  1. ^Well it is summer, so the CSU area is going to be mostly empty. And great tour. Thanks for sharing!
  2. Its more of a recent problem. Those are all in the last month. I think they have to be somewhat related. Not a recent problem. Last summer gangs of black youths on bicycles attacked and beat 3 victims within a weeks time. One on Lake and West, one on West between Clifton and Baltic, and another on Detroit near W 115. It's a trend and the race observation is correct and valuable if you want to be aware of possible trouble. I just meant a recent problem around CSU.

I recently went to Pittsburgh and really enjoyed it. But alot, and I mean alot, of their buildings downtown are in the condition that the Goldfish store and Family Sportswear buildings are in in Cleveland. And Stanley Block. Downtown Cleveland's old buildings are in far greater shape. But to that point, atleast Pittsburgh still has those buildings, which are waiting to be renovated, while Cleveland demolished large amounts of them. Downtown Pittsburgh did not have better retail options, and a lot of their storefronts were in terrible shape, and either abandoned, or filled with some weird crappy store. If anything, Cleveland has more retail options because atleast we have Tower City.

I dont see their impact. How is Macys in Downtown Pittsburgh helping? The area surrounding it isnt in the best shape and the store itself isnt that nice. Also, as I said earlier, Downtown Pittsburgh isn't filled will great retailers. It doesnt appear that their Macys is having any great impact on their downtown.
  5. Anybody else excited about an August groundbreaking for the new Cedar Road - University Circle Red Line station?!

It is better off with a TJ Maxx, but this discussion and thread is about downtown department stores. Downtown Cleveland would be better off with several retail stores but this isnt about that. Its a discussion about department stores.
  7. Great pictures! Thanks for sharing them. I really like all of them.

A traditional department store to me a store that you see anchoring malls, such as Dillards, Macys, JcPenny, Sears, Saks Fifth, and Nordstrom. TJ Maxx is a store that anchors a strip center.
  9. ^ Wow, thats terrible. Good thing you didn't let him intimidate you.
  10. I probably didn't make it clear, but I meant that the ones near CSU have to be related. I mentioned upthread that I doubt there is a connection to the Shaker Square ones, but there could be.
  11. The Macys downtown in Pittsburgh was pretty empty when I was there, and it wasnt it the greatest shape. And it was mostly surrounded by crap so I dont know if its really having any positive effect on downtown Pittsburgh. Its not like Downtown Pittsburgh has any great retailers. Even suburban department stores are not doing so well. I would guess that in the next few years, at least one of the department store anchors at the Mentor mall wont be there anymore, or that Dillards will consolate into one building.
  12. Im sorry, but those things are hideous!
  13. Its more of a recent problem. Those are all in the last month. I think they have to be somewhat related.
  14. Look at page 29. It shows the same rendering I posted as part of a much larger area.
  15. ^ Why? "The suspects were described as three African American teenagers, one in a white tank top shirt and another wearing a blue FUBU tee shirt." and a different one... "The suspects were described as a group of five to six African American teenaged males on bicycles" And another... " A group of seven to 10 African American juvenile males on bicycles passed near her. One of the boys, with dark shorts and no shirt, took her cell phone. The group then left the area on their bikes. " And another... "The suspects were described as African Americans in their mid teens. One individual was described as bald, or wearing short hair, another was described as having dreadlocks. All three were wearing plain black and white shirts."
  16. I doubt there is a connection, but recently there have been black teens on bikes taking peoples phones and backpacks north of Cleveland State.
  17. ^ Ha that one picture of those kids sitting in a circle is straight up 1990's!
  18. I think having Macy's headquartered there has helped Cincinnati out a lot. Didn't they downsize the store recently though?
  19. We need some mall cops! :P
  20. This is a good point, and I agree completely. I just am disappointed he didn't find a spot in Downtown Willoughby. I think it could have really helped out the area, and a new sign would have looked awesome in Downtown Willougby.
  21. ^ That would be awesome, and really needed. This winter the building will get even emptier when one of their tenants leaves. And apartments are really popular right now, and this would be a nice first step to revitalizing that part of Euclid Avenue.
  22. Maybe a nice big development connected to Crocker Park would do! Haha!
  23. Case Western in their master plans shows the Closing of Juniper and the reopening of Magnolia. I really like that part of their plan
  24. Thanks! Its looking really good IMO
