Not a name, but a slogan: Grab a brew or two On the Waterfront, Red, Green, and Blue Hahah nice
  2. Any opinions on the tick tock tavern in Edgewater?
  3. The first 4 might be, but the last 4 are in the right area. No, I'm pretty sure the last picture is actually looking at the area where the apartments are actually going to be. They're supposed to be between E. 21st and 24th, right? They could be wrong. But I do believe that the first picture in the second set of four, the one that shows the exterior, is west of East 24th.

  5. Thome always said its not about the money and then left us for the highest offer. I think that aggravated a few people. Id love to see us bring back Thome and Vizquel for a year or so. Let them retire here and I think they could actually add to the team. Plus they sure would be a big draw for fans and we'd probably see an increase in attendance.
  6. The apartments planned for north of Chester. And the ones planned to be completed by 2013
  7. I went downtown the other day with my parents to show them the Library(which they've never been in) as well as a few other stops. First off they loved the library, it is really beautiful inside. But anyways we parked at a meter and began walking down prospect when I saw the Columbia building half demolished. I had forgotten about it at the moment and it was a depressing way to start the day. But at least the rest of the trip was a good time!
  8. Masterson couldn't be more perfect. I feel bad for the guy, never gets a break. He needs to let up 0 runs to have any chance of winning and even when he does we still lose.
  9. My favorite plan that I really hope the university does is to build a greenspace/pathway bridge over east 21st and continue the greenspace over the garage and to the law library.
  10. To be fair they do plan on buying the lot behind the new path to continue it over to prospect. The new plaza/walkway was under construction and fenced off all of last school year and now it is open during the summer when most people aren't going to school. Give it a litte bit more time. And at least they demolished the least significant building on the street. Im not a fan of everything the school does but I think this particular project as well as the planned demolition of Viking Hall are not that bad of decisions. I still believe CSU has the ability to improve downtown faster than anything else. Keep adding more dorms/apartments and get more students to live downtown and you will begin to see more and more foot traffic as well as businesses popping up.
  11. The courtyard behind the student center is used alot. And the lots north of the school are already set for construction 327
  12. They're not going all-in with it, that's for sure. Tearing down two buildings for a "sustainability center" is hopelessly ironic. For every appropriate structure CSU has built on Euclid, they've torn down another and replaced it with lawn. And while I like the new student center on the inside, its street presence is no better than the old one, maybe worse. Last year I got a chance to tour the University of Minnesota campus... seems like a decent model to emulate. Id have to disagree that demolishing Viking Hall is really a loss. And although the new student center is not built right up to the street at all corners, it does have a lot of pedestrian traffic going in and out and does add to the street in my opinion.
  13. The building is about 15,000sf and was built in 1910. The University Architect believes that the buildings facade does not warrant dictating the development of the 2.5 acre lot. He asked the question, "Is it appropriate to design this 2.5 acre site around 60 sf?", the 60sf being the size of the facade. He also mentioned how the interior, sides, and back do not have any architecturally significant features, which I was surprised he said because, although I dont know about the inside, I would be confused if the building had architecturally significant sides on a building that was built to be directly next to another building, even touching. Buildings from that time era never had interesting sides. Should we have torn down 668 for that reason? He did go on and say that they will continue to explore options including salvaging the building and/or facade.
  14. Great pic MayDay! Is the hotel going where the crane sits now?
  15. That probably wont happen anytime soon. And while skyscrapers may look good from a distance, many add little to the steetlife and some even take away from it. I believe most of the gaps you see from certain angles are because we have the tallest 3 surrounding the square, with the rest bunched together on east 9th street. Clevelands skyline from the east looks very dense in my opinion and is my favorite view. From the north, you can see the division of the square and east 9th area so the skyline looks less dense, even though the streets are, but just with shorter buildings. The skyline shot you are most likely to see, and is the worst angle in my opinion, is the from the west. The tall buildings on the square block many of the buildings behind them in the east 9th area. This is probably the most photographed view because of accessibility. Edgewater park offers easy shots of the skyline, as well as other popular spots on the west side. To get good shots from the east side, you have to have access to high up spaces(most people do not) or possibly go into other less popular neighborhoods which the majority of people do not want to.
  16. I heard today that 1 bedrooms at The Bingham are now over $1000 a month at the minimum and that the new owner has done a lot of renovations to the place. I heard they repainted the whole place and I know they added new lights outside the building. If that number is correct that is a great thing for downtown. If they can sell that high it means that the demand is definitely getting up there.
  17. Crews poised to pour the concrete foundation for Cuyahoga County's medical mart CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Construction crews will pour 3,300 cubic yards of concrete early Saturday to create the foundation for the medical mart. About 330 trucks will haul loads of concrete to the site, at the northeast corner of St. Clair Avenue and Ontario Street, around 3 a.m.. "This is a significant milestone," said Dave Johnson, a spokesman for MMPI, which is developing the project. "This is the building block for the future medical mart." http://www.cleveland.com/medicalmart/index.ssf/2011/07/medical_mart.html
  18. With all the cuts they are facing what will there budget be? $1.50?
  19. Wow I would have never known that. Good job figuring it out, and good one Hts121
