  1. Except all the injuries. Hopefully none are too serious. And although our fourth team players won, our first team lost, even though they didnt play much. Still nice to get the win though.
  2. I would love to get a tour of both Public Hall, and the Trust Rotunda. Both buildings that I have never entered.
  3. <b>Cleveland's John Marshall High will be razed after football season</b> http://www.cleveland.com/sunpostherald/index.ssf/2012/08/clevelands_john_marshall_high.html
  4. People get their blue they wanted to stay on Uptown ;) But this is really a major project. Over 300 units getting added to the downtown market. With some of those units being larger, I wonder how many people will end up living in these. Hopefully these are extremely successful, and CSU can work with them again to finish building out the lot north to Payne, adding another 300 or so units and an interior parking garage.
  5. ^ Wow, thanks for that indepth response. And welcome to UrbanOhio! That was a great piece of information. Cleveland police warn of downtown carjackings CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Police warn downtown workers and visitors to be extra cautious after some carjackings within a few blocks of the Justice Center. Police said four cars were stolen at gunpoint between June 22 and July 30. In three of the cases, the victims were young women. The fourth victim was a young man. Three of the cars have been recovered. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2012/08/cleveland_police_warn_of_downt.html
  6. I had always hoped that they would do well. I tried to support them, but didnt like the place, but went back several times. Sorry that it is my opinion that the place wasnt the best, and its not that Downtown Cleveland cant support retail, like the article suggests, it closed because that place in general was not good, IMO, and apparently others since the place is closing. It was overpriced, selling products for double the price you could find elsewhere, and apparently not good on sizing as well. No need for personal attacks, so chill out. People put a lot of their blood and sweat into Crocker Park and Legacy Village. And they are constantly getting ripped on, on this website. There is no difference.
  7. So he is leaving town because of their failure? Anyways, I dont like hearing that Downtown Cleveland cant support retail, and that we need more residents. Can we just admit that Dredgers Union kind of, well, sucked? I mean half of us on here who want to go out of our way to support these type of places didn't like the place. I went in their several times with my girlfriend, looking to support them but always walked out with nothing. If you take all the retailers that are located in Crocker Park, place them in one location downtown, I would guarantee it would be just as successful, if not more, than Crocker Park.
  8. Downtown Pittsburgh is worse off than we are. We have better restaurants, and more and better retail. Yes they have a heavily subsided Macys downtown that is not doing good, and doesnt look good, but that doesnt attract any other retail. Atleast we have Tower City, with some stores that Pittsburgh would love to have.
  9. They were just too overpriced. Selling a product for double of what you can buy it for on the products website isnt right. I actually hope this space is filled with a restaurant. I think Dredgers Union created somewhat of a dead space on East 4th, and I would like to see a patio take that sidewalk space instead of the awkward gap. I think Prospect and Euclid is where the retail belong. East 4th is cool as a food street, and should remain a food street IMO.
  10. Amtrak Losing Millions Each Year on Food Sales WASHINGTON — Amtrak lost more than $800 million on its food and beverage services over the last 10 years, largely because of waste, employee theft and lack of proper oversight, government auditors have found. The railroad’s food and beverage service has never broken even since it was required by Congress to do so in 1981. The losses were the focus of a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing on Thursday that reflected partisan views over how Amtrak should be run. Republican lawmakers suggested that food services should be privatized. Democrats questioned the need for the hearing, saying the railroad was dealing with the losses. Joseph H. Boardman, president and chief executive of Amtrak, confirmed the losses but said the railroad was taking steps to address the problem. “We are still looking for ways to improve our cost recovery,” he said. According to audits by the Government Accountability Office, an investigative arm of Congress, and the railroad’s own inspector general, Amtrak loses about $80 million a year selling food. Since 2002, Amtrak’s food service has lost $834 million. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/03/us/politics/amtrak-lost-834-million-on-food-in-last-decade-audit-finds.html
  11. I didnt know ACRT has left the campus area. That is where the langston leasing office is located now. Once they leave I hope they are able to fill it with retail or food. I never liked ACRT being located there for some reason. I would love to see them do a renovation to the building and add windows and storefront along East 21st
  12. The studio apartments are renting at $1.76 per square foot. One bedroom apartments are renting at $1.48, $1.52, and $1.66 per square foot. Two bedroom apartments are renting at about the same. Here is the floor plan viewer. http://www.thelangston.com/TheLangstonOH/3dfloorplans.aspx
  13. If I was ever to leave Cleveland, it would probably not be to anywhere in the United States.
  14. God bless you. The vast majority cannot. I can't afford that now, and I do fairly well these days. Do you really think most college students have that kind of budget? Anyway, I had thought this development was overtly intended for people like professors, and grad students who already have careers downtown. They cant afford it, they take out loans lol, the same as if they were going to live in a dorm, but instead they get to live their all 12 months of the year. And I think that graduate students, professors, and professionals were their the original target, but really they will rent to whoever signs on. I still think it will be a mix.
  15. I still think the those arcades, especially the Euclid arcade since it is worse off, would be great as a place for small local shops like Room Service and Salty not Sweet, maybe even Yellow Cake. If you put them all in one location, and that specific location, I think it almost becomes somewhat of an attraction, and they benefit off of each other. It would be a great place for locals to try out their business like that. And from there they could always expand into larger spaces along Euclid and Prospect. It brings new local shopping downtown, and could really jumpstart the retail scene downtown in my opinion. Imagine walking through those arcades and see them full of small little boutique like local businesses. I think it would be successful, and a good direction to go.
  16. And the facade restored hopefully! Im glad to see this finally happen!
  17. Cedar Hill Salon in Cedar Fairmount was broken into. They stole a lot of expensive products and the cash drawer
  18. NO LOGOS. That would be terrible and I think the fans would be pissed. The helmet cant change in my opinion. And yeah, their have been minor changes, but nothing major.
  19. I prefer the classic look like it has always been.

I agree with the Little Italy or Cedar Fairmount. Little Italy would be great because you would be able to easily walk to CWRU from their. Plus Little Italy is connected to the Red Line rail, and a short walk to the Healthline on Euclid Avenue. Cedar Fairmount is another great neighborhood, but a little further away, so the walk can be tough, mainly because of the hill. Still the drive would only be a few minutes. Both safe areas with a lot happening.
  21. If you want to knock something down, get rid of the subway building. That does not belong in this neighborhood.
  22. "First and Main" is not connected very well to the existing downtown in my opinion. Its awkwardly placed away from the old downtown and divided by a large parking lot. It acts as its own entity, and not part of the existing downtown. And I was just saying Crocker Park destroys Eton which is hideous and has even worse street frontage.
  23. Does anyone know why the apartment building across the street was demolished?
