  1. I've been trying to figure this out also and my best guess is 50 units in BP since 2010 (could be higher since they did so many phases). There's just over 100 units sold & occupied now in BP, including townhomes & the single family free-standing homes. Add in the newest building being built beside Reddstone is another 7 or 8 units. Probably about 150+ residents
  2. Whoa, wait! That "remainder of the property" is pretty big. Any idea of what Vintage is proposing? Wow, it is big. This is the area that Vintage would develop. I've added an extended Father Frascati Drive to the map. That's a great map but not all that area is going to be able to be developed. Keep in mind how much 73rd is going to drop down for this road to go under the tracks. It will be a steep retaining wall on the west side I believe and more of a tapered slope on the east side of the trench. At least that's how it was drawn in the last rendering I saw. That parcel is going to be hard to develop though. Vintage cannot build on top of the relocated sewer trench which now bisects that parcel and they need car access which can only come in from the new street, extension of Frascati...
  3. Be careful drawing any conclusions about Zone from that meeting. I lived in his ward for 6 yrs & majority of his ward is still a dive. This project went forward with a lot of signatures from folks who probably don't know who Zone is.
  4. No parking on 73rd will be a bummer for many residents on that street. most of them don't have much of a driveway and the garage is filled with junk so the only option is to park on the street
  5. It was next to nothing over on 67th & 69th. I was at a party on 67th and there was one little blast that went off after the city display but that was pretty much it. 76th on the other hand looked like Baghdad under siege...
  6. Shoreway project for intersection of 73rd is flying along. Good amount of dirt fills brought up between the RR tracks & the Shoreway where the new east bound off ramp to 73rd will be. New temporary tracks are being laid out with the rail road ties. No steel rails set yet. Sewer relocation portion of the job is complete. I think some old warehouse buildings were demo'd from 73rd & Caruso as well.
  7. Drills down to take samples of the dirt below. Usually an indicator that someone is looking for a geotechnical analysis of the site in order to program for a building. They did all that years ago back when Marous had plans to develop their building on that site. They had the construction plans done and were preselling condo's in 2004 when the cost of steel skyrocketed and the deal tanked. THey had photos of all the foundations exposed & such. pretty radical.
  8. on a semi related note, the local news reported a major illegal fireworks bust on the near west side, w46th I think http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/local/cuyahoga-county/2014/07/02/cleveland-illegal-fireworks-bust/12113847/
  9. Is there a lot of new construction & rehabbing? Where? On 67th & 69th, I'm only aware of a single new home (right across from Councilman Zone) and nothing really in terms of renovations.
  10. I don't know what to make of it. I enjoyed watching the fireworks displays over there the last several years. They literally put the City's display to shame in size & duration. You're right though, last year's was very tame. Not sure if someone got hurt or property was damaged or the city leaders just decided it was too out of control or what. It was pretty cool though
  11. The current CVS store at 9th & Euclid is crap and the space doesnt allow expansion. I think a CVS/Walgreens location on Public Square makes perfect sense given all the daytime traffic from office workers and the growing number of downtown residents in that area. The Heinens planned at E. 9th will be cool for sure, but I would guess a Public Square pharmacy/mini grocery location will do very well. I don't have the data to back that up, but the people that do are looking in May Co on Euclid...
  12. I'm seeing a ton of chatter on facebook from residents of the "Historic west side little Italy" that is W 67th & 69th. This area goes berserk with fireworks every year but apparently Councilman Zone and the police have issued warnings/requests to residents to tone it down this year. Seems odd considering the city used to park a dedicated firetruck down there for their displays - they shut down the street, built a platform to launch fireworks from, etc. Now the city is telling them to cut it out? Everyone seems to be pointing fingers at a couple squeaky wheel residents who don't like the displays and but the long time residents say it's a longstanding tradition and they'll gladly pay a fine before they give up that tradition. Should be interesting to see how this shakes out considering Zone's house is right on 69th.
  13. I learned 3 things from that article. 1. Don't be gay. 2. Don't be straight going to gay bars. 3. And don't take public transportation. That sounds about right for the media. Short on facts. Long on irrelevant details aimed to scare people. This bar has had quite a few problems like this in the past. I think it stems more from being in a shitty neighborhood than being a gay bar. The owner of the place needs to step up their own security with some private patrols or bouncers to escort patrons to & from their car or whatever
  14. ^well there you have it. Market studies and demographics be damned, looks like there is no need for added retail pharmacy/mini grocer space...
  15. The most likely option is a CVS/Walgreens/Rite Aid. Think big store with ample selection of groceries. All the apartment units coming online above this, plus the announced conversion of the Standard Building by Weston... there's a good demand for this. The tiny CVS over by E9th is inadequate.

Last year on 4th of July, Battery Park was jammed full without a single spot to be found by 6pm. Everyone was just circling, looking. I expect it to be even worse with all the tunnel construction this year
  17. Big picture, that's great news. As stated upthread, the May Co building is the last big piece of downtown renovation yet to be done. The Geis portion of the story boggles my mind. A few short years ago, that operation was suburban design-build of low rise manufacting/light industrial buildings. Now they are tackling dense urban multi-use historic rehabs...
  18. Honestly, Zach Reed should be disciplined for a ridiculous comment like that over social media.... Not only did he get the facts wrong but saying "welcome to summer..." just dismisses the seriousness of the problem. As stated, his ward is one of the worst. Sheesh. I already hated the guy for all his DUI arrests...
  19. I"m hearing rumors the next office building might break ground this year yet. Still some pre leasing work to be done
  20. I hear this story again and again and again in the city: new projects selling out or close to selling out before the project is even complete. With news like that, you'd think even more construction projects would be going on. We have some good ones, but I'd think that kind of demand would get the attention of some out of town developers. It's a project-by-project basis. In many aspects, Cleveland is still a very hard town to do development deals. We have high labor rates for construction and relatively low rents. And tons of legacy costs in terms of abatement etc
  21. Of course "ever", but if Cleveland has approximately 25-30 homicides so far this year, how many have arrests been made with suspects charged? Not asking the question of you, more just hypothetical....
  22. On another note, 2 more people shot dead on the east side. Do the police ever make arrests or get convictions on these shootings? http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/06/2_men_found_shot_dead_inside_c.html#incart_m-rpt-1

That's so awesome. So overdue in making Edgewater a real hub of activity in the city. So pleased with the Metroparks progress and what they've done at Edgewater already in terms of cleaning, updating, policing & programming, etc
  24. What about the Atlanta Braves? Is that name offensive?
  25. It's a political victory for those who oppose the team logos. What that victory actually includes is up for debate.
