Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Look at the potential. The buildings on the left all have great potential, as well as the Columbia building itself. Same with the south side of the May Company Building. It would lead directly to East 4th on one end and the Casino on the other. Why destroy any chance of this ever happening. Demolishing the Columbia Building wont necessarily destroy the chance, but building a 3 lane exit over a parking garage will.

And sorry for starting this over 1 page argument. Just saying that I didn't like the plan cause it would make Prospect pedestrian unfriendly.

I was referring to Prospect, not Ontario. I could care less about Ontario at his point, but this plan would make Prospect very pedestrian unfriendly in my opinion.

And not just any main street, but one prime for redevelopment being located smack dab in the middle of the stadium and arena, the casino, and E. 4th St. If you guys feel that strongly, I hope you wrote a convincing letter to Jennifer Coleman (the Chair of the Landmarks Commission) why this should not be demolished. It also wouldnt hurt to write the others on the Commission. She is currently on the fence about it (in part because these buildings are viewed as empty and eyesores, and in part because they are not viewing things in terms of other options for these buildings) Other commission members see it as a way of giving a rebirth to area that is currently a deadzone. Do tell them why that is wrong. The vote is May 26th. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,7006.990.html Where can I find her email? And should I include this, which is on their website "To encourage the preservation of historically and architecturally significant buildings and historic districts within the City of Cleveland"

This is what I dont like about it. Right after crossing a street, you must then cross this.

I just hate their plan for the Columbia building location. They dont just plan on demolishing a perfectly good building, they plan on replacing it with something that will make that area completely unfriendly to pedestrians. We cant have that on our main streets.

Just wondering if it will get jumbled if you try to show every downtown district

Cleveland: Cleveland Critical Mass (Group Bicycling)
^ Wow, that video. What a horrible event. And this mans comment is despicable "People get sick and tired of these belligerent, passive/aggressive bicyclists purposely and willfully blocking traffic with these "critical mass" events, which are explicitly designed to purposely disrupt the flow of traffic. Every now and then one or more of them gets hit by a car...it goes with the territory. If they're going to purposely be rude, belligerent idiots, than occasionally they can expect to encounter a rude, belligerent person in return. I have not pity whatsoever whenever I hear of a "critical mass" bicyclist getting hit by a car."

Maybe the Cleveland Clothing Company? Do they have enough products to fill a store though? It would tie in nice with the visitors center though

And just cause the rest dont live there doesnt mean they dont benefit downtown. During the school year, there is a lot of foot traffic and activity in that area.

Looked at the plans more, so where the columbia building now stands, they want to put a garage exit? That will be a pedestrian nightmare.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Wait, they plan on putting up a sign on the corner? Wouldnt that be more of the place to put the restaurant/store sign that will go in the spot?

I see what your intentions were. One of the best things about UrbanOhio is when you learn about something before it is announced. That hasn't happened in awhile though.

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
^ Not really, cause you are still losing a building that could serve as apartments and retail, for parking. I dont care how beautiful the garage is, it still only holds cars. Now if the garage is inevitable, I would prefer a nice looking garage at least.

If someone could, you should go and take some nice pictures of the Columbia building and the Stanley Block just in case.
