About the trash earlier, you do find a lot of it in the suburbs as well, on the non residential streets. You will see McDonalds bags, cups, napkins, candy wrappers, pretty much everything. The thing is that it doesn't stand out as much cause you just drive past it. When your downtown, you actually walk places, so the trash is more visible. People just dont know how to use a trash can.

2010 US Census: Results
The big thing with the southern cities are their Hispanic Population. Just look at, in several of the cities they are the largest population group. We dont see that as much here since we are far away from the border.

Three of my brothers friends were robbed at gunpoint in florida a couple days ago. Crime happens everywhere. Luckily they are all okay.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Also a guy with sitting down with a cup with change in it should not be seen as a threat. Maybe a minor annoyance to some, but now a threat. That is all.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
This has got me thinking. Im going to do a study by walking through the city throughout the day and I will record where and when I got asked for money and the response from the panhandler.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
^ I do agree with that. Clevelands perception by a lot of suburbanites is horrible! Its pathetic. Like it or now, these are the people who are this regions future. We need to get that perception changed.

Also maybe I dont experience it as much because im not out as much during "prime" panhandling hours. I walk around all throughout the day, but hardly am out for long during ball games and other sporting events/concerts when panhandling is at its worst.

Dont stare at them either, that helps. Just walk right past without making eye contact. Dont make it too obvious though lol, its pretty simple. Treat them like a new yorker would treat anyone else ;) lol

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Im like you Hts121 in which I walk all over downtown without almost any problems. Never see any crimes. Dont actually see a large homeless population, and hardly ever panhandled. When I do get I asked for money I just give a quick "sorry man" and keep walking and never have any problems. It is funny how certain people are prone to the panhandling lol. Maybe its worse for women?

Cleveland: Census Results
Some interesting things I saw For the main part of Tremont, we saw a 3% increase in White population, 80% increase in Asian population, but a 15% decrease in black population and a 55% decrease in Hispanic population. Ohio City as a whole seemed to lose in the upper 20% in white population while having mixed results in black population, some increase, some decrease. Also all other groups seemed to lose, besides for in census tract 103602 we see a 43% gain in Asian population. Detroit Shoreway seems to be seeing growth in all groups besides whites. In University Circle, Census Tract 1187 saw a 539% gain in asian population putting it at 17% of the total population. Also we see a 155% gain in Hispanic population, 163% gain in white population, but a 31% decrease in black population.

Cleveland 2050
^ exactly. We are going to need to build new. Save some pockets for sure like hts121 said. Not everybody is going to want to live in an old house, even if renovated. And yes, not every house in Cleveland is worth saving. The days of the double are mostly over. Some, I have seen have been converted to single family home, but in the end, many will have to go.

Cleveland 2050
Clevelands never going to be one of the biggest cities again, and that shouldn't be our goal. I would like to see us create a sustainable city. One that supports local businesses, buys local food, etc. I would like to see us lead the nation in renewable energy. We should strive to become one of the most walkable cities with great public transportation and active citizens. Go against the american city model. To get ahead you must become unique.
