Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
Yes! 1. CSU needs to keep adding residents to their campus, that area is already seeing way more life! 2. In Playhouse Square area I would like to see more apartments/condos, but they have continued to improve the area. 3. Ohio City is continuing to get better stores and restaurants 4. And University Circle always has some kind of construction going on! Such a great area

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
I hope they dont keep delaying the main casino and decide just to make the permanent one in the higbee building. Is that even a possibility?

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
No, you can't. I can see why you think that, but it's a gross oversimplification. Year-to-year numbers are pretty much meaningless. You have to look at long-term trends. We are a high-crime city primarily because we are a high-poverty city. Homicides dropped from the mid-nineties through the first part of the last decade, which corresponded to relative prosperity in the city. Population loss also slowed during that period. In the mid-2000s, there was a series of big arrests that led to a shakeup of the gang hierarchy on the streets. For the next few years, there was essentially a gang war going on, and that (along with the recession) caused an uptick in crime. Now, the gang war is basically over and we're slowly recovering from the recession, so the trend now is back towards a lower level of homicides. 75% of last year's homicides happened on the East Side, and 40% were in the southeast corner (District 4) alone. It's no coincidence that the areas of the city with the worst drug and gang problems see the most homicides. If you want the homicide rate to improve for real, and by that I mean over the long term, addiction and other programs in these neighborhoods need a big boost. The problem with that, of course, is money. Money as well as success rates. Its hard to break addictions.

Still 120-11 is still 109 murders. 70 or 80 would be a huge drop

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
They have the potential to build a whole village. They could benefit off of the hotel for the casino. I think they have more to gain then what they see in the loss of foot traffic in the mall during games. Which I believe would still be high. And with the casino they could see more foot traffic. And all the additional residents they would see in the development of that area would also benefit them. And those people are more permanent.

That is an awesome plan. Did you make that? Thats exactly what I was thinking but you took it even further by developing the land around it. What a great idea.

And you can judge how we are doing by comparing the crimes from year to year. I see improvement when less people are dying.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I just didnt like what I saw with his turnovers and missed shots, often when he should have passed instead of shot. Thanks for clearing that up. I always tried to figure out what it meant, trying to link it to the players individual stats which I could never seem to make sense of.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
No. There were 4 murders since the 17th according to crimereports. One in Lakewood too which is quite surprising. Damn. I was hoping for under 70 this year. That would have been an amazing improvement from last year. If we can stay under 80 that will still be good. The ultimate goal is 0 but that is not realistic. For now all I want to see is improvement.
