  1. By next census St. Louis could be under 300,000. That is sad. And Chicago under 2,500,000. Im getting scared for our numbers. I wonder how long till they come out. All this while places like Phoenix are still growing. What a shame
  2. Treasury awards $53 million in tax credits to aid economic development, job creation in Cleveland area CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Investment funds in Cleveland have won $53 million in federal tax credits meant to encourage economic development and job creation in communities with high poverty and unemployment. The U.S. Treasury has allocated $35 million in tax credits to the Cleveland New Markets Investment Fund, an offshoot of Cleveland Development Advisors. During the past several years, the fund has used tax credits to help developers turn a former department store on Euclid Avenue into apartments and renovate the Capitol Theatre in Cleveland's Gordon Square Arts District. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/02/us_treasury_awards_53_million.html
  3. What are their occupancy rates anyways?
  4. What is the demographics of Little Italy? How many Italians? Age groups? Race? Ethnicity? Aren't there a lot of college kids who live there now?
  5. They definitely are apartments. My aunt used to live in one of the buildings. One of the buildings on the 3rd floor has an old abandoned ballroom last when I was there a few years ago. I thought I heard there was plans to renovate it, its a cool place. If you work in mentor and dont want to commute as far I think this would be a good location.
  6. A new building would be nice, and most likely will be built, but I think the Higbee building actually provides a better location with better connection to the rest of downtown. If needed expansion and they stay in the Higbee building, they could possibly eat up more floors and if they want to(and allowed) to build a hotel they could build one above the tracks where the Sherwin Williams mural is.
  7. Shaker Square doesn't have much, especially summer shots cause MTS took down all his pictures. We need some new ones!
  8. ^ We even have some larger buildings that never seem to find their way onto these photo threads. Like the Fidelity Mortgage building
  9. Browns franchise K Phil Dawson The team placed its franchise tag on the longtime dependable kicker, the only player remaining from Cleveland's 1999 expansion squad. Dawson, who was expected to become a free agent, will make $3.25 million next season, and it's possible he could still sign a long-term contract with the Browns. He's been trying to get a new deal from the club for several years. But despite being underpaid among his peers -- he made $1 million last season -- Dawson has continued to perform at a high level. He has connected on 252 of 303 career attempts, an 83.2 percentage, ninth-best in NFL history. Last season, the 36-year-old made 23 of 28 field goals and all 28 extra points. Dawson also passed Hall of Famer Lou Groza for the most field goals in team history and joined Groza and Don Cockroft as the only Browns to surpass 1,000 points. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6148107&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines

  13. You can move this if there is somewhere better for this. Anyways kind of a nice piece In Cleveland, a battle for the economy The narrative that haunts Cleveland — former empire of iron and steel, shipping and rail — has followed it for decades: the collapse of the manufacturing economy, the erosion of jobs, the exodus of residents. But Cleveland has weathered this recession much better than past slumps, as local industries have retooled and reinvented themselves. Old shops and factories have embraced new technologies. And for the first time in a while, there are grounds for optimism. That new story line is what draws President Obama to the city Tuesday, as he works to sell his new budget plan and the broader philosophy on which it relies. The American economy should update itself Cleveland-style, he believes, and the federal government should nudge it along with smartly placed investments. Republicans such as House Speaker John A. Boehner, an Ohioan, believe quite differently. They maintain Cleveland's success owes to innovation by business, and that the best way for government to help is to get out of the way — in budget terms, by cutting spending and taxes. Both Obama and Boehner appear to be partly right about what is responsible for Cleveland's fortunes, and both are pushing to advance their own approach. Obama's budget for 2012 increases investments in infrastructure, technology and education. The House last week proposed slicing $61 billion from the government's budget for the rest of 2011, cutting local economic-development programs in the process. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-obama-cleveland-20110222,0,5316566.story
  14. Also just looked, last time we destroyed Milwaukee 82-59 at their place, and beat Green Bay 83-75 at their place. Hopefully we remain focused and dont pull a lakers. Edit: I looked at Butler and Valparaiso and they seem to have a little tougher finish then us even though ANYTHING could happen. Butler plays Loyola which last time they beat but only by two points. 65-63 Valparaiso also plays Loyola which they beat by ten. 66-56 They also play UIC where they only won by two. 68-66
  15. Last two games at home, I really hope we come through. Ill try to get to one of the last two games
