  1. It varies with the lighting and angle. From some perspectives and in certain lighting (clear, mid-day, blue sky), the silver metal panels look white like in the rendering, and the colored panels look more blue. From the perspective shown above, yeah, put a paper bag over it.
  2. MT Silver is well underway and should be done this year.
  3. Does glass count as façade material? Because that's going up on the 9th street side today. I don't think Summer is out of the question.
  4. Cleveland Construction updated their Schofield project page with info and some pictures. http://www.clevelandconstruction.com/InteriorDetail.aspx?ProjectID=75
  5. Some of the façade is up. The rear façade facing the breuer tower has gone up. The front façade facing E 9th is starting to go up on the first floor.
  6. Just noticed this nighttime render at http://residencesat1717.com/
  7. Additional insight into why it was placed on the east side of the parcel: "To preserve the vista towards the courthouse"
  8. I always thought towers in Cleveland were oriented on the north-south axis to reduce the sail/sway effect from winds off of the lake.
  9. So maybe something around this height? Sorry for using 55 PS's façade.
  10. Funny you mention that, because over the past few weeks they have been repairing the broken and boarded up windows, not sure why, but maybe to make the building more marketable.
  11. Sorry, no picture, but this was apparently the case as there are now two windows installed in these 3rd floor spots, and they look very nice, and appropriate for the building.
  12. Wouldn't surprise me if they did something ludicrous like this:
  13. The Ohio Ofice of Redevelopment has some good photos of the interiors of these buildings, among others (Schofield), on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/63837784@N08/sets/
  14. And Key (Tower) is a great example of how NOT to have a building interact with its surroundings on the ground floor. EDIT: I prefer positive reinforcement to convey a message. I prefer to say what I want to see happen rather what I don't want to see happen. Problem is, we don't have any hotels downtown I can think of with a ground floor that interacts well with its surroundings. Can someone else think of a positive example? Aloft? The ugly Comfort Inn at Euclid/18th?
  15. Not pictured is the deck with propane grill in the back yard.
  16. I understand that designs change, but jeez, this seems like a complete betrayal of their initial design, and really of anyone's hopes for something architecturally significant. I wonder what Litt's take will be now?
  17. This also looks nothing like the 'blade' or 'lightning bolt' design that was originally proposed. Now it looks like they were trying to emulate the prototypical CSU 1980's blocky brick building supplemented with a modern glassy add-on, like the law building or main classroom, but set back 50 feet from the road.
  18. The first vertical column of glass pictured upthread is up to the top of the building and visible from public square now.
  19. Hopefully this is illuminating. This is from the 9th floor of the Rose building, so 8 floors looks about right, without needing a crane jump.
  20. I was under the impression that the demo of Rascal House and Peabody's was negotiated so that the new building could utilize the full footprint of the site. Instead it looks like the demo was for space for an 'ornamental grass garden', and that the building could easily fit in the space to the east of Rascal house, if it was just rotated or reconfigured.
  21. Not to mention there is a Healthline station as you walk out the front door.
  22. Every day (weather permitting) they are out on the mast climbers working.
  23. Sung's Garden or something like that is replacing China Sea in Playhouse Square. The sign in the window made it sound like healthy-oriented Korean and Japanese food.
  24. Ok, wanted to make sure I wasn't seeing things so I walked by at lunch. It's Coon Restoration and it's definately full-on mast climbers so probably a facade restoration at a minimum.
