Cleveland: Retail News
That would be a HUGE blow to the development. Things would start looking very bad, and phase 2 would have to be canceled. I hope that is just wrong information.

Cleveland Public Square: The Past vs Today
^^ I think it appears that way because the pictures are more focused on the quadrants, and less on the surrounding buildings, which what my focus is. If you look at the sidewalks, they have great to decent foot-traffic. And the buildings on the square back then are far more practical for the space and far more attractive. Imagine all those buildings being filled today with local businesses and apartments, with ground level filled with shops and restaurants, with patios on the sidewalk. And the park right across the street. It would be a great scene. And I think if people remain just civil there is no reason this thread shouldnt stay under control! :)

Local, unique, retail stores. Yes Cleveland is missing that. We dont really have any cool, interesting, large or small, shops downtown anywhere.

Cleveland Public Square: The Past vs Today
Personally, Public Square is an embarrassment to the city, and greatly displays the lack of historic preservation in the city. Look at Public Square in the past. The building uses added to the life of the square, unlike what sits there today. Imagine how amazing the square would be if these buildings still existed today. It would easily be the most active, and beautiful part of the city, instead of the useless space most of use avoid today, if not on purpose, then just based on the lack of purpose/use.

An American Gem: Savannah, GA
Wow, the tree coverage there is awesome. Thanks for sharing. Cleveland needs to plant more trees! And ones that grow taller than 12 feet d@mn!t! Also loved the architecture, the activeness, and the brick streets!

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Blind RTA rider says transit cops failed to rescue him after falling on tracks, calling for help CLEVELAND - An exclusive 5 On Your Side investigation reveals how a blind rail passenger fell onto busy tracks at RTA's Tower City terminal, but at least five transit police officers failed to respond to his desperate calls for help. Niral Sheth, 30, fell at least 3 feet onto an active rail line on a busy Saturday afternoon in April, but it took more than 11 minutes before transit police arrived at the scene. The life-threatening scene was recorded by an RTA surveillance camera and at least five transit police officers were on duty at the time. Incredibly, Sheth was pulled to safety by a blind companion who later went searching for help -- led by his guide dog. http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/investigations/blind-rta-rider-says-transit-cops-failed-to-rescue-him-after-falling-on-tracks-calling-for-help

Melt opening up a location in Mentor... When I heard he was looking at Mentor and Willoughby I was hoping he would choose Willoughby cause I HATE Mentor. Anyways he said Mentors population density appealed to him. Ha! Its less than 2,000 people per square mile. Lowest in Lake County. That areas census tract lose almost 18% of its population. Could you possibly be seeing some abandonment?

Do they only do suburban locations or is their a chance it will actually be in the city.

I agree. Its hard to find anything really unique downtown, probably also because of the lack of any retail downtown. Last time I was in Pittsburgh I went to this really interesting local toy store. It was like 3 floors and was right downtown. Something that Cleveland is definitely missing.

Annnapolis Tour!!
Any other cities who still have a strong untouched urban core like this? When you look at any small or midsized town in ohio, they are mostly been demolished for parking lots.

^ Agreed! Last year I felt the bridge lost its wow factor or its new experience. Idk, last year just seemed kind of boring to me, while I love the first year under the bridge. Glad they are mixing it up.
