Cleveland Medical Mart & CC 9-13-12
Thanks for the Great update. does anyone know if the malls will be open before the convention center opens? It seems like they could eventually have the mall open while working on the inside

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I feel that an owner is something of a civic leader and when you put an owner into the hall of fame you have to look at how he treated his constituents. in this case, not so well. That is why I say no.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
the indians have lost 90 games in three of the last four years. I don't think this is an issue of the fans needing to temper their expectations. The real issue isn't how successful the tribe it, it is that the front office gives the impression that they aren't even trying.

Kent / Kent State University: Development and News
this is different. The other places are fields. This is a meeting place in the center of campus. Do we need a reminder of what Risman Plaza looked like two years ago? More people definitely hang out there now. Remember the bus shack(stop)? Point being is the center of campus needs to be aesthetically pleasing. and I am in favor of this.

I'm willing to pay for this green as long as they stop the "improvements" the are making to bowman and satterfield. I'll take some pics tomorrow, but they are ruining already ugly buildings with updates that history will not be kind to.

Cleveland: Marketing the City
Ohio Gov. John Kasich signs bill that changes state tourism funding at Rock Hall By Rachel Dissell, The Plain Dealer Thursday, July 05, 2012 Read More at: http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2012/07/kasich_signs_bill_that_changes.html CLEVELAND, Ohio — Gov. John Kasich chose one of Cleveland's largest tourist attractions, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, to sign a bill Thursday that could double the amount spent each year promoting Ohio tourism -- the state's fourth largest industry. The legislation jump starts a five-year experiment to determine whether Ohio's tourism industry can support its own marketing fund using a portion of sales tax revenue, which officials expect to increase. Kasich, who signed the legislation in front of crowd of downtown business owners, statewide tourism officials and museum visitors, was introduced by Rock Hall President & CEO Terry Stewart as "the biggest Rush fan I know." As speakers blasted the band's hit "Tom Sawyer" about a modern-day rebel, Kasich quipped, "That's no way to get more money." But the governor promised that Cleveland would benefit from the ability to better market itself -- which he hopes will help finally eradicate the dreadful "Cleveland jokes." "If you make more money, you get a piece of it and then you have more money to promote Ohio," Kasich said.

I think the best way to do it would be to dedicate a thread to each big project. and put small things like potbelly and chipotle in a "Random Gateway Development" thread.

Cleveland: Downtown: Drury Plaza Hotel Development
I heard the head of the district speak at the city club a few years ago and he didn't seem to like charter schools... I agree that This would be better served as a hotel, but how many downtown residents would warrant a downtown school? I guess most who live downtown now don't have children, but what if that changed at some point. Probably a school around CSU would be best, maybe.

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
There is a lot of making fun of peoples interests that aren't their own. People like country themed places, people like irish pubs, people like the tilted kilt, people like fine dining and people like sandwich shops. Why shouldn't there be western themed bars if the market supports it? and who are people to say these places don't belong downtown just because they don't fit into the mold they envision for the city? Cadillac ranch was one of the first big venues to invest in downtown during this recent resurgence. I think it exposes a prejudice about the rural culture from the people who make fun of it and judge it to be unworthy of euclid ave.
