Cleveland or Pittsburgh???????????
If it were me, it would come down to which job paid more money or which job you would get more fulfillment out of. That's what you're going to be doing for the majority of your time. Do you have equivalent job offers in both Cleveland and Pittsburgh? Density and charm can be found in most large cities.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
1222 Prospect (Former Bottum's Up?) is being fixed up and there is a temporary sign for "Xecutive Lounge" or some such misspelling and if my eyes weren't playing tricks it also said "now open". Can't say whatever it was looked very inviting though.

At least one person dressed business formal and at least one dressed casual. Cars ranged from a newer high end Ford SUV to an old Jetta.- Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Just FYI, not trying to create any false hopes... There has been a significant uptick in activity in the past couple of days. All lights are on in the rotunda, and utility lights have been turned on in the first couple of floors of the tower. This morning there are at least 6 cars parked out in front on the sidewalk with people moving in and out. Ususally it's just a couple of county-owned utility vans.- Cleveland – Euclid 668
When I signed my lease they were still building out, but the prospect side was finished. I grabbed one of the last units, an efficiency, that was available. They confirmed when I moved out recently that there was a long waiting list (100+). I don't believe they use this as a scare tactic, it's just the way it is right now, and it's a really nice place to live and in demand. There is a great gym (Titan's) that offers a free first year of membership for residents, and the bar (Caddyshack) downstairs started off shakey but seems to be coming around. The rent went up this year, as you noticed the discrepency from the website. They do offer discounted rents if you work for certain downtown businesses (this saved me about $50 a month and also a free month of rent). Parking is $90 monthly at the attached garage, but you don't have to use it; you can get a cheaper rate if you don't mind walking to other garages or lots (I ended up leaving my car at a friend's house off of Fulton because I hardly ever needed it, having a CSU ID for free public transport) .- Cleveland: District of Design
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but walking home from class last night I noticed the floorspace at 1603 Euclid being set up by some girls with signs saying "yellow cake". I looked it up and found this: http://www.yellowcakeshop.com Does anyone have any details on this?- Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Rename the .zip to .pptx- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Does anyone else see the similarity, or is it just me? The article's mention of the lack of a big box store in downtown made me think of the crate & barrel store design.- Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Invacare is listed as the 27th largest medical device manufacturer on the referenced list: http://www.mpo-mag.com/articles/2006/07/top-medical-device-companies-report and is also listed as one of the announced tenants of the Medical Mart.- Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Working across the street, I can tell you the lights are on every day and there is almost always a van or two parked on the sidewalk in front of the lobby. My guess is that it is just a skeleton maintenance crew making sure the building doesn't fall into too much disrepair.- Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
This is a true statement. Although you can buzz the leasing office and request a tour of an apartment if you want to see the building. That's exactly what it is. A stairway going up. You can only exit from it though (as with all the stairways). It hits the Euclid side apartment floors. And all of the stairways are dingy. They are just now starting to paint and repair them. Keep in mind the building, though officially 'open', is still a work in progress.- Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
Here is what I was trying to convey, from the prospect side elevation (subpar cell pic): Other random inside the building pics: Prospect side elevator waiting area Euclid side looking up to apartments and down to Wyse Euclid to prospect step-up hallway View from that hallway out to tower city, atrium below Where each was taken, in order- Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
I'm renting at 668. The atrium is right behind Zinc and it's courtyard from Euclid avenue. It's what I would call the center of the complex. They have a few tables set up as overflow seating for the restaurant. Technically, Zinc is part of the atrium, as there are 10 foot walls with crown moulding that separate the back half of the restaurant from the rest of the atrium (whose ceiling and skylights are at least 20 feet high). When walking to the atrium from the Prospect-side hallway, your feet are about level with the top of those separating walls to the restaurant, and you descend 12 steps or so to get to the atrium level where you can access the courtyard, restaurant, or Euclid. It's a bit akward-looking before going down those steps, as you can see down into the restaurant over those separating walls (there is no faux ceiling or anything) and the tops of the mouldings are open with the accent lighting exposed. The back room of the gym has the same overhead view. As far as walking between Prospect and Euclid, residents have rfid cards which open the residential access doors on each side. However, you also need those cards to access the elevator rooms, and the stairwell doors are locked to the outside (one-way access). So technically, they could remove keycard access on those street-facing doors and access to the apartments would still be restricted to residents. I assume this was intentional to allow for the eventual public access to all the businesses from either side of the building. But who knows, maybe it's just super-double-security-9/11. For now, if you really want to get through during business hours, I would just walk in to Caddyshack or Zinc from the street and there are doors to exit to the inside of the building. Of course the ethics of walking through and not buying anything are questionable. - Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
