def moving across street to AECOM. I heard it from the owner himself. It's the right move. AECOM building is nearly full, owner is aggressive, has a hotel attached.... Galleria is totally totally dead. They won't even keep the lights on by end of this year.

U.S. House OH-11
i have to admit it's been entertaining watching the negative ads so far with Shontel Brown & Nina Turner. I'm curious why Shontel opted to run against Nina Turner. Turner is experienced & has name recognition, is getting endorsements. Why is Shontel in this race, now? I think if it stays negative, it could do more harm than good to her long term political career

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I think Kevin Kelley still holds the edge in mayor's race. He's got name recognition, experience and relationships across public & private sector as well as local democratic party.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
Bibb has made good progress in getting name recognition but he hasn't really been challenged yet. He will be soon enough. I think Kucinich just plays spoiler to Kevin Kelley and a few others. Kelley remains the "safe" choice and will draw a lot of the older white voters and maybe others who seem to think Frank has done just fine as mayor....

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I've never heard of most of the people who are running but there's no way someone who's done jail time for multiple DUI convictions should be running for any public office, let alone mayor of a major city
-
Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
what exactly is zack reed's qualifications? Three DUI's? The guy served jail time. He should not be anywhere near the top of anyone's list. Please don't let Cleveland be the subject of national ridicule for that...

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
whoa! a huddle room!

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
anyone else hear more about this tower being built with extra space and having other tenants in the building besides SW?
-
Cleveland: CrossCountry Mortgage New HQ
hate to be a naysayer but these mortgage groups are boom-bust as office users get. The growth projections are all fine & exciting till the operations get offshored to India or the business is bought out by another bank/mortgage firm and half the employees are laid off. There's a reason why they didn't sign a lease in a class A building downtown and rather ended up in their own building.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
Kucinich changes everything. He could run away with it. Cleveland voters are so dumb they vote for any name they recognize

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I see the race funneling down to Bibb and Kelley. Kelley is the safe/status quo option. Bibb is the exciting new option. Both have a lot of support already.

Brecksville: Valor Acres Development
The tax revenue will definitely help the community. The school district is overjoyed at the boost they will see, even with the reduced tax rate. The other supporting amenities will be minor. From all the meetings I've seen, it's basically a hotel/conference center, a niche grocery store (rumored to be Mustard Seed) and a handful of upscale fast casual lunch/dinner spots. https://www.digestfeed.com/article/recksville-voters-to-decide-in-may-whether-to-rezone-land-for-sherwin-williams-r-d-center-in-valor-acres - "In October, Sherwin-Williams bought about 119 acres of land in Valor Acres from DiGeronimo Development LLC, the Valor Acres developer." "The Sherwin-Williams site will make up about 63 percent of the 188-acre Valor Acres. Mayor Jerry Hruby no other tenants have yet been signed." "DiGeronimo has purchased a separate 25-acre section of Valor Acres from the city for $1.2 million. The land is in the southeast corner of Valor Acres, fronting Miller at Brecksville Road. The city still owns the remaining 45 acres of Valor Acres."

That could be anything. It could be a cluster of workstations and a mockup huddle room.... what is BTC and WTC?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Steve Litt's article here asking for SW to release downtown designs was back in March, almost 3 months ago. https://www.cleveland.com/opinion/2021/03/sherwin-williams-should-release-downtown-hq-designs-as-early-as-it-can-for-full-public-input.html Still nothing, right? Getting to be a little hard pressed to get full site plan approval to begin ground breaking by this fall, certainly not likely to see crane on site by winter. Also what else are people hearing on the possibility of the office tower being multi-tenant? I just heard this the other day. If so, that will be the final nail in the coffin for Stark's Nucleus....

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
That's all good info Ken, and thanks for sharing. I guess I don't see how a smaller project is more feasible though. You still have the development costs, acquisition & demo costs... plus the amenities of the building like a fitness area, conference rooms, retail/restaurants, are typically subsidized by the rents of the office. A smaller office footprint makes all this harder/more expensive. But as you said earlier, we'll all wait & see.
