  1. I think bama will have to load the box to stop the run and blitz Cardale. Leaves our receivers in man coverage to make some big plays. I think OSU defense will totally stuff the Alabama run game and force some bad throws. I think our secondary is better than most any they've faced all year
  2. Rumors starting to surface now that Braxton Miller will in fact be transferring. I expect an announcement soon after the bowl games. The more of these bowl games I watch, the more I like OSU's chances to win. SEC teams have not played very well thus far, showing very little defense
  3. Oregon is a 9 point favorite over FSU. Bama is a 9 point favorite over OSU
  4. Team was unable to locate Gordon & Manziel. What a couple jackasses. Gordon is talented but not talented enough to compensate for his jackass behavior. Manziel is not even close to being talented enough
  5. I am pumped for the OSU game. I think the Buckeyes have a real shot to knock off Alabama but they will have to play a great game on both sides. In other news I think FSU gets dismantled by Oregon. What's the line on that game?
  6. That Alchemy Hour ("Cleveland Surfer") was the best damn beer.... Having said that, I'm never disappointed in Great Lakes Dortmunder. Good flavor, never gives me a hangover. Another local Cleveland brew I really enjoy is the Market Garden Pearl Street Wheat. It very closely resembles authentic German wheat beer flavor and taste, with a hint of citrusy aromatics. I love to drink this stuff but it tears me up the next day
  7. Has anyone attended the "Listening Tour" stops being done by City Cleveland Council, to hear resident concerns about police actions and the federal investigation? I saw a few facebook pics from a recent stop on the east side. Looked like there was maybe 20 people there.
  8. DSCDO giving even more work to Marous Bros. Looks like that $100k they gave DSCDO back in 2008 is still paying dividends
  9. They have been painting/blasting/repairing the garage floors
  10. some of the long passes, I think some of the long TD passes, were just heaved up by Jones. Smith just made incredible catches, beating out the defender and going up to get it

Articles like that drive me nuts. Not because of the content, but because of some lame attention grabbing headline that really doesn't backup the content of the article. "Waving goodbye to the 2 car household" is the headline, but the real numbers within only indicate the current amount of just over 50% will drop to just under 50%. No data either to indicate how much of this is due to choice or forced through declining incomes. Just some comments about apparent trends & such. yawn I think a more likely trend will be the emergence of REALLY cheap cars. Like just 4 wheels & a basic engine, little to no options. Not like so many of todays cars with pricetags upward of $40k with customizable wheels, paint, interiors, upgraded brakes, engine, suspension, stereos, etc. Something like the Kia Soul with a $15,000 price tag, but even cheaper. 60 months of payments on that thing is only about $200. That's cheap transportation right there
  12. Big Ten gets its rep as a weak conference in part due to terribly mismatched bowl games. A few years ago there was a very average Iowa team that played LSU and got crushed. They get these matchups because Big Ten teams have huge fan bases that will travel, buy tickets, and tune in to watch games. What is the fan base of a school like Wisconsin or MSU vs a school like LSU or Auburn. No comparison. But those mismatched bowl losses end up getting repeated as stats that quote a lousy Big Ten record vs SEC teams... Speaking of MSU, they beat Stanford last year in the Rose Bowl, which was a great game. Stanford was the conf champ and the PAC 12 was the highest ranked conference at the end of the season. Regardless, every year is a new opportunity. If OSU, Wisconsin and MSU could all win bowl games, that would go a long way in re-establishing the Big Ten as dominant conference
  13. Oh how the bitter tears of SheepBoy only makes this sweeter!!! Did you mean to quote someone else? What's SheepBoy in reference to? My comment was a pretty logical one: OSU should not have leapfrogged TCU primarily because they managed to score a lot of points in one game. They playoffs don’t make any sense, and like all bowl games they’re primarily focused on money, while maintaining just enough integrity to not be too obvious a joke. OSU had a better strength of schedule than TCU or Baylor. They beat MSU at East Lansing and totally dismantled a very good Wisconsin team. TCU beat up on a nobody the last week of the season I think the committee recognized that OSU is playing at a VERY high level right now and they might be the best team in the country and deserve a shot to prove it. I don't think anyone believes TCU is the best team in the country (outside of the TCU fanbase). That conference needs a title game ASAP
  14. OSU will have their hands full I think against Alabama. I think that's the toughest matchup. Oregon just has speed. I wish OSU could've been matched up with FSU in the first round. I think they will get shellacked by Oregon.
  15. who gets screwed, OSU, TCU or Baylor?
  16. If you guys get reforms without riots, consider it a good black eye (as far as black eyes go). This will be overshadowed by Ferguson and NYC. Hopefully this puts Cleveland ahead of the curve, as I don't believe this problem is confined to one, three, or just a handful of cities. Honestly, in consideration of all three recent cases (Ferguson, Staten Island, and Cleveland) I found the Cleveland case the most troubling. The kid wasn't threatening an officer or resisting arrest. I read the report and it's pretty shocking. I know Cleveland is a dangerous city but the repeat offenses of officers just firing off rounds almost without thinking is crazy. Not to mention straightup kicking people's asses after they are already restrained... I'm shocked the city has only paid out $10 million over the last ten years. Might be interesting to see what other cities have paid out over same time frame for police settlements
  17. The same "fluke" of geography or history that is allowing certain suburbs to thrive is probably the same fluke that allowed some inner ring suburbs to thrive 50 yrs ago. The all-or-nothing approach makes no sense and only prolongs the problem. If you look at these communities that are struggling financially, what are their biggest expenses? Schools & emergency services? Why not start there with some incentives for merging departments and sharing services to alleviate the financial strain while still providing steady service levels. The alternative is a big slash or big tax hike...
  18. can't believe Pellini was fired from Nebraska before Hoke was fired from Michigan...
  19. No essentially that's not what I'm arguing. I'm saying it's a case by case basis. Some inner ring suburbs may have stable incomes and tax bases and be financially sound. Others may not. It doesn't even necessarily apply to inner ring suburbs either. North Royalton is a great example of an outer ring suburb that is facing some issues. They have no highway access and therefore no significant industry for a tax base. They recently voted down another school levy and are going to have to make some heavy budget cuts. Brecksville/Broadview Heights already share a school system. Royalton is in limbo. Won't be long and residents will start voting with their feet which will accelerate the problem and the need to make major change. Same story in a dozen other communities, both inner & outer. It starts with shared services. Actual merger and redrawing the boundaries is the last step.
  20. I don't understand this argument. Why shouldnt a city be forced to merge it's schools or emergency services if it is facing major budget shortfalls. See the news about Brookpark. Why does a community like Linndale exist? Why doesn't Garfield Heights/Maple Heights/Bedford Heights merge? Same with Parma/Parma Heights, etc. These mergers aren't all bad, could add to the community amenities, increase services, lower tax base, attract more employers possibly with shared resources... On the same token, why should a community like Westlake or Strongsville or Beachwood be forced to merge with the region and lose it's identity if they have strong finances, good tax base, employment, schools, etc? Look at each case and decide accordingly is all I'm saying. Across the board decisions rarely make sense...
  21. Dude, he's in the NFL but he's not really a big guy. Like 6 foot, 200 lbs?
  22. Buckeyes held off a scrappy Indiana team today. Added a few late scores to make it look convincing but this was a very close game. But, a win is a win. Now it's Michigan Week. U of M lost today to Maryland. The loss probably sealed the fate of Brady Quinn's firing. Consider this stat: Michigan has lost 6+ games for the 5th time in 7 seasons post-Lloyd Carr. The Wolverines had 1 6-loss season in their previous 40 seasons prior to this stretch.
  23. I think the only "shocker" would be that all the teams ahead of us win out. I know there will be an SEC & Pac 10 championship but it's college football - there are always upsets.
  24. it's no different than all the bowl games when Notre Dame sucked and still got a big bowl selection. Or a mismatched Big Ten team vs an SEC team like Iowa vs LSU... To sell tickets and draw viewers... who thinks TCU fans will buy 50,000 tickets to a game?
  25. Is this actually still the case? Is the corporate/business side downplayed with the new selection committee? I thought they were meant to inject more impartiality and look at teams based on their true merits? Why would Tom Osborne or Condi care if a team travels well? Consider the draw of another Big Ten team like OSU vs SEC team matchup in round 1 of the playoff. Then consider the draw of a team like Baylor or TCU vs the SEC team...
