Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
This thread is going all speculation, but I'd have to ask, if he's saying it's Air Conditioning or a wheelchair lift issues, how can those things be directly related to passenger behavior? I don't understand how that could be the case, based on what you just wrote. Passengers do not control the A/C (or vents) nor do they control the wheelchair lifts. If you said the "seats were damaged", or "windows broken", then I would understand. He did say broken windows. Obviously I didn't mean the A/C! "broken window's, broken poles"

^ Could it be the East side riders treating the vehicles worse?
-
Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I doubt every east side bus is like that. It costs a lot of money to buy new buses. RTA buys several busses each year. Since many are in the state you have listed, I'm assuming the higher ridership routes are the highest priority for new buses.

I'm assuming it is all linked to ridership.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Missed this one too lmao Guess that explains the huge Puerto Rican biker gang that rumbled by as I was tucking into my eggs They surprised me last year. Some random Sunday I was downtown and saw a ton of cars with big flags on their cars or hanging out the window. Then I realized what was going on. Ha!

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
^ I think that building has actually been/being renovated. My guess now is that they want to demolish those buildings for parking for residents. Edit: That actually makes no sense. The building footprint will be used for greenspace, not any additional parking. This should be denied IMO(probably wont be). We cant keep cutting holes on an already fractured Euclid Avenue. Especially historic buildings.

I saw that earlier. Made me mad. Love to see that TOD on our new BRT line! Will they add this to their dollar figures for growth along the route? :P

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
^ I think its more like 2,000 but I agree. But we should agree to move this discussion elsewhere, although not necessarily the provided thread as we are discussion neighborhood makeup, not safety concerns.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
The Cleveland Institute of Art land near the museum is a huge space. I really hope it gets redeveloped as residential with a few shops in it. It would have a massive positive impact on UC, which needs more residential.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
^ Alot of those places are big vacation spots or party spots where people go to party. I would bet a large portion of their clients are not locals. Cleveland just doesnt have that scene IMO. And I totally understand the need for places that I or anyone personally dont participate in. I dont eat meat but I get excited when I hear a new steakhouse is opening. Or when I heard Chipotle was opening I knew that would be good for the neighborhood. I dont drink coffee but like to see coffee shops open as well. My main concern is the neighborhood, not what I personally would use. IMO nightclubs have had a negative impact on the Warehouse District as an urban neighborhood. Id rather see nightclubs in more of a non residential area/downtown neighborhood where they wont have that negative impact.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
How is the nightclub scene doing nationwide? Everyone I know who is in their twenties hate west 6th and prefer more relaxed scenes like Tremont and Ohio City. This includes multiple social groups and different ages. Personally I don't drink. I just really prefer an active urban neighborhood over a dance scene two nights a week that is dead the rest of the time.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
The Warehouse District is dead during the week and during the day. Something needs to change IMO. The most active section is the section south of st clair on West 6th, and that only has buildings on one side. It has restuarants though that serve lunch with patios, a hair salon, and a starbucks. Gives that area life. Go north of st clair and it is dead.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
I would love to see the neighborhood makeup completely revamped. Get rid of the clubs and add shops and neighborhood places. Places open during the day! And during the week!

CLEVELAND - Tastefully yet Terminally Progressive (NEW PHOTOS ADDED 8/11/13!)
Ontario looks really good with the fresh pavement and paint. We really need to repave all streets downtown. Will clean everything up and make downtown look much nicer. It would also create smoother car, bus, and bike rides.

This are is not next to UC You belive it will being manufacturing, but there is no plan for building of place of employment You expect, but there is no plan for housing or investment in the neighborhood When funding is in place.... What plan?? When has the Clinic public said they support the road? Why aren't they investing in this road as they did with the HL? I suspect it would be a conflict of interest. As KJP says about "sheep", the way you wrote this, that is how you appear to me. You've bought into something that has no plan or vision what-so-ever. This HIGHWAY is a joke. I'm not sure if you ever answered my question, might have missed it in all of the posts, but would you apply the same standards to all public projects? Transit, medical Mart, etc? Because most likely those would all get turned down too under those criteria. If not, you really can't pick and choose based on what you prefer. And can you lay off the personal insults. I'm on my phone right now so I can't see who your response was to, but they are doing nothing wrong by agreeing with a project that many agree with. This forum is not for calling people out about there differing opinions on projects. If you think he's an idiot and a fool for buying into it, great. Just keep it to yourself and leave the forum to actual productive discussions.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
The New Herald used to do very well. Although they are down, like all papers are, they still are doing alright. Management is what has killed them. Also corporate is using their revenue to subsidize failing papers elsewhere. Instead it should be used to invest back in the the News Herald or to increase employee pay. And as for Sun, the PD destroyed it. They hired managers who knew nothing and did nothing to stop the paper that was massively profitable into a financial drag due to wasteful spending.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Yeah its a nice walk so that makes things better, but it does suck knowing your transportation system isn't working correctly for whatever reason. And same here, when the weather is nice I prefer walking. But I do hate walking to the warehouse district. The walk is incredible depressing. The warehouse district is extremely disconnected from the rest of downtown right now because of those parking lots. And public square still isn't my favorite walk, so since my destination was West 9th, I opted for the bus! Maybe someday...

ODOT Policy Discussion
KJP you'd probably know this, how much of the gas tax actually goes to highways? And what do license plate fees go to?

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
^ good first point Second one I don't agree with though. Just look at housing prices. In New York, attractive high density living is extremely expensive. Same can be said for countless other cities. The demand is high and the supply is low, thus extremely high prices. I do think that the market for average density is not that high. In cleveland we have very low density urban neighborhoods. Some have some demand, which is good, but it is not nearly what it needs to be and their low density will prevent future growth. Think of some of the most expensive, non mansions, areas to live. Many are extremely high density. Some are not, but like I've said before, not everyone is going to agree on something so major. And yes, a city filled with Strongsville and Mentor density probably is better than what many are now, including cleveland. Abandonent, decay, and vacant lots/blocks/neighborhoods are a killer. The city and downtown would both be stronger if most of it looked and acted like those cities. But that's the cheap route to go. Building high density neighborhoods would improve the city at a much higher level.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I was traveling from Playhouse Square to West 9th today so I decided I would take the E Line Trolley. I waited at the station for several minutes, didnt see anything coming do decided to start walking. I walked to public square, still no bus, so I decided one had to be coming soon so I waited at the East 2nd street station. It took an additional 11 minutes for the bus to finally show. Had to be around 25 minutes total of waiting for the bus and walking(not including riding time). These are supposed to come every ten minutes but hardly ever do. This just goes to show that Euclid Avenue has terrible traffic lighting. Terrible for cars, healthline, and trolleys.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
The problem is that the line was built on an industrial rail row which is designed to be disconnected from neighborhoods. It is highly surrounded by industrial and contaminated vacant sites. The Green/Blue line are better candidates for TOD. I would love to see more investment into the Shaker Square area, with high density market rate development along Shaker Blvd, west of the square.

Nice, thanks! Now if only they could tear off that facade and restore the original!

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
You ignore my questions, now you ask me one?! BRING BACK WHAT INDUSTRY? WHERE ON ANY PLAN DO YOU SEE A PLAN FOR INDUSTRY? WHERE? WHERE? WHERE?? There is no damn plan. They only want to shove a highway throw an area full of poor people and call it progress! I call it BS. As I've stated before, these highways have divided out city before and this will continue to do so. Full? Can you please find a section that is atleast more urban than Avon.
