Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I actually really like that idea. It will allow that ugly parking structure to come down, and still preserve both sides of the May building. All that space in between is never going to be used by offices anyway.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
Yeah I agree with archangel. I don't think this is something to be so upset about. 3.5 star is fine with me.

They aren't attractive, but at least they interact well with the street and they'll bring lots of extra foot traffic. So no big complaints from me.

Governor John Kasich
WASHINGTON -- Ohio Gov. John Kasich said he has been in talks with city officials to bring shooting of a $40 million Marvel/Disney superhero movie to Cleveland. The Republican governor said Sunday that the movie, which he would not name, was originally supposed to be filmed in Michigan. http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2011/02/gov_john_kasich_in_talks_to_br.html

Wow, beautiful space. I'm sure it will be accompanied by some problems with acoustics, but sign me up for having dinner there when it opens.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
The money says it's not going to be temporary, but I thought the state constitution only allowed the one casino to be built in Cleveland.
-
Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
So there's really nothing temporary about it?
-
Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
The temporary casino will essentially clear out all offices in the Higbee building, and also renovate much of the building. What are the odds that this will clear the way for a department store to move in after the temporary casino moves out?

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
Every time I'm unsure of how miserable I am supposed to be, I just let Forbes tell me. I always thought I was pretty happy but it turns out I'm actually pretty miserable!

Cleveland: Downtown: Mall Development and News
nice work Burnham! I agree with KJP in that the extension should only be as wide as Malls A and B. Also, I don't think it's necessary to have that extension between the shoreway and the courthouse. I'm keeping costs in mind of course. Also, those stairs go right over Erieside Avenue and there doesn't appear to be a way for cars to drive under it! This could be fixed by simply moving the stairs forward, and moving that fireman memorial somewhere else. Seriously though, it looks like a great idea.

Cleveland: Downtown Aquarium
Thanks for the heart attack Murray Hill :P I read the comments. One person thinks the aquarium is only set to be built as a place for parents to drop off their kids while they gamble away their college funds in nearby casinos. haha

Cleveland: District of Design
I wish Valeria Mayen made clothes and accessories for men. I would definitely invest in buying something from her if she did.
-
Cleveland: District of Design
She'll probably have to sell more affordable clothes at her store if she wants to be successful. However, a lot of her stuff looks very classy (and unique) and I know some people who would pay a decent amount for it (especially since she was on TV).
-
Cleveland: District of Design
Yay! I was wondering when Valerie would finally open up a shop for her label. She was very good on the first few episodes of that season of Project Runway (she sort of fell victim to stress later on). I see a lot of potential in her label and she really loves Cleveland! Here's to hoping she gains some well-deserved attention.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Wow, that is atrocious. I've seen that picture before and I don't remember it being that ugly. LMN was a good choice.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
^ Yes. That.

Cleveland: Retail News
I'm not surprised.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Awesome. I'll definitely stop by once it's open.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
The county building is so ugly and its location is much better for a MM expansion and/or hotel (imo). There's probably somewhere the county can move offices (at least temporarily). Is there need for any more space because of the positions created by the new county government and the loss of the county annex building?
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Duh! Silly me. I was thinking of the convention center instead of the medical mart for some reason.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Wow awesome news. When MMPI said they wanted to expand north if necessary, would that mean building over the train tracks (and essentially paving the way for a mall-lakefront walkway)?

Cleveland: Random Discussions
I've always had this incredibly far-fetched idea about Scranton Peninsula... I think it's a really good location for a college campus. I'm thinking the campus would be in the big space between Scranton and Carter roads, and all the spaces between the roads and the river would be great for residential and mixed-use developments. I know starting a new college/university, especially in today's day and age, is a very difficult thing to do, but it's been done before. Many of the smaller colleges/universities in the region (Chancellor, OCPM, Virginia Marti) could possibly combine into one university, add classes, and move to that location. I'm fully aware of how unlikely this idea is, I just like to dream big and I know how much of a boost another university campus could be to Cleveland's economy. Pittsburgh was lucky enough to have so many successful universities, which contributed greatly to Pittsburgh's recovery.

Cleveland Area: American Greetings HQ relocation?
^ And that is why I'm much more inclined to believe that AG didn't have any interest in moving to Cleveland.
-
Cleveland Area: American Greetings HQ relocation?
Well, damn. Now I'm intrigued. I'm more inclined to believe that AG just didn't want to have their headquarters downtown, but I'd love to know more information about this.
