I hope he goes along with the new rail plan. He will gain some respect from me if he does.

^ So while sitting in the patrol car, instead of focusing on keeping the streets safe, he will be thinking about how John Kasich called him an idiot. Hahaha that cop needs to get over it, or be placed on medical leave due to the inability to concentrate due to the horrific event that happened.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
It amazing how now even our outer ring suburbs are getting life sucked out of them by even farther outer ring suburbs. According to wikipedia numbers(could be wrong but usually aren't that far off) these are so numbers. Shrinking Cities: Willowick Ohio, 21,237 people in 1970, 13,727's today Eastlake Ohio, 21,954 people in 1980, 19,500 today Rocky River Ohio, 22,958 people in 1970, 18,900 today North Olmsted Ohio, 36,480 people in 1980, 31,319 today Growing Cities: Mentor Ohio, 2,383 people in 1950, 51,825 today Strongsville Ohio, 9,897 people in 1960, 43,825 in 2000. (Wikipedia shows an small estimated decrease today, not sure if thats correct) Westlake Ohio, 4,912 people in 1950, 31,719 in 2000. (Wikipedia also shows small estimated decrease here) Willoughby Ohio,5,450 people in 1950, 22621 in 2000. (Growth mainly due to available land being built on, original core shrinking. Also small estimated decrease this year too) And this is not including any of the really far out cities that are also growing. This trend has to stop eventually or the majority of our population will be living 45 minutes to an hour outside of downtown.

I think they will both benefit off each other. You might get frequent restaurant goers who after a meal decide to go check out the casino and maybe spend a little money, and you might get people from the suburbs who come down to the casino and heard good things about east 4th but never actually came and checked it out.

Cleveland Waterfront Line Extension / Downtown Loop
Westsiders can take advantage of red line. And eastsides can take advantage of the green/blue lines. But as someone who used to live on the eastside, northern eastside suburbs dont have any access to rail, they can get downtown in the same time they can get to the green road station. So if they can park at the muni lot and take the a short train in, it would be great in reducing the amount of parking needed in the center of the city.

I think that East 4th Restaurants and Warehouse District establishments wont be hurt by the Casino. They already seem to have a fairly strong customer base, I just dont see the casino taking it away. People need to eat, and not everyone will want to eat at the Casino buffet. Also, even if the casino goers never leave the building, they were most likely not the people coming down and supporting our businesses before anyways so its not like East 4th is losing customers, they just aren't gaining any new ones(which im sure they will).

^ That would be excellent for casino parking. We dont need to demolish everything surrounding the casino for parking, people can park far away, not deal with downtown traffic, and just take the train right into the casino! And thanks KJP for that, I wonder what the ridership numbers were once they closed the line.

^ actually! <b>Cleveland State tops Wright State, regains first place in Horizon League</b> FAIRBORN, Ohio -- Some of the fans came to see a Norris Cole party near his hometown of Dayton. They got a block party instead from another homeboy -- 6-9 junior Aaron Pogue, who lifted Cleveland State to a 74-72 victory over Wright State Wednesday night to regain first place in the Horizon League. With no WSU post player carrying more than 220 pounds the 265-pound Pogue had his way, scoring 13 of his career-high 18 points in the second half when the Vikings were keeping the Raiders at bay. He capped the game off with the night's pivotal play, sprinting back after a CSU turnover and blocking a Raiders shot that could have closed WSU within one with 3:27 left... http://www.cleveland.com/sports/csu/index.ssf/2011/02/cleveland_state_tops_wright_st.html

Do they count CSU students in the census? If I remember correctly, I think we talked about it and it was said that they do not count. If not, you can add on an additional 1,800 people to the number for a large chunk of the year.

<b>Borders closing two more Cleveland-area stores</b> CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Two more Cleveland-area bookstores will close as a result of Borders Group Inc. filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Wednesday. Borders superstores in Mentor and Medina, as well as five others in Ohio, will close by the end of April along with about 193 other stores nationwide. It warned that it may end up having to close another 75 stores later. Borders, which operates 642 stores with about 19,500 employees, had 20 stores in Northeast Ohio a year ago. Borders said that because it costs $2 million a week to keep those 200 stores open, some stores will start clearing out their inventory starting Saturday.... http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/02/borders_closing_two_more_cleve.html

I hate articles with that kind of tone. I think that they can actually turn a reader away, even ones who dont support him.

I dont want him mentoring Colt McCoy lol. "Remember Colt, only throw the ball to the receiver that is doubled covered. That way you have a better chance of throwing an incomplete pass, or even better, an interception."

I've never been to Detroit's casinos but aren't they more secluded? Not just only within themselves but aren't they not as close to the heart of downtown as ours will be? Casino Blessing or Curse? Cleveland Learns From Detroit DETROIT — As Cleveland tries to bounce back from tough economic times, some say a new casino could be the spark to make that happen. The city of Detroit has had casinos for more than a decade. What has it done for them? Many people say casinos have done great things for Detroit. But there are others who wonder about the benefit. The city still has high unemployment, a declining population and many blighted neighborhoods. The manufacturing city known for the Motown sound and the Big Three automakers has fallen on hard economic times in recent years. More than ten years ago, three casinos were built in the city: MGM Grand Detroit, Motor City and Greektown. Brian Holdwick, with the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, admits the gambling centers are not a magic fix for the city's problems, but he says they are a major help.... http://www.fox8.com/news/wjw-cleveland-casino-look-at-detroit-pros-cons-kf-txt,0,7676248.story

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
NEW OWNERS INVEST IN ATTRACTIVE UPGRADES AT THE BINGHAM It was less than 90 days ago that Resource Real Estate, Inc., officially assumed ownership of The Bingham located in the Warehouse District of downtown Cleveland, but already the company has made good on its promise to invest in upgrades that enhance the overall appeal of the upscale apartment community. Within the past 30 days, several areas of The Bingham have undergone a facelift. Both the lobby and model have been redesigned and redecorated to reflect a more contemporary décor. LED lighting on the exterior walls illuminate the building in an array of colors during the evening hours. Landscape lighting has also been installed near the building's exclusive dog park to accommodate the large percentage of Bingham residents who currently own dogs. Residents will also now have access to 24/7 concierge/doorman services. The new concierge is available to make dinner reservations, arrange for a car service or to find a housekeeper, personal trainer, massage therapist or even a dog walker. He is also on hand to help the residents organize their closets, home and life. Although the residents pay for the services they book, the arrangements and reservations are complimentary. The concierge staff will also act as a liaison to address all resident requests and questions... http://pr-usa.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=625318&Itemid=33

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I really hope we get rid of Delhomme. <b>Browns have no plans at present to cut Jake Delhomme</b> The Browns shed some dead weight salaries earlier this week, but their most overpaid player remains on the team. Browns G.M. Tom Heckert told Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer there are no plans “at present” (Grossi’s words) to cut quarterback Jake Delhomme. There’s no rush to cut most players pre-work stoppage and it’s hard to believe Delhomme will be back next year. Due $5.4 million, Delhomme is behind Colt McCoy on the team’s depth chart. Delhomme threw two touchdowns and seven interceptions last year and his yards-per-attempt was far lower than McCoy and Seneca Wallace... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/13/browns-have-no-plans-at-present-to-cut-jake-delhomme/
