  1. This may cause them to hold out even more strongly. Until they get their first tax bill with the higher property value figured into it. Looks like the owners of the Westinghouse building have decided it's time to sell. No price listed yet but it's on the market now according to this link http://www.loopnet.com/xNet/MainSite/Listing/Profile/Profile.aspx?LID=18526970&AID=Dzk6u3u3Q&FromLocation=&NoBrandingView=&fname=Paul&lname=Bossman&18526970=GkF4zYB6g&PgCxtCurFLKey=&ProfileFromLocation=professionalprofile&PgCxtGuid=ba98beed-9177-4e67-a488-900024863ed4&PgCxtFLKey=&PgCxtCurFLKey=&PgCxtDir=Down
  2. Although it's not within the city's purview -- it's the FAA keeping Burke open. Burke keeps recreational flyers and slower planes out of Hopkins, as well as providing for overflow/emergency. still have capacity at the county airport for recreational flyers & slower planes
  3. interesting article blaming City leaders for keeping Burke Lakefront open even as number of flights at Hopkins dropped by 50%. Standard line for keeping Burke open has always been they needed it to keep the capacity open at Hopkins. Guess that's not true anymore. http://beltmag.com/clevelandairporttroubles/
  4. I'll go on a limb & say that anything that hasn't been snapped up has major legacy costs requiring serious lead/asbestos/soil contamination issues, not to mention demolition, site prep costs, etc. You can't compare these types of sites to something that is ready to build on....
  5. Not sure what you're basing this on other than general negativity toward the project, but I couldn't disagree more. What other roadway exists like this, that creates a near direct shot between 480/77 access and the University Circle area? Any developable land will be quickly snapped up. It's a great location for any business that interacts with the UC area and requires highway access. Currently, there's nothing else like it anywhere
  6. Interesting numbers on the local news tonight about the "cost" to the airlines for each passenger. At CLE it's $13.xx per passenger. Same for Pittsburgh. At Detroit Metro, it's $9. At Minneapolis I think it was $6. At Akron/Canton, it was $3. http://www.19actionnews.com/category/240218/video-landing-page?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=9798537
  7. That game was brutal. Obviously Seattle defense was stifling, but Denver only had 1 or 2 good drives the entire game. I can't recall such a one-sided game in recent super bowl history...
  8. Weather doesn't look to be a factor in the game, kickoff temp should be low 40's, maybe light rain. Emerging storyline seems to be the effect that Percy Harvin's return will have for the Seahawks & their big play ability.

I've been snapping cell phone pics of Lake Erie from downtown vantage points in various stages of freeze/thaw for the last couple weeks. I find it fascinating.
  10. Updated photo today of the latest building going up on Battery Park. Most expensive units built so far, north of $160/sf. I think 6 of 8 units are sold. Supposed to be done in April. Not much progress in January due to the extreme cold
  11. Actually that building was done mostly by Ross Farro in partnership with Wolstein.
  12. regarding the relative disappointment on the height of the next office building, a rule of thumb exists in office buildings that 4 spaces be provided for every 1,000 sq ft of office space. Of course there are exceptions to that rule but it's pretty standard. If the parking doesn't really exist (it doesn't) then the height of the building is limited.
  13. Whew! Good thing you clarified that
  14. Im interested in the project moving forward. Can't anticipate much opposition except for some who will be impacted by much higher traffic counts on Herman & Tillman going to & from downtown
  15. Serious question - has he "cashed in" on any endorsement deals yet? I would hold on before we call him a brilliant marketing strategist. If he gets burned for a big play next week, which is very possible, he'll look like like a guy who talked trash & couldn't back it up. If he has another shut-out performance & gets a Super Bowl ring, then he'll be ready for some real endorsement deals.
  16. Shaping up for a great game. First cold weather venue for an outdoor Superbowl, held in NY nonetheless, featuring the #1 offense vs the #1 defense. Broncos currently a 2.5 pt favorite. Barring a snowstorm I'm betting with the Broncos to cover.
  17. The office building size & height is driven by market demand, typical floor plates that are in demand, and the overall amount of square footage. 6 stories is optimal for an office complex this size, maximizes efficiency, minimizes construction costs. Going higher than 6 floors substantially raises the costs of steel, elevators, HVAC systems, etc
  18. OK, Ray Lewis played in the NFL for 15 years and was a Pro Bowl for 13 of those years and won 2 Super Bowls. Richard Sherman has quite a ways to go before he reaches that level of notoriety. Besides that, Lewis' major endorsements are Under Armor, Old Spice & EA Sports video games. Small potatoes compared to guys like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees & Aaron Rodgers....
  19. He ruined his endorsement potential last night. Taunting Cravtree on the field, making the choke sign, then bashing his opponent in the post game interview. No class. Crabtree is a better WR than anyone the Seahawks have...
  20. after starting down at 69th, the sewer relocation phase of this project is now across 73rd, heading toward 74th before it connects back behind the BP volleyball courts. Seems like this phase of the project must be moving faster than expected. Will be interested to see how the rest of the work progresses
  21. Hard to believe he's a Stanford man...
  22. it's not iffy. They are actively marketing it & looking for tenants. I'd say they will announce something by summer. The site is a flurry of activity right now along the waterfront. At least half a dozen dozers & excavators working, trucks laying out stone, hauling out material....
  23. something with the organization is scaring these coaches away. The Browns are LOADED with draft picks next year, have plenty of salary cap room & have a really solid base of talent on both sides of the ball right now. The only big detractor I see is the void at QB. I can't believe that is so much of a detractor to keep all these good candidates from pulling back...
  24. I think this whole project is awesome. Can't wait for the national media articles soon to follow after it's lit...
