Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Where are you getting your stats? Unfortunately, the city doesn't publicly release the stats beyond what's released on these two websites, crimereports.com and clevelandgis.org - so there's no easy way to find out how many of X crime were unless you were to count each and every dot on the following maps :( I would LOVE them to just give a raw text dump of all of the crimes, locations, time, so people can do more in-depth analysis than the following... [/end pet peeve). Both sources claim to have data from the past 7 days but none of the incidents listed are more recent than Dec. 7th on CG and CR, dec. 8th . For , . So, in this case, we're only working with roughly 4-5 days of data which is an extremely small sample size... but: For Detroit shoreway: [crime reports] [clevelandgis] Hough [clevelandgis]: Hough [crimereports] As a side note, I'm not that surprised that there was not much crime in Hough as I had expected, due to the simple fact that the population there has decreased considerably over the past couple decades.

Not a surprise, but the Paris Theatre, 3151 W. 25th Ave, was demolished on Monday.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
http://www.csuohio.edu/news/releases/2011/11/14951.html All 9 buildings are scheduled to be 'built' (physically constructed and open for the public) at the same time. At the meeting, I remembered the architect, in response to a question by Tony Coyne or David Bowens, stating that the units would open all at the same time but the press release above says there's 2 phases. I well could be wrong then.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
Maybe it's confirmation bias, but I have spotted New York plates practically every day in the past 6 months.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Heheh - who said that? That was council woman Lillian Kuri The design changes were minimal. I believe they added some vertical accents to the Town homes. As far as burying the electric lines are concerned, they said that they had budgeted that cost at around $2 million, but worked out some 'creative' ways to bring that down to less than $1 million. Haha, Hubs, I was there too, you were able to post this before I had a chance to ! No way, another UOer in the same room ! =) A couple other quick points in case you don't want to read the entire summary: - 318 apartments, 9,000 sq. ft retail - to be built all at once, [opening late2012?] - e. 23rd between payne and chester will be permanently closed. - The Doan building is currently vacant. Best quote from friday's meeting "Cleveland doesn't have a good track record with phase 2 in general." Lillian Kuri (again!)(works for the Cleveland Foundation)

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
*paging ohio city inc* There's riverside [chma] Complexes: There's one on the corner of 30th and bridge [NW]. The one above family dollar on 25th and carroll, detroit and 28th [north side]. There also may be a handful above the storefronts on Lorain, although not sure if they are zoned for residential and although they cater to renters, the ones of the storefronts may not have the same amenities [recent renovation, secure parking] that complexes have.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
I'm guessing that it's the currently inoperable bridge [next to the fire station on corner of carter and scranton] that would connect stones levee and scranton/carter. West 3rd, according to KJP.

The YouTube Thread
I was watching this clip of footage from WEWS (compiled in 1997). Any idea of who Dorothy Fuldheim is talking to in this clip and cancels the interview? Dororthy Fuldheim abruptly ends an interview with Jerry Rubin. [the relevant part is supposed to start at 4:45 but the embedder on UO is breaking the link for me :/

Unable to access search daemon
Good morning :D I am unable to use the search function. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?action=search2 After inputting the desired search term, A message returns stating " An Error Has Occurred! Unable to access the search daemon" I have also tried using the advanced search http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?action=search;advanced;search=tremont;search=tremont and receive the same error message. I've used the search in the past and this is the first time that I've had trouble with it (at least since the forum software upgrade in early 2011). Here's my user agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1

Cleveland Neighborhood Map
After a lot of behind the scenes work on it [nearly every day for the past month or 2], I made an update to it last week, adding brooklyn centre and Lake Erie. Thanks for the feedback and insight, MTS. To help me understand, would you classify this area - http://i.imgur.com/Doz5a.png - as 'the square' or 'Shaker Square' ? Would you extend further south to buckeye ? Any other thoughts ? thanks, will.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Well this would be quite the news. Do you know who was speaking/what program they were speaking on? It was on at 90.3 at 9 with Mike McIntyre. It was said by Marcus Glover, the SVP and GM of the Horseshoe Casino [see http://www.horseshoe.com/info/cleveland/assets/Glover_GM-release-FINAL.pdf for his bio]. He said that the state had denied the historical tax credits and as a result, the bridge won't be built for 'at least a couple years' after the casino opens, if at all.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I was in Ohio City last night and there was a heightened presence of RTA's police. Around 7:00pm, there were 3 or 4 of them and a k9 outside the w.25th station and another 2 cars at the northwest corner of lorain and w. 25th, next to the park and the bus stop there. Any particular reason(s) for the increased presence ?!

Cleveland: The Houses of Glenville
From what I remember visiting there a couple weeks ago, these homes are mostly in two specific locations: Most of the homes are clustered within 2 areas of Glenville: 1 being an area roughly bounded to the North by Parkgate, the west by East blvd, the east, e99th, and east blvd to the south (near tanner ave) http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=41.52667&lon=-81.62231&zoom=17&layers=M the other area would be http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=41.5174198150635&lon=-81.6110801696777&zoom=16 roughly, Lee to the north, magnolia to the south, 111th to the east, 105th to the west.

Cleveland: a morning in Glenville [Part 2]
Part 1: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,26308.0.html a couple nicer houses amid some dilapidated ones, corner of pasedena and parkwood. The bus of the Lake Erie Sharks, a local grade-school football team - https://www.facebook.com/people/Lake-Erie-Sharks/100001524889501 RIP Bruce (couldn't find any info on him on through a quick google search) (Hathaway ave) also on hathaway tons of shadows unfortunately Superior and 108. Left them hanging [thornwood] thornwood [housing stock not that bad except the 2 houses above, this street reminded me a lot of old brooklyn quick pit stop in east cleveland, on forbes drive, at pattison park, new steps are being installed. now back to our featured presentation in cleveland... :-P e. 123rd and wade park As I progressed west on Ashbury Ave, Gentrification is beginning (spillover from CWRU?) (is this the magnolia-wade park historic district ?) West of E.118th, the biggest residential gentrification that I'm currently seeing in cleveland; numerous homes in this area (south of Orville), were being renovated... the busiest part was the south side of Ashbury, at least 4-5 rehabs were going on as I passed ! :-o These houses were great candidates, they're quite large, and similar to frat houses. A before... (also right next to a recently renovated apt. building - named university view - on the corner of 115th and ashbury) recent one on the left: a good candidate on Lee road (not that lee) housing stock's quality increased on e. 106, 107, 108.. on including these: shame this didn't turn out well . that concludes the tour =) thanks for looking

Cleveland: a morning in Glenville and Hough [Part 1]
It is on South Blvd. Thanks for the Feedback about the picture quality. I noticed that the poorer pictures which had silhouettes [97th and thorn; this has good potential] were all shot towards the east [my back facing the west] during the sunrise (between 7-9am). The photos that were shot facing west (with the sun to my back) [(south blvd and e 98, stucco] came out much better. I'll try to edit them and see if I can make an improvement (none of the above photos had any processing on them and were shot using the camera on a droid phone).

I am curious about where this park is since I had spent a fair amount of time looking for it. I can't find a park near the address you posted. try http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2769+E+90th+St,+Cleveland,+OH+44104&aq=&sll=41.483662,-81.624861&sspn=0.001873,0.004823&vpsrc=6&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2769+E+90th+St,+Cleveland,+Ohio+44104&ll=41.483839,-81.624266&spn=0.001853,0.004823&t=h&z=18 or insert into google maps: 2769 E 90th St, Cleveland, OH 44104

Cleveland: a morning in Glenville and Hough [Part 1]
As a part of the http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,25700.msg553078.html - Cleveland neighborhood map (update coming out this week!), I've been visiting different parts of the city to verify streets exist and to learn about the neighborhoods. :) Here's photos from my journey last week throughout the East side, primarily in Hough and Glenville. (and here's the route that I had taken): http://utrack.crempa.net/report/saved_report.php?ident=f9a2aa43dbcb0fbe80e53c9c120b7373&lang=en one of the first photos I had taken that morning was one my most memorable ones that I've seen this summer. corner of 90th and Ann ct: let's continue north to where my mom and many other Polish families grew up: the playground at the new sowinski School on Kosciuszko Ave (cleveland pub. elementary school): st. casimir's church is just stone's throw away from here. . New Jerusalem Baptist Church, future site of (on kosciuskzo ave, west of sowinski school and st. casimir's): now, east of MLK and east blvds, a few blocks with some of the nicest houses in the city of Cleveland ! (kudos to other UO's who have promoted this area in earlier topics) corner of parkhill and thorn: 97th and thorn (look at those roofs!): This alley doesn't exist anymore :/ <img src="http://i.imgur.com/wT3KBl.jpg" alt="" title="Hosted by imgur.com" /> As you go north of pierpont, the housing stock drops drastically. :( <img src="http://i.imgur.com/kHnOvl.jpg" alt="" title="Hosted by imgur.com" /> Looking to buy a house ? stucco, ( e 97 yes, this is in Cleveland! (south blvd and e 98) this has good potential: (e98) I love these houses...it's E.99th ! <img src="http://i.imgur.com/2D9h6l.jpg" alt="" title="Hosted by imgur.com" /> Alas, just 5 houses from east 99th: on olivet :( As you go east of 99th, the housing stock changes, with more doubles/duplexes (2 family homes) [these duplexes were mainly between 99th and 105), with few board ups and empty lots, especially after 105th. There's a few exceptions, including this one on drexel. A few of the houses in this neighborhood, including this one, have bars on its 1st floor windows. <img src="http://i.imgur.com/uocuBl.jpg" alt="" title="Hosted by imgur.com" /> I Hope to post part 2 [going south to wade park ave] in the next few days.
