I am having a hard time finding a company that services Chagrin Falls for trash removal. Any suggestions?

I have no idea. I am just saying in general I see more people renting. We aren't people that would typically rent 6 years ago but given issues in the last few years it is stupid to buy a second home when you already have one. I really am not trying to offend anyone.

I mean diverse as in professionals, young people, old people, etc.

Thanks for all the help! I think we are going to head to the Westside and look out there. I think a lot more diverse people are renting nowadays. We have toyed with the idea of buying a second home, but we are ultra conservative about money and don't want to do anything because we are desperate. Plus, who knows where we will end up given the economy. In a perfect world we would have sold our house and we would buy on the eastside.

I think we are trying to find similar homeowners like us who have a house they aren't going to sell because of the market, but still want to pay the mortgage and live somewhere nice and clean. We lived in a house that was built in the late 80s in Alpharetta and I have rented plenty of early 1900 houses that are beautifully refurbished. I do think a lot of houses on the eastside are rented for a profit to college students who aren't yet understanding of pride of their home.

Thanks but we have seen about 30 houses there and those are the dirty ones. It is really sad that people don't want to keep up their house, but most of those properties are college housing properties. I think our big thing is the two dogs because the nicer houses don't allow pets. Shouold we go as far as Mentor, Hudson, Medina or Lakewood/Bay Village?

I have posted on here many times and I appreciate everyone's responses. I moved here about 9 months ago and live in Beachwood in Easthaven Apartments. For the last 6 months we have been looking non-stop for places to live. Please help us!!!!! Here is us: Mid 30s and married no kids 2 dogs I work downtown, husband works in Parma Thinking about attending grad school in the Winter (no idea where) We really want a safe area that I can run by myself. We would like something that will take 2 dogs because it is VERY hard to find properties that take 2 dogs that aren't "college-like" and dirty. We would like somewhere we could meet people since after 9 months it has been hard with our jobs and the fact we don't go out to bars or clubs. We were just about to live in South Euclid when the person renting the house got an offer on it. Good for him but not for us. We are looking at a house in Wickliffe this weekend. We will pay up to $1600 and will consider paying more depending on what is offered. Thanks Cleveland!

Thanks for all your responses. We have 2 dogs so that knocks a lot of properties out quickly! They are really clean and well behaved, but nobody wants dogs. We wanted to find something nice that has updates and a fenced in backyard. Cleveland is really a lot safer than Atlanta. You have bad areas, but where you can't find anything near the city that is safe in Atlanta. The Cleveland eastside is 10 miles away and most parts are fine! I guess there is crime everywhere really if you look. We were shocked at how much we found when we searched our old house back home which is in a very safe area in the Atlanta suburbs - Alpharetta. I just want to be able to go run and not worry.

We don't want to pay $1800 but we are more willing. I guess I am just used to a lot cheaper houses.

Yes, I have been researching and found out that they don't report the crime in those areas. I am sure it has something to do with property values, etc. Thanks for the information. I am getting a huge wakeup call with cost of living here! We would pay as much as $1800 for a rental, but I am finding that even at that cost you find few decent ones.

We are renting, not buying since we still have a house in Atlanta. When you look at crimereports.com it is SCARY how bad it is over in Shaker especially around Van Aken. We looked up reports from 6 months back. When we look at rentals in Shaker they look horrible. Very old and paint slapped up and no air conditioning. We don't have children so we don't care about schools. We would love to live in Highland Heights, but renting there is ridiculous in terms of prices. So, basically there are not a lot of rentals out there:( This rental we are looking up is close to Anderson (I think that is the name) near a war memorial. Adrian elementry school is around the corner. What do you think of that area?

I am close to moving to a house over in South Euclid and want to know thoughts on the neighborhood. I have been here 8 months and think most anything is fine on the eastside. I look at crimreports.com and it is nice to see the low crime in the eastside. We looked at some houses in the Fernway area in Shaker Heights, but know someone who was mugged a few months ago in the backyard at gunpoint and the crime is only 0.3 miles away. In South Euclid it looks like it is nearly 6 miles away. So, thoughts on the area? Crime, entertainment, neighbors, etc. Thanks:)

I think a lot of people tan up here though. I was at the store yesterday and I was shocked at how dark people are already.
  14. codomirok replied to a post in a topic in City Life
Really? I might just do that. Ha ha..darkside:) That is so funny. Reminds me of the OTP (outside the perimeter) and ITP (inside the perimeter) in Atlanta. Nothing bad about either just personal preference. I go to the Westside at least 2 times a week after my shots;)

Yes, I actually called the NY Salon and the guy was so funny he said sorry but this is Ohio and I am the cheapest in the city. I hate it that I can't get it every other week like I did in Atlanta. I do overspend for the brows. Mine cost $15 and I used to pay $8. I just don't understand why the cost of living is so much more here!
  16. codomirok replied to a post in a topic in City Life
Ha! Just called it is $30 but commend your wife for finding the cheapest place in the city! I think I might just open a salon and charge Atlanta prices. I swear I would be busy everyday!
  17. Okay so in Atlanta salon services are CHEAP! There is no difference between an $18 spa pedicure and $30. In fact, you can't find one that expensive. So, I can't seem to find a salon that is under $30. Even the hole in the wall places. Does anyone know of a place I can go where is is around $20????
  18. I have looked at craigslist, plugged in and Howard Hanna for rental houses. Anyone know of any more good sites to look? There just doesn't seem to be a lot out there. Thanks!

Thanks! When I say traditional I mean no guitars, lights, rock bands and falling on the ground. They have a lot of those in the South. Thanks for all the advice!
  20. My husband and I are new here and would like to join a church on the Eastside. We are Methodist, but I would also consider going to a Presbyterian Church. We like traditional churches, but we are looking for some sort of couples group to meet people. Does anyone have any ideas?
  21. We have an entire house to move up here and only a two bedroom apartment now, so we need a storage place. I did a soft search and called 2 numbers that are no longer in business and 2 that didn't answer. Anyone recommend a reliable and reasonably priced place? I HATE public storage because I bought insurance last year and had to put my entire place in it and had it broken into. Filed a police report, etc with a picture of the broken clasp and proof from the police that this has happened often and they said there was no forced entry and I was out of $2500. So, now public storage:) Thanks in advance!!!!
  22. codomirok replied to a post in a topic in City Life
Why is that? It is funny how different it is down South. They have legacy village like places everywhere!
  23. codomirok replied to a post in a topic in City Life
Thanks for the suggestions! Going to see Ladies and Gentlemen at Legacy Village on Sunday! It seems like my Atlanta kind of place:)

I am new to the area and want a good salon that is reasonably priced but does a GREAT job! I looked on kudzu cleveland, but it doesn't seem many people use that site. There were no reviews. Hope this is an appropriate topic for this board. Not very intelligent or thought provoking;)
  25. I am from GA where schools are rated VERY poor!
