  1. KJP, the picture won't even load so I can't even see the pretty sketches :(
  2. you're right. I just suggested pedestrian bridges as one option for making PS more pedestrian friendly. redirecting traffic would obviously be a better method. let's just hope that it can be applied correctly.
  3. MOVING ON..... Thank you for the pics FrqntFlyr! It's looking great. I can't wait for the penthouses to be finished.
  4. I somewhat agree with this. But the problem is making Public Square more pedestrian friendly. If we just renovate the existing space, I think we would also need pedestrian bridges (or tunnels?) to connect the four sections.
  5. I agree. And possibly a restaurant too. This is probably looking at least 20 years in the future but I also like the idea of a pedestrian bridge connecting the Whiskey Island Coast Guard Station to the (hopefully) newly developed port land. That would make it much much easier to access.
  6. I'm starting to back away from the 3rd proposal just because of how large the hill would be. maybe a combination of 2 and 3 would be nice, with that section of Ontario being closed off, and the two rectangles being connected by a smaller hill. Maybe, if possible, Superior could grade downward a bit, just so the hill isn't too high. Of course, this would require more money....
  7. need... pics...
  8. I hope they can also acquire that building between the county administration building and the 113 St. Clair building.
  9. Yes! Pics please! It would be a nice Christmas gift
  10. ^^ Finally some good news!! That's the best location, and I'm very happy we're close to a deal.
  11. I think we should make proposal 3, but also close down the section of Ontario that runs through the square. That would make it a little easier to make the hill, and possibly make it a little less steep in some areas. EDIT I think I was mistaken. The third proposal does call for the closure of Ontario, but it still makes an x-shaped mound which I think is unnecessary if Ontario will be closed. The mound should be less steep in the areas that Ontario would be passing through. I'm having a tough time explaining this, but I'm sure someone understands.
  12. That's a nice building :( Would have been nice if they could have found a way to renovate it instead of tearing it down.
  13. True, if anything a CC/UH proposal would at least keep MMPI in line.
  14. ^^Exactly! MyTwoSense, I have never said that the Clinic or UH has done anything on that scale and magnitude but I really don't have any reason to doubt that they could. But that was just a suggestion (not even mine actually). Likely, Cleveland is going too stick with MMPI and HOPEFULLY there is a lot more negotiating happening than what there appears to be.
  15. No I've never been to a merchandise mart, but I do understand the concept. Like I said, that was just my unprofessional observation. It just seems unlikely to me that MMPI is the only company that can run a medical mart. UH and the Clinic was just one suggestion since I can't think of another company that could do that off the top of my head.
  16. This is only my unprofessional observation, but it seems pretty unlikely that MMPI is the only company that would be able to run "fill in the blank" marts. originaljbw made the suggestion that University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic could jointly run a Medical Mart/Convention Center, and I don't see why they couldn't. They both run medical events through their hospitals. This is just on a larger scale. Are these marts really so hard to run that we have to hire some guys from Chicago who don't care about Cleveland? If you go to clevelandmedicalmart.com you will see rendering concepts of a nice glass building on St Clair, with a raised mall with numerous entrance pavilions, and a renovated public auditorium with meeting rooms. This is what we were told we were gonna get and I don't think we should compromise for anything less. Yes, that will require some more funding but I think it's worth it.
  17. Wow. If we can get the funding to build the third proposal, it would be a huge boost for street life in Cleveland.
  18. Yes, it is. Which is just another reason that we need the funding to fix that problem. But that's a discussion for another thread
  19. At least CCF and UH care about Cleveland. I'm sure they'd at least be willing to stick with the original plans (the St Claire site, raised mall, and possibly even public auditorium If more funding is given.).
  20. I must be clueless because I've never caught on to any rumors.
  21. I think more funding is necessary to get this project done the way we want it (and the way Cleveland needs it)
  22. everyone is suing each other! it's like a sue-a-palooza!
  23. MMPI is really getting on my nerves. It seems like they aren't even trying.
  24. I should probably know this already, but what are the other two buildings involved? Are they just the two buildings adjacent to the Schofield?
  25. Boreal, people call them that to make fun of them.
