  1. I don't wanna look at it :(
  2. Are there any vague plans of the "sustainability center"? Is it at least built up to the street?
  3. Ugh, why must they demolish the former Kinko's building? It's not too hard to rehab it and attach it to the new building.

It's weird that Cleveland doesn't appear to be trying to court Sears. There's a lot of prime real estate in Cleveland that would be great for Sears. That is, if they even care about having an HQ that isn't in the suburbs.
  5. Me being nit-picky: 1) Is there supposed to be another flag on that pole furthest to the right? It's bothering my OCD tendencies. 2) Is there anything planned for that space currently covered in plywood? Expansion? Another (very small) storefront?
  6. Actuallly not all the designs are designed by them. There are mulltiple different labels in the store, all of which are made in the usa. They do design the Dredgers Union label though, and those are stitched in Chicago.
  7. Is there even a reason they never even considered tearing down the garage directly across from the Higbee building to build an even large garage with a welcome center. That way nothing historical gets torn down. The Columbia is attractive, in good shape, and would make an excellent conversion to residential units. It's infuriating that the city would allow it to be torn down when there are so many other options.
  8. I stopped by Dredgers Union for the first time today and bought a couple shirts. I talked to the woman at the register and she said that the downstairs space will be used to host various events, but she also mentioned that they are hoping to build an elevator so they can expand and set up some displays down there. I hope something goes in that small space next to the Dredgers Union storefront. It's sort of an eyesore.
  9. This is incredible news and could mean a great deal for the city of Cleveland.
  10. btw the girl's name is Valerie Mayen, and yes she was on Project Runway. She's a huge Cleveland cheerleader. Any girls, or guys with significant others, should definitely stop by and consider buying something. She definitely deserves the business.
  11. I probably won't be able to stop by for a while. Could anyone snap some good interior pics for me?
  12. They should just demolish that parking garage on the corner of Prospect and Ontario. They can build their welcome center and an even larger parking garage there. There is no excuse for tearing down the Columbia when there are so many other options.
  13. Yeah I'm with hts. Yes, this is disappointing but it's not the end of the world. The Casino will bring a lot of money to the city. Also, consider the med mart/convention center, flats east bank, flats aquarium, MOCA/uptown, etc. All of which are projects that will be finished within the next few years and bring a lot of potential to the region. Don't let this one thing discourage you. Leadership can and will change in this city and I think you should both try to have a voice in changing it.
  14. I've seen that May Co. garage idea before and I think it's great! All the offices in the May Co. building can move to the north section of the building. The south section of the building would be a great location for apartments. And (according to that picture) it makes room for new world-class offices on the corner of Prospect and Ontario.
  15. Yeah American Greetings obviously wants nothing to do with the city. Unfortunately too many businesses are going this route. Do they not understand that THEY are creating the problems for the city by not supporting it?
  16. De-constructing and rebuilding the Stanley isn't a terrible idea. From what I understand this used to be common practice back in the day. I just wonder how much extra that would cost.
  17. Yuck. It would have been great to hear them make a surprise announcement for moving their HQ downtown.
  18. Maybe, by some miracle, there will be facade improvements in the future. (yes I realize I'm being highly optimistic)
  19. What needs to be rehabbed? There were businesses in there just a year ago so it can't be that bad. What's the problem with the building? The problem with the building is that it's in their way for their parking garage. It would be a pretty easy rehab, but it's just in the way. And it looks like the city is gonna let them tear it down.
  20. They didn't even think about how they could interact the design with the Stanley building. To them, the Stanley is just an obstacle they had to work around. Besides fixing it up and making it look pretty again, will the building serve a purpose? Will it be part of the welcome center?
  21. Are they just going to leave the Stanley in its horrible state?
  22. I have no doubt that the building COULD look attractive, but I think it's ugly in its current state. It needs cleaned. It also looks like it needs another window, or some banners, on the upper level.
  23. Valerie Mayen's store? Or is that going in playhouse square... I can't remember.
  24. I've always wondered if something would be done to make that ugly white building next to the House of Blues somewhat presentable. I see there's a banner going up, but is anything going inside?
