I'm sorry things aren't exactly the same as they were when you were growing up. To get rid of The Braves because you hate the city and the Nationals because you hate their jerseys is a preposterous measure of contraction. The market supports all the teams you mention, with the possible exception of the florida teams. The economics of contraction would matter more than your nostalgia.

you're just knocking off teams because you don't like them? Your point is partially negated by the fact that Midwest teams represent three of the bottom five teams in the MLB in attendance. Cleveland is last by a lot. They should do away with inter-league play and take away the wildcard game. There shouldn't be a reduction of teams. The regular season is important because baseball is a sport where you need to play well to make it to the postseason (unlike basketball, hockey). They also need to make it so the season doesn't go into November; whether it be by less games, more double headers, or fewer days off. Also, for years, I've felt that they need to determine the same rules for both leagues. I don't care whether both go with the DH or if the pitcher hits, but they need to live within the same realm of each other.

His greatness at shortstop is a little bit exaggerated. He wasn't even the best shortstop on his team.
  4. looks a lot better with the lights on it.

Do you take the same stance when a team trades a player or doesn't reup his contract? Why wasn't the team loyal to him?

IF they think the can get lebron, it wouldn't be a good idea to draft a SF.

i dont think this has to do with johnny football. Its more to do with the fact that the cavs have had so many early picks and still suck.

I love that the cavs won the first pick again. That being said, I completely understand Bill Simmons' position
  10. maybe the vandals took it down en route to the chandelier
  11. show of hands, who here is afraid to carry cash in ohio city? I'll wait...
  12. least surprising cut, ever
  13. ah
  14. how many games does the loss of gordon cost the browns? I find it hard to tell because he is great, but he is also only one player in 22. Some of his numbers will be absorbed by the rest of the group, obviously not all, though.
  15. all the cars are the same age? why didn't they stagger the fleet so only like a quarter of the cars would become obsolete at a time?
  16. he was popped five times in four years and, as much as you may roll your eyes at it, weed IS illegal. He is a recidivist at best and an addict at worst. The arguments that the penalty is too strong or that the league shouldn't be testing for street drugs may be valid, but he has too long of a track-record to justify away each instance. I do think the punishment for marajuna is too harsh and want him to play, too, but he entered into the league knowing the deal and he has failed, multiple times.
  17. The problem is that the NFL drug screening date is known well in advance. It becomes random only after you fail a test. The only people who get busted are usually the people who have dependency issues with substances. This is what I worry about with Gordon. It may be unfair because I obviously don't know what his day-to-day activities are, but most people stay sober when they apply for a job that screens for drugs because they know that they'll be tested. When your drug use impedes your ability to succeed and affects you job/relationships, it has become a problem. I don't say this judginly; I just hope that he doesn't have any unresolved issues and doesn't end up like Bess because the league is only concerned about whether or not he can play.
  18. they sold a bunch of other properties when they sold breuer tower. I think they did consolidate as much as they reasonably could.
  19. The type of progress that the scene depicts is the right way to go. So many of our political stalemates occur because both causes try to take nonnegociable stances. Ultimatums usually end badly, especially when we are talking about a century-old public-private partnership.
  20. ^^i agree

Its a little disingenuous to act like sports teams are the only businesses to subsidized by the government. Hilton is getting convention hotel built for them, geis receives incentive to develop 'the 9', individuals receive tax abatement for building a house in hough. These subsidies are okay because it makes the area stronger. I don't think e4th would have been as successful if the county didn't build gateway and lower Euclid would't be as strong without e4th. the warehouse district brings in tons of money from the browns.
  22. I feel like the numbers are as phony as DCA's population numbers. but, if it helped RTA justify service expansion or gain more funding, I'd be cool with it.
  23. Avenue district condos turning into rental units?
  24. If they include the art museum expansion, any clinic expansion, or e 4th in the numbers, then we do know.
  25. This is the first time the casino wasn't gung-ho about expansion. They've finally admitted that the delay isn't about engineering, but is, instead, about the market. Going from, 'we wouldn't spend $80 million for nothing' to 'it is still a feasible project' is discouraging.
