  1. A trip on RTA's Green Line leaves traffic worries behind: George Zhao At 10 p.m. on a recent Monday, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's Green Line train departs from Tower City Terminal, sending many fans, who had just witnessed the Cleveland Indians avoid a sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles, back home along Shaker Boulevard. It is packed. It is loud. It is lively. Passengers who just barely made it to the train cannot find a seat. But standing is better than sitting in a car, caught in a traffic jam while trying to get onto the highway, right? The train moves along, and the iPhone app measures its speed at more than 45 mph during its fastest stretch. Barely anyone gets out of the train in the first few stops, at the inner-city portion of the line. At Shaker Square, the last station in Cleveland, a noticeable number of passengers leave. Then another bunch gets off at Warrensville Station, which has a sizeable parking lot. Finally, just under 30 minutes since departure, the remaining people get off at the Green Station, the terminus. http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2012/08/a_trip_on_rtas_green_line_leav.html
  2. Flash, a-ah, saviour of the universe!
  3. He had a press conference and said naming rights will probably happen down the line.
  4. The full extent of the airport land is extremely far away and disconnected from downtown. If anything, if it were to close, I would rather have that land taken over by the port, freeing up their far better positioned land. I still wish we could give up wendy park though :P But yeah, highrises will never happen. Its not feasible.
  5. And the land it is on, whether the airport was there or not.

  8. Hey Jerry, did RTA approve this!? "And the company is trying to buy nearby land from the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, for a 20-apartment development. The transit agency's board is set to vote Tuesday on the potential sale, of 0.38 acres for $147,500. Once a bus waiting zone and turn-around, the property has not been used for years.........the company hopes to start construction on 20 apartments in late 2012 or early 2013 - if the transit agency approves the deal." http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/03/wxz_development_plans_30_apart.html
  9. Unless they are changing from condos to apartments, it's part of their plan: http://www.circle118.com/site-plan I only wonder because of this article from march "WXZ Development Inc. will build rentals as the last phase of Circle 118, a for-sale townhouse project at East 118th and Euclid Avenue. The Fairview Park developer plans to start construction next month on 10 apartments in a three-story building."
  10. 15'6'' platform is wider than we expected or am I reading that wrong.
  11. This never got answered earlier. Anybody know anything?
  12. Wow thanks for all the updates! A lot going on. It will be nice to see Uptown finished.
  13. Are circle118 starting on the apartments?
  14. Thanks for the picture. Its really far along compared to last time I saw it
  15. I dont understand why teams dont build the stadiums, and pay to keep them up. Well Dallas did, but they are the only one I can think of. They easily have the money to do so. How did it become common for these teams to get these sweet deals? If every team did that they might lose some revenue of course. So cut players salaries. They have gotten ridiculous anyways. They strike? who cares. They will eventually come back to make their $500,000 to $1,000,000 a year that they would not be making doing anything else.
  16. With great power comes great responsibility Ha!
  17. Cause Legacy Village has nothing in it, and is competing with the Beachwood mall.
  18. How does a smaller city like Savannah Georgia have a Banana Republic, Urban Outfitters, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and a Gap, all downtown in storefronts. We really need a retail boost downtown, and not in Steelyard Commons. Steelyard is good for what it is, Target, Walmart, and other large chain stores. Other retailers belong downtown.
  19. Between Downtown, Flats West, Northern Tremont, and the heart of Ohio City, there is only 11,685 residents. And not all of those have money, or are highly educated like jjames0408 said might be a requirement.

  21. Last paragraph "With the litigation resolved, Lindner said Zaremba could tackle an apartment development on a parking lot just south of the townhouses, along Superior Avenue."
  22. Wow, that is terrible
  23. Dan Moore's granting of the land to the County was meant to prevent *exactly* that from happening. The City of Cleveland was looking into moving port facilities into the Whiskey Island area. Environmental interests and the WIM ownership got together and eventually did a quicky deal with the county (with part of the deal being that the land must remain a park in perpetuity and that the marina would be leased back to Mr. Moore's group) before Cleveland could pull eminent domain. The City sued the County and it became a big a democratic party p*ssing match, but eventually it ended. Well that sucks. If land could actually be "traded" id much rather have the land west and north of the browns stadium.
  24. Why would we get rid if choo? He is basically our best bat on the team
