He'll lose more than cents when the Cavs dare him to walk and refuse to sign and trade him. He'll re-sign, everybody does.- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
you lose way too much money if you don't re-up your rookie contract. I would expect lebron to leave miami after next year, leaving Wade's carcass to rot in the Florida sun.- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
more like a chicken and egg situation- Dan Gilbert and Cleveland
I feel, and this is just from my perspective, that there are noticeably more people using downtown for entertainment than I remember. There actually are some restaurants going in down there, though it is hard to tell if this is casino spinoff or e4th spinoff or just a stronger downtown in general. but Red, chipotle, gumbo place, soulfood place, other stuff that I probably am missing are due in the area soon. I do think, however, that there should be more transparency with the plans for phase II. It isn't just a business; it is a business which was voted on by the people and heavily regulated by the state government. There should be a level of public discourse that wouldn't necessarily exist with a normal company.- Dan Gilbert and Cleveland
Dude bought GreekTown Dan Gilbert-owned company to acquire controlling interest in Greektown Casino by: J.C. Reindl http://www.freep.com/article/20130116/NEWS01/130116070/Dan-Gilbert-Greektown-casino-detroit?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE A Dan Gilbert-owned company announced today its pending deal to buy controlling interest in the corporation that owns the Greektown Casino and hotel in downtown Detroit. The investment by Rock Gaming, still subject to approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board, would expand the billionaire businessman’s fast-growing gambling empire to Michigan. Greektown Casino is owned by a consortium of investors known as Greektown Superholdings. Gilbert, the founder of Quicken Loans and majority owner of the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team, already owns three gambling sites in Ohio through Rock Gaming in addition to a horseracing track in Kentucky. The venture plans to open Baltimore’s first casino in 2014. Gilbert has purchased 15 buildings to date in downtown Detroit to further his visions for “Detroit 2.0” – a lively live-work-play district based around entrepreneurial companies in the digital economy. “Our plans are in the early phases, however, we envision significant investment in the Greektown Casino-Hotel as well as the enhancement and growth of the existing entertainment district,” Gilbert said in a statement. “We see this unique area extending to Campus Martius and along Woodward Avenue building on the positive momentum already occurring in the heart of downtown Detroit.” For Gilbert, the Greektown opportunity is “the perfect intersection of our focus on investment in downtown and our gaming business,” said Jennifer Kulczycki, a Rock Gaming spokeswoman- 2014 Gubernatorial Election

I felt that STO had some major growth potential as being THE station for cleveland sports, but 400 million is a lot of chedda- Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
The thing about the county moving into the huntington building is they will never own the property. In twenty five years, the county will have a piece of property that they will control, if geis plan is used. maybe even use as a chip to move elsewhere. That may be worth paying more in rent.- Portage County: Development and News

When deciding who to blame, my first question is: had the building actually decayed beyond reasonable repair? If it had, then the recent politics with gilbert don't really matter. The demo guy said it was unstable and about to fall, the gateway guy said he couldn't find anyone to occupy the space. Granted these people are coming from places where you would expect these answers, but I don't disregard them completely. I think the root of the issue is these slum lords who allow the buildings to get this way. There needs to be more pressure on these types of property owners.- Contests!

i think their theory is that this is more of a cosmic inevitability, rather than being able predict actual events (such as the Conquistadors). I have also heard that they may have felt this date to be uplifting, rather than grim. There have been plenty of people who have predicted the world would end throughout history. I doubt anybody actually believes it. its just something to make smalltalk about.- 12/21/2012

looks like the superstars also like to biking to work. Bike rides keep LeBron James in peak physical condition By Shandel Richardson-Sun Sentinel MIAMI — LeBron James at some point lost count. Actually, he never started keeping track. At some point this season, he occasionally began riding his bicycle to practice instead of driving. Then it turned into riding to morning shootarounds. And then games. Suddenly, James was spending more time on the bike than driving around in expensive cars. The added conditioning is why he seems to have no problem logging 42 minutes in the most routine of games. That was James’ stat line in the Heat’s 103-92 comeback victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday at AmericanAirlines Arena. This wasn’t a national television game, or against a contender. This was James showing his durability in a 22-point, 11-assist, seven-rebound performance in a game with no bearing on the remainder of the season. “I felt great,” James said. “I didn’t get tired. I don’t think I got tired (Tuesday) night. I felt great. I could have played again if we had to. Yeah, I’ve been biking a little more than usual. It’s fun. It’s also conditioning, it’s cardio.” James introduced his passion for riding when he was spotted on his bike on the way to the Heat’s game against the Chicago Bulls last January. Fatigue had little effect, with James scoring 35 points in a 97-93 victory. He has since added it into his conditioning program. The result has him averaging 37.6 minutes, topping 40 nine times this season. more at: The Sun Sentinel - Cleveland Cavs Discussion
